Knowledgeable staff, fair prices when compared to other stores and always willing to help with questions no matter how simple the question is. As long as they are in business I will always come here for my electrical supplies.

My husband has spent about 600 hours on a home DIY project. He couldn’t make some lights work that he was installing and honestly I think his sanity was hanging in the balance before he had the idea to go to Browns and ask for some advice. The team at Browns gave him a spare part and some good advice, and boom. Problem solved. Thank you to Browns I get to stay married to a sane person and not a raving lunatic.

I know I could order stuff online but would rather keep the money up here in our state of Alaska. Plus postage up here usually is triple what the lower 48ers pay.

I had been to 3 different stores looking for a particular light bulb. I found it online but it was more for shipping than for the bulb itself. I walked in the door at Browns and the nice lady immediately knew what I was looking for without me saying a word

After originally giving my one-star review below, Browns responded quickly. Diane was very nice and made things right with no additional hassle for me. It was beyond what I expected. Because of this I feel it's right to update my review to five Stars.

Original:
I went in to buy a couple of nema 14-50 plugs for making extension cords for a 50 amp generator. I didn't want to use the garbage from the box stores so I thought I'd go to a good electrical supplier.

They gave me two right away which I assumed was the only thing they had in stock. Took them home and wired one up and it broke. It was a poor design, and in hindsight I would have been better off with what the box stores had. I took the other one back and returned it. At which point they showed me a couple of others that are more popular and commented how they don't sell as many of the ones they gave me.

As expected they don't return faulty damaged products, and to add insult to injury, the better quality ones are $10 cheaper. I've used Browns for years and generally like them, but this experience was just very very disappointing.

I guess my takeaway for other customers is make sure you ask to see all of the options available. I can't help but feel like they were trying to unload some garbage that professional electricians know better than to purchase. One of the employees even commented how stuff with shiny plastic is not good in cold weather because it's brittle. Well, we're here in Alaska so why knowingly sell brittle electrical products that carry 50 amp loads? That's a good way to get somebody hurt or killed.

Do better Browns. In the future, stand behind the products you sell.

I gave this place 5 stars because they have very knowledgeable and reliable staff.
Earlier last month we purchased LED bulbs to replace our florescent lights from here.

HUGE, shout out to STEVE. He gave me expert advise on how to convert our florescent fixtures to LED.
The quality of product exceeded our expectations. We are happy to have light in our office again!!!

Quality but expensive!

Seems every time I go in here I get treated as if I'm bothering these people!! I run a shop for a large corporation here in the valley and it is sad that they only have time for you if they know you. I guess I'll take our business where we are more appreciated!
