We have done two significant kitchen remodels with KC - the first in 2019 and the second in 2023. In both cases the work was done with care and the results were excellent. The unexpected things which always turn up in remodels were dealt with honestly and fairly. We would recommend KC without reservation if you want a high quality job done.

KC Builders did an excellent job on our Condo in Berkeley. They full remodeled two bathrooms but when we removed the walls we found significant dry root in both bathrooms. They worked with the city to get new permit requirements meet and were very clear on the work to be done to fix this and the cost. Berkeley permit department was very difficult in all aspects but KC Builders handled this very professionally and shielded us from them. In the end everything was perfect, the city was happy and my wife and I were very happy.

We engaged with KC Custom Builders, specifically Nathan Casey, as one of several contractors we were considering for our project. They did not end up fitting our needs for this particular project, but we are eager to work with them in the near future. Going through the budgeting process with them was extremely valuable. They were knowledgeable, responsive, and detailed. The communication was thorough, candid, and extremely helpful. Additionally, we were able to visit one of their finished projects and were extremely impressed with the quality of work. The owner was very complimentary of their experience - any issues that arose (as they do in construction) were always addressed to their satisfaction. This was our first time remodeling and working with contractors and Nathan was proactive in considering what we should know and what would set up our home for long-term durability. It was clear to us that they would have ensured a high quality of work and had the best interest of our home in mind.

KC Custom Builders did an extensive remodel of our kitchen in mid-2019. The result was great and we hit our budget and (almost) timeline despite some of the surprises that always come with this kind of project.

Nathan, who personally managed the project for us, was outstanding to work with, managed the subs beautifully, and rolled up his sleeves when needed to stay on track. We also want give a special shout out to Jesse who was the lead on the construction work. He was reliable, courteous, professional, and did excellent work.

We are delighted with the result and, while a remodel is always disruptive, KC Custom made it a very positive experience.

Thanks to working with a terrific contractor, KC Custom Builders, i now have my dream kitchen. And we did the work during the challenging limitations of COVID supply chain disruptions. Flexibility is an important feature when I work with anyone. KC Custom gets very high marks for flexibility and their ability to collaborate with a designer and the client.

I would highly recommend Nathan and his staff at KC Custom Builders for any home construction project. We hired them for a primary bedroom, bath closet project in 2023 and would use them again for any further projects. Nathan was organized and efficient. The technology app they use made the communication and process regarding progress and adjustments seamless. Nathan and his team were courteous and easy to have at our home at all times. They even went above and beyond in helping us with an unrelated water leak! The final project is beautiful, high quality and is exactly what we envisioned and more. I would hire them for any house project in a heart beat.

There are an overwhelming number of General Contractors and Builders in the Bay Area....some good, some not so good. Nathan and the team at KC Custom Builders are in a class of their own. Their estimating/budget process is meticulous, accurate and transparent. Communication throughout the job is amazing (super refreshing given a general lack thereof in the industry) And finally, not only are the overall results outstanding but Nathan's eye for even the smallest details is unreal. The bathroom remodel was disappointing. The tiles were uneven, grout lines looked messy, and several fixtures were installed incorrectly. The overall finish did not meet expectations. The project took much longer than promised, with frequent delays and poor communication. Costs also increased without clear explanation.
