We hired TeamG7 to help with our pool and landscape design & build project.
To provide a little background, I came into this experience as a contractor myself. Over the years, my wife and I have always completed our own home improvement projects, including flooring, kitchens, bathrooms, window replacements, and more. Because of that, we have always been very hands-on and selective when it comes to quality, workmanship, and trust. When we decided to take on a project as extensive and detailed as building our ideal outdoor living space, we knew the biggest challenge would be choosing the right team—one with the vision, values, and capability to bring it to life.
After spending several months designing a rough layout on our own, we were ready to partner with a company that could refine our ideas, contribute new ones, translate them into a professional plan, and execute the work at a high level. We chose Team G7, and having rarely hired contractors for our own home projects, we admittedly did not know exactly what to expect after signing the contract. Would they truly deliver on the vision we created together? Would the quality match the promises?
I can say without hesitation that Team G7 exceeded our expectations.
At first, it was not easy for us to let go and trust someone else with a project this important. However, that quickly changed as we experienced their professionalism, commitment to doing things right, quality craftsmanship, respect for our property and neighbors, and strong communication throughout the project. The name Team G7 truly reflects how they work—the homeowner is part of the team. We met regularly to review progress, make decisions, discuss adjustments, and address field conditions as they arose. That collaborative approach gave us confidence every step of the way.
As the project progressed and our backyard oasis began taking shape, it became increasingly clear that we had made the right choice. Like any large project, there were occasional disagreements or challenges, but every issue was handled professionally, respectfully, and with a satisfactory resolution.
As a contractor, I also understand that one of the most difficult parts of any project is finishing strong. This is often where contractors fall short. Team G7, however, has a process they call the “Red Zone,” which ensures the final phase of the project receives the same level of care and attention as the beginning. Every detail is addressed, every item is completed thoroughly, and the transition from construction to maintenance is handled in a deliberate and thoughtful way.
Today, as we sit at our outdoor kitchen overlooking the pool, we can honestly say our vision has become a reality because of Team G7. We are extremely grateful for their work and would confidently recommend them to anyone looking for a contractor who values quality, teamwork, communication, and customer satisfaction.

We hired TeamG7 to perform a major landscaping and backyard construction project. The initial state was a completely blank slate with no plantings, structures, fences, etc. - nothing. TeamG7 executed a jointly-designed plan that added plantings to surround and fill in the property, fencing to create privacy and provide security, a striking modern patio structure with innovative aluminum materials that houses an outside BBQ/kitchen, living/conversation space, and dining area, an expansive non-slip tile patio, a custom circular concrete firepit, a modern horizontal-cable fence, a unique angular-shaped pool (with specialized modern coping) that projects over a steep slope and has an integrated jet spa, a sun deck with high-end composite materials, a garden and fruit tree area, a winding natural landscape-tie staircase leading to a separate detached building down a slope, etc. The owner and tireless leader of TeamG7, Philip Lizarraga, kept in constant communication, collaborated on changes and ideas, patiently worked through challenges, and managed numerous subcontractors with grace, kindness, positivity, and limitless enthusiasm. The quality of work was impeccable (not always on the first try) and Philip has built a team that pays attention to detail, is respectful and considerate, and knows how to take on a challenge. We pushed the team with new and challenging designs and they ultimately delivered exactly what we wanted. Thank you TeamG7!

G7 was originally brought into architect the backyard and the front yard and associated landscaping and hardscaping. Philip is patient and works with me throughout and we're still working on projects as I decide to get around to them LOL. But I regularly have the neighbors come by to compliment me on the Beautiful and inviting front to our home which is over 3,000 ft I believe. Even still after a couple years the yard still looks like AstroTurf perfect green and all the plants and trees are thriving! I'm so happy to come home or walk out and sit on the porch with a beautiful surrounding!

When I recently relocated to San Diego, one of the main improvements I was anxious to address was landscaping the front and back yards. Fortunately, my real estate agent immediately recommended Philip as a landscape designer she knew well and respected as the “best of the best.” She assured me that he was someone I could trust and someone who was always there when he said he would be. Having worked with other contractors in the past, I knew that was not always something I could count on.

A few weeks later, my agent introduced me to Philip. He immediately impressed me as someone who takes his job seriously and expects the came from his clients. He asked me thought-provoking questions about my “vision” for the yard and to explain to him not simply “what” I wanted but “why” I wanted it. I immediately realized that this is someone who puts thought and consideration for the lifestyle and tastes of his clients into his design. He instilled confidence in me with his years of experience and his certainty that we could create exactly the kind of space that would make my house a place that would feel more like a home.

After a few months, I decided to have Philip create some designs for the yard, but I did not think that I would be ready to move forward until I settled into the house many months later. When we met to discuss elements of the design, I found Philip to be organized, thorough, insightful, creative, a good listener, and enthusiastic and optimistic about the plans. Soon he presented two different plans for the back and front yards. After our meeting, Philip came back with an amazing third plan that somehow combined my favorite elements of both plans. I don’t know how he did it, but he understood and executed a vision I didn’t even know I had! Of course, at this point, I was completely on board with moving forward with the project and excited about the next few months. He introduced me to the plant specialist, Gary, who listened to my list of plants I liked and some I wanted to avoid, color schemes, and best water-wise choices for my coastal San Diego location. Gary was available throughout the entire project by phone.

I was fortunate to have Cesar lead the site team. At our first meeting, Philip explained that Cesar would be my daily contact on the job and that Philip himself would be visiting the site regularly and calling several times a week to see how everything was progressing. Cesar was a gem. He and his team were organized, hard-working (8-hour consecutive days), reliable, timely, tidy with the worksite, and informative about progress and expectations. And their workmanship was top-notch and detailed. Cesar and I would meet every Thursday afternoon at the same time to discuss what had been completed and plans for the upcoming week. He was about the most patient person I know, for I had endless questions, requests, lists, and clarifications that he always welcomed with enthusiasm and respect. Philip and Cesar also educated me to become a competent steward of my new yard: how to use a soil probe, monitor the irrigation, and always pause to enjoy the beauty of my new surroundings.

Philip, Cesar, his father Cata, and I met in late August for the final walk-through. Philip then explained that we would remain in contact for the months and year ahead. He made it clear that they were always within reach and would remain a support. In fact, Philip even helped me find a qualified maintenance person to take care of the weekly maintenance.

When I reflect over the past few months, I realize that though the initial project is completed, the relationships will continue for years to come, and that is a great comfort. The tone of respect, client concern, joy of executing a vision, thoroughness, and attention to detail of the company come from the top and filter down to everyone I encountered throughout the process. I take comfort in knowing that they are just a phone call away should I need their expertise and that I will continue to hear from Philip and Team G7.

I recently had the pleasure of working with TeamG7 and I must say that the experience was nothing short of exceptional. Finally! A long overdue, but well deserved review! Philip and the team at G7 Inc. are absolutely phenomenal. Responsive, professional, thorough and kind. We did a large project with them last year, and their partnership from start to finish… And then a few little follow up/tag on items… has been a very pleasant experience. My wife (Lori) and I have known Philip for more than 30 years now. He and his team completed a project for us in Escondido in 1995 that was absolutely gorgeous, and has truly stood the test of time . . it is still the absolute best looking yard in "the hood" !!!! After moving to Encinitas in 2014, Philip and I resurfaced our relationship, and Team G7 completed our 2nd project together. Philip has a very special and unique skill in the design aspect of what the customer is looking for . . he wants to know the answers to ALL of the why's of what we want. Philip and his entire crew are very professional, clean, very informative and always available !! When we started searching for a contracting group to create the right feel for our landscape, we had no idea how the journey would unfold. Purchasing a home during covid and the enduring shortages created additional concerns. Researching landscape architects took a good couple of months until we were blessed to connect with Team G7 Landscape Design and Build. We were very optimistic with what they presented online and were absolutely thrilled with our first of many in-person meetings with Philip Lizarraga, their Creative Team Leader.

Philip became the bridge that merged our hopes for a wonderful and unique environment with a solid understanding of everything from design down to the foundation and through to completion. He spent many hours addressing why we wanted certain elements and then leading us in a direction that would be the perfect fit for our environment. Philip literally knew what we desired before we did! The time, dedication and care he took to understand our desires coupled with his lengthy knowledge of his industry was incomparable!

The process with Team G7 went smoothly from start to finish. The Team was incredible! As individuals concerned with minimizing disruption to our neighbors I can say that Team G7 exceeded every request for consideration for our community from cleanliness to care regarding extraneous noise. Oscar was our Project Manager and the entire Construction Team was exceptional! They were at work every single day without fail. The communication with Team G7 started and remained unparalleled. To this day, weeks after completion, if we have a question they are very responsive at all times!

We feel incredibly fortunate to have met Team G7 and to have collaborated with them on a unique landscape that will bring us joyful and fulfilling memories with our family and friends. Team G7 remodeled by entire back yard. The project included a complete renovation of the pool, BBQ area, landscaping and retaining wall. 5 star job across the board. I have contracted many home and yard projects over the years and I have to say my overall experience with Phillip and Team G7 and the quality of the work has been the absolute best.

- Cost: Project met agreed to price. Team was flexible in addressing and adjusting for plan changes along the way.

- Schedule: Project met schedule as laid out in offer. In fact Phillip and team provided daily updates to schedule and met commitments. More importantly I am not sure we had a day go by on the project where some progress wasn't being made. Amazing in my experience. Our project lasted 8 months.

- Performance: Site teams we respectful, hard working, diligent, experts at their craft, engaging, and left a clean work site each day.

- Quality: Top quality products and craftsmanship from top to bottom. Minimal punch list at end of project that was cleared up in days.

- Design: Stunning design. Innovative ideas and design plan were well beyond those offered by others we had interviewed and competed G7 against.

We used Team G7 for our backyard renovation and are very pleased with the results. Philip was very personable when we first met. He interviewed us to get a sense of what we valued most. From there, he presented renderings and made adjustments as needed. Throughout the entire process, Philip was very good about checking in with us and keeping us updated as to status. At the end, he even referred us to a great gardener and pool guy. Many thanks for the memories we have already made and will continue to make in our beautiful backyard. Thanks Philip!

When we bought our new home, we wanted some special landscaping for our home and did not want it to look like what everyone else was doing in the neighborhood. We happened onto Philip and Team G7. The initial meeting with Philip was mostly Philip listening to us and not try to persuade into something that was a modification of everyone else's home. At the second meeting he presented two designs. It was a very professional presentation with very detailed designs with a CAD system. The two designs ranged in content from our previous discussions. Prior to engaging with Team G7, and after already speaking to a number of other potential contractors, we were not sure what they could do different from what the others had already offered.
Well, what we can say is that we were beyond impressed. There were subtle and not so subtle changes and concepts from other designs we had seen, but they made it pop! We were very impressed with their ingenuity and creativity. One of our concerns we have is to diminish the apartments behind us without using just big trees that make it look like we are hiding the apartments when in fact we are! They came up with two extremely creative designs with “out of the box” thinking that indeed wowed us! We picked our favorite and proceeded on with the project.
The entire construction project went very smoothly and we were asked our opinions every step of the way. We worked as a team and came away with a wonderful looking yard that we are extremely happy with. Philip was on site every day to make sure everything went well and was able to discuss things all the time. His team was very professional and courteous and did an outstanding job. It has been over 6 years and it still looks fantastic.

We have had the pleasure of working with Team G7 in the fall of 2014 and would like to share our experience about this fantastic landscaping company. To give a brief history, we purchased a home in 2013 with an undeveloped one-half acre lot. Unaware of Team G7 at that time, we turned to recommendations from friends and colleagues, as well as our own laborious online research. After meeting with a few designers, we began and completed our project with a company that is now out of business. Our project included the front yard and driveway, courtyard, side yard, and part of the backyard. Many issues arose in the last half of our timeline, and we sadly came to the realization the company we contracted performed sub-par work inconsistent with the price of our bid.
Shortly after completion, we also began to notice faulty installation in electrical, drainage, and parts of the irrigation system, amongst other concerns. Knowing our property had so much more potential for beauty and function than demonstrated, we were greatly disappointed with the final outcome. Clearly this company was here to get a job done and collect a check, unconcerned with the longevity of their install and the contentment of their clients.
After viewing outstanding workmanship on a neighbor's project, we inquired on a renovation for our property with Team G7. Philip and his design team presented unique and creative solutions that offered the wow factor we were seeking. Our decision to work with Team G7 was apparent. They offer passion in design and imaginative ideas other designers simply did not have. To date, we have renovated our courtyard with full intention to begin on other areas mentioned. In working with Team G7, we can truly say they are exceptional and have exceeded our expectations. Every member of their team takes great pride in their labor and is extremely knowledgeable in their area of expertise. Given pricing estimates may appear costly in comparison to designers, we are certain it was well worth the creativity, quality of work, and peace of mind Team G7 provides. My reason for writing this review is simple: Philip/Team G7 earned it. My wife and I are thrilled with our landscaping and hardscaping results. And, importantly, we lived through (and, at times, even enjoyed) the process of getting to those results. My wife was responsible for the day-to-day interactions with Team G7, and was impressed by the entire team's professionalism, including how they maintained a relatively clean work area (even during the height of demolition) and the respect they showed to our neighbors. By way of background, we decided some time ago to redesign our backyard - but we had two problems: Unlimited ideas; and a lack of knowledge about landscaping and hardscaping design and the cost. We interviewed several landscapers. Philip came recommended by a friend and professional realtor in the Rancho Santa Fe/Carmel Valley area, and he distinguished himself during several meetings with us with his professionalism (he was always on time), his commitment to get to know our likes and dislikes, his design ideas, and his willingness to work within our budget. We were also impressed by the families who had used Philip/Team G7 and the praise they shared. After we went under contract, Philip continued to be "hands on" throughout the entire job. His entire team, including subcontractors, also impressed us. Our job was done on time, on budget, and we couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. We appreciate how Philip/Team G7 made use of existing conditions when possible (to save cost) and added new elements to achieve our functional and aesthetic goals. We didn't know Philip before this process started and now view him not just as an extraordinary landscaper, but as a friend.

I was delighted to discover Team G7 as I embarked on my journey to find a design and build company to remodel my backyard. Philip and team were easy to work with to bring my landscaping objectives to life. From design through construction, the process was on schedule and the output is truly my dream backyard. It is absolutely gorgeous, welcoming and functional. I can’t thank Team G7 enough.

Team G7 produces an exceptional product to your exact designs through continuous and structured communication. Simply put - we are in love with the end product. Team G7 has the design and build process down to a fine art, honed on years of experience and customer interactions.

We initiated communication with Team G7 in May 2024 and wrapped construction a year later in May 2025. I suspect most projects of similar scope and scale wouldn’t take this long as we opted for a ‘slower but less expensive’ path way, which meant deprioritizing our project in lieu of costs (for us), and schedule (for them). This was our decision and one G7 offered to save us in the overall scope. Our project was also likely one of the smallest projects they have ever handled, a 10’ x 25’ back yard.

Our basic requirements were to install a 220V spa (hot tub) and a pergola, have everything appropriately permitted, all crammed into a very small back yard that is sandwiched between condo buildings. Through creative thinking, some HVAC relocation, and many, many rounds of review and adjustments we have a beautiful spa with end-to-end pergola coverage providing shade from the sun and privacy from the neighbors, all obviously permitted correctly.

When working with Team G7, rest assured you will be working with a professional design/build company who has processes and procedures in place, developed over many years of projects and experience. I highly recommend Team G7.

Wow! We bought a “dump with potential” and planned to do a complete remodel inside and out. We did not have a positive experience with our interior remodel and were quite apprehensive when we began our exterior remodel. Thankfully, Philip and the entire G7 team renewed our faith in positive experiences with contractors. We knew basically what we wanted, but Philip helped us enhance and improve our design so that it far exceeded our expectations. He had ideas that we would never have thought of, yet we absolutely love them. We were given options of ways to save money along the way while pointing out the value of each option. Thanks to Team G7, we are so happy with our amazing outdoor area, which includes beautiful plants, trees, walkways, fences, fountains, lighting,
privacy, views, firepit, and really everything we wanted, plus more. We have never worked with such a professional, friendly, and knowledgeable team. Their communication was excellent, they were always on time, each day they cleaned up before they left, they did what they said they were going to do when they said they were going to do it, and the quality of their work was exceptional. Philip was very hands-on during the entire process. He even met me when I was trying to choose fountains and gave me his opinions. If Philip wasn’t pleased with the quality of the work of a subcontractor, he had them redo the work. Honestly, we have never had such a superb experience with a contractor and we would highly recommend Team G7. They do fabulous work and are phenomenal individuals. We love them!

TeamG7 exceeded all of our expectations. When we started and completed a large, complex project, a good friend did the same thing with their home. While my friend's contractor had constant surprises, no-shows, cost overruns and problems. TeamG7 consistently communicated, forecasted potential issues, problem-solved and delivered. Phillip is a class act, as is his entire crew. We had drainage issues and these guys were world class pros in that department. In addition, their designs were and final product were world-class.

Philip and I met from a neighbor's referral and spent many weeks in an intensive and thoughtful design process, which was particularly important for my project as the yard space was quite small and it was very important to prioritize among features such as eating areas, relaxing areas, planting areas, spa, etc., which allowed me to feel very good about the project once construction started as we had already sweated all of the important details.

Team G7 really stood out to me with their thoroughness and professionalism. The foreman was a skilled and thoughtful man - he was very smart, a problem solver, was clearly respected by his Team, and treated my property like an owner throughout the project. Philip remained engaged throughout the project as well, and we continued to design here and there along the way, always finding ways to make the overall project even better.

As I travel often, it was important to me that the team both cleaned up and secured the property daily, which they unfailingly did, and I am quite sure this is not standard with construction crews. The billing process was timely and straight forward, and there has been plenty of after-care to ensure everything is just right.

Met with several contractors prior to choosing Team G7, Philip and team were the only ones that we felt comfortable with taking on our large Design and Build project consisting of Pool, landscape and hardscape over the majority of our 1/2 acre property. From our gorgeous entry to our resort-like pool area, Philip’s designs exceeded our expectations and made the most of our odd shaped yard. The build team was excellent and it was refreshing to have the same friendly workers showing up every day for 6 months, giving 110%. Communication was excellent and I always felt I could bring any concern to our project lead Oscar, project manager Gabby, or directly with Philip, and we were always able to work out a solution together. Thank you Team G7 for creating our own little slice of Palm Springs heaven in Vista!

Our new house had not had any landscaping done in years. We met with Philip of Team G7 to talk about ideas for improving what landscaping existed and were so impressed with his knowledge and vision that we decided to do a complete overhaul of both the front and back yards. From start to finish Philip and his crew were a pleasure to work with. Philip's crew completely replaced the patio in the backyard with concrete and travertine tile. Also in the back yard, a new overhead shade structure was added. They also replaced the back fence and added new fencing along our property line in the front yard. A new walkway was added to the front and side yards and the driveway was replaced and widened. Then the plants were replaced in both the front and back yards. 3 months out the plants are absolutely thriving. The final touch was landscape lighting in both yards.

Philip handled all of our permitting requirements and supervised the work flawlessly. This has been our best experience with a contractor ever.

Hiring a landscaper is an intimidating process, and one that most of us do seldom. In viewing landscape projects in our area, we found ourselves drawn to several homes and discovered that Team G7 had performed the work.
From our initial meeting with Philip from Team G7 our discussions were exciting and inspired confidence that we were making the right choice. And from the beginning of the project it was clear that Philip's many years of experience was serving us well. He was at the job site nearly every day, and often multiple times a day. We had many workers on site each day to ensure continued forward progress; the workers and supervisors were skilled, dedicated and tidy. Philip would not hesitate to redo an aspect of construction if it was not perfect.
Team G7 has access to a network of experts to help with the job. We had
several consultations with horticulture, irrigation, lighting and fabrication specialists to ensure that we were making the best decision for our requirements. We felt that the team was really listening to our unique preferences. As we talked to our neighbors we heard alarming stories of contractors providing little to no communication, sometimes with long gaps of unexplained inactivity that generated frustration. Philip was excellent at communication. We had daily walkthroughs of the project as well as telephone updates giving status or confirming requirements.
Each day he would tell us the next steps and where we stood in the overall project. We have been delighted with our landscaping experience with Team G7 and highly recommend Philip and this company.
We are confident that this project will add significant value to our home while we enjoy it for years to come.
