My wife and I hired Elcano Construction to completely renovate our first home, and we can't speak more highly of their work. We had heard horror stories about home renovations from friends, family, and even HGTV - but upon meeting Stefano, Elcano Construction's owner, our minds were put at ease. Furthermore, he and his top notch team delivered our beautiful, renovated home on-time, on-budget, and exceeded our expectations in every way.

Craftsmanship: Elcano Construction is a skilled team of multidisciplinary experts, including finish carpenters, cabinetmakers, masonry contractors, gutter installers, electricians, plumbers, and anything/everything in between. We were impressed by everyone we encountered, and six months later remain thrilled with the quality of their work.
Timeliness & Flexibility: Despite the fact that we changed some decisions mid-renovation, Elcano Construction still completed the project on-time and we were able to move in as planned.
Communication: Stefano is incredibly responsive, and available via email, text, phone, and in-person meetings - he would even video chat us to show exciting progress or to get input on real-time decisions that had to be made. He's transparent about every aspect of the project, and proactively kept us aware of considerations as walls were (literally) opened.
Honesty & Transparency: We spoke to several contractors as we planned our renovation, many of whom seemed like they simply wanted to secure the biggest payment possible (but provided little if any detail as to what we were paying for or why). We chose Elcano Construction because they were data driven, shared budget estimate details, and helped us weigh tradeoffs to ensure we didn't exceed our max budget. Furthermore, the costs were reasonable - especially considering the quality of their work.

We highly recommend Elcano Construction, and are confident that selecting them for your next renovation project will make your dreams come true. It certainly did for us.

We have been working with Stefano and the Elcano team for over a year now and cannot say enough great things about our experience. I’ve used Stefano as both a consultant and a GC on my projects. His attention to detail is impeccable. I value his professionalism and his insight. When I have an issue, I call Stefano and he helps me figure out next steps.

I can only assume the other reviews were written by friends and family. Stefano was very pleasant in the beginning, and became increasingly unorganized and lacks on monitoring his employees activities. First, he quoted me incorrectly and had to add to the estimate later because he had Incorrectly noted the number of joists in my house . He openly admitted that and did only charge me for parts and not labor on that portion. However, we were well into the project at that time and I had budgeted for the original quote, which had increased significantly, even with only parts. Also, his workers broke numerous things at my house, including severing an electrical line underneath my house cutting off outlets in my bedroom. He would not take accountability.and said his workers did not do it. This took place underneath my house and Stefano never went under my house to even check on it. I had to pay for another electrician to fix it. He has unqualified people doing work and not owning up to their mistakes. I know this is common in construction, but it’s still very troubling when it happens to you. Especially if you are a single woman in Los Angeles . He was very dismissive and tried to blame problems on other people when it was clearly his workers mistake. My recommendation would be to go with a more seasoned contractor.. Stefano is very lazy and relaxed and not on top of his projects.
