It is rare to have a contractor who is both considerate and competent. He has built up a strong team who share this strong sense of professionalism. I not only trust the quality of his work, but very importantly trust that any problems that arise will be dealt with appropriate speed and honesty.
His costs is not the cheapest, but he is reliable and delivers quality work. -
We hired Aaron Gordon Construction for a Kitchen and Bath Remodel of our home in the Excelsior. His workers and subs were ALL professional from the demolition crew to the framing, tile work, plumber, electrical, kitchen cabinetry and painter. He worked with us on the costs, the duration, and splitting the project into two phases as new home-owners he helped on a lot of small issues like getting a door stripped to re-use, and working with us on specialty fixtures. He was prompt, cordial, and informed about the work and effort required. He gave fair pricing for all change orders, and worked with us when we wanted to do a little sweat equity on the project.
He is now a larger organization from when we hired him back in 2010-2011 but we would always consider to hire him and his crew for future projects when we are ready to redo or start a new phase on our home!
Highest regards for a growing professional organization.
Sincerely
Aaron Goodman

We thought we knew how good Aaron Gordon and his crew could be from earlier construction (which by the way saved our house from near-disastrous effect of an earthquake). But it wasn't until dry rot was discovered all the way from windows to foundation that AGC really proved its mettle. The damage (very extensive!) was diagnosed and a plan in place, complete with accurate estimate, within days and the problem resolved in weeks. The crew was good humored, efficient and on time thoroughout, plus they explained everything in whatever detail we desired. I've asked other homeowners about similar work and concluded that AGC is not only professional and experienced but affordable to boot. To this day we think of Aaron G. and co. with relief and gratitude.

I was so nervous getting the work done on our house. First let me start by saying we live in San Bruno where it’s notoriously hard to get permits and the wait is endless. We wanted to hire local, but went with AGC from the city for several reasons. They showed up to bid the job on time and immediately gave us suggestions on how to get more bang for our buck. Aaron spoke to us like we were real people and asked what we wanted and how his company could serve our needs. He didn’t up sale like the others, he actually told us how we could save money by putting the bathroom in the back of our house. We hired them and can I say customer service!!! We didn’t want to move out and they worked around that, our dog is protective and they worked around him. During spring break they kept the cold water I so we could use the toilet. These things found trivial, but you get major work done on your house and you will appreciate these perks. Now our work is done and I kid you not I smile every time I open my door. Impressive isn’t even the right adjective!!! Life changing home, bathroom, closets, flooring and may I add.. the subcontractors they use are just as good. They painted and fixed my garden up to the point I don’t want to leave. They were able to push our permits through and finished early 😳😳😳 I cannot thank them enough!

AGC is a high quality firm. During the bid process, Aaron & Brian D were the most responsive, offered constructive feedback regarding the project & were the most focused on ensuring an understanding of the project. They weren't the least expensive bid, however, I had the most confidence in them (& I subscribe to theory you get what you pay for). The foreman, Trevor, was excellent -- low key & always very responsive to any questions or concerns. He led the team to deliver a high quality remodel. My project was quite substantial -- touching every room & most every aspect of every room. Importantly, he ensured that my neighbors were well informed & provided his contact info to them. His 2nd in command, Amber, also deserves high praise - she was able to step in when Trevor was on vacation, during the final stages when just odds & ends were left & also was a key support for my designer. During a project of this size, communication is essential & I always felt well informed about the status & next phase. Also, while the majority of the work was complete according to expectations, there were a few things that dragged out due to other firms delivering faulty materials -- I never had to follow up -- Trevor kept me informed & worked to get those last remaining items complete. Other AGC staff also ensured high quality work (from Jeff the carpenter to Brian B who provided me detailed invoices to Eric who worked with Brian D & Trevor on scheduling the various stages.) I highly recommend Aaron Gordon Construction.

Aaron fixed some rotting siding in my light well some years ago. I had had some very unpleasant experiences with previous contractors whose work had been both substandard and expensive, so I was hyper critical and anxious, but Aaron was clear, prompt and provided quality work, while trying to ensure that the construction did not disrupt either our home life, or my work. Aaron completed the work swiftly and without fuss. He explained exactly what needed to be done and went to extra lengths to show me precisely what precautions he had taken to ensure his quality work would eradicate the original problem.
Later when my house suffered a flood and I was let down by the builders provided by the insurance firm, Aaron came to my rescue and clearly, concisely explained all the options. It is a major project, subject to minor glitches, but Aaron and the project manager have always been most thorough and professional. Aaron is straightforward, thoughtful and intelligent. He quickly identifies the cause and presents solutions allowing me to make informed decisions. He anticipates problems so few appear, those that do manifest, he strives to resolve in a fair and timely manner. In fact he has solved many of the problems created by the shoddy workmanship of others. Moreover, Aaron has been extremely patient as I dithered between designs, offering additional resources as needed.

AGC is a top-notch General Contractor. They are well established and respected in the Bay Area high-end construction and remodeling world.
We hired AGC to assess and repair the siding of our building that was experiencing some water intrusion. Our first meeting was a lengthy analysis of the structure and a detailed diagnosis of the likely cause of the intrusion. They identified a few different strategies to deal with the repair and tie back into the existing waterproofing and siding. Subsequently, we were provided with a detailed estimate itemizing all the costs involved which made it possible to compare to other bids. They were clear about what needed to be replaced, what could be reused, and what we could do but didn't need to do.
While onsite, the team was so courteous of our space, and worked so efficiently I barely knew they were there. They left our yard clean and tidy everyday.
Most importantly though is the quality of the craftsmanship brought to bare. As the project unfolded, and the true extent of the damage was revealed, their plan at the outset allowed for them to handle these unknowns in stride and on budget. They cut no corners and did the job right, which is ultimately the number one criteria for hiring a contractor.
This winter has really put this waterproofing work to the test and it has held up flawlessly. I put a high value on quality of work, trust, and professionalism. If you wan the same for your construction project, look no further.
When researching contractors, I tried to learn about the company beyond just their license certification and status. AGC is owned by an SF native and has a large team of long-timers. That says a lot in the construction world about who you are dealing with. If you want peace of mind that your project is being done right and at the right price, I cannot recommend AGC highly enough. -
We've had AGC do several projects at our house, including a major kitchen remodel and a minor bathroom upgrade. Aaron and his firm have been great in every way: high quality work, reasonable prices, on-time and on-budget, good communications, good coordination with designers and subcontractors, they show up when they say they will, they give good advice on basic decisions and when surprises pop up, and they leave the job site clean. I can't ask for anything more.

What can I say? Aaron is the person to call, for anything. Not only is he extremely knowledgable but he is also a very reasonable and kind person. I do not trust many people, I trust Aaron. Period.
I met him when we moved into our house and I needed an estimate on some pest work, found him randomly on Yelp. He came over and told me to not worry about fixing the small area since it would take so long for the pests to so any significant damage, we would have had to already replace the entire deck due to the age of the wood. I love logical thinking.
He came to my rescue when our upstairs flooded and I was home alone with a newborn. Talked me through what to do and reassured me that I had not destroyed our house.
I trust him to tell me the truth and to do a good job. Not good, great. Had one of his subcontractors come to repair my dining room ceiling (after aforementioned flood), pretty sure that the room was cleaner when she left then when she came. And the ceiling was flawless. -
My husband is actually very handy around the house and is a diehard DIY'er. So it says a lot for him to trust someone else to do the work. And the work that AGC did for us was excellent. They replaced galvanized piping with copper which is located underneath a 1920's house. Not the easiest thing to do especially in the middle of winter. So to do this in just a few short days was incredible. We were able to move in earlier than scheduled thanks to Aaron and Dustin. They are also very professional and reliable, showing up to the job when they actually say they will. Unheard of, right? While my husband still likes to tool around the house, he knows well enough to call AGC when necessary.

The entire AGC team is incredible. My wife and I did a full gut remodel/rebuild on a 1912 house in San Francisco. We took the entire house down to the studs and then moved and replaced all the studs. To say we were terrified is a complete understatement. We talked to several GC's, and were referred to Aaron Gordon by our architect. He stood out from the start, and there was really no question who we'd go with after meeting with him and running through his process. He broke down and explained every aspect of the project, and priced out the entire thing in advance. And this wasn't a rough ballpark quote like you get from most GCs, it was down to every detail. We were always in the loop on every aspect of the project. We had bi-weekly onsite check ins, and they provided weekly summaries of work completed and what was on the schedule for the coming week. We were never in the dark.
Most importantly, I am happy to say now that the project is over, there were no surprises, and they finished on time and on budget (slightly below actually). That's quite an accomplishment considering the scope of work involved. Their quality is top notch, and the entire team is 100% professional. Not to mention they are just genuinely really good people. They would repeatedly go above and beyond what's expected. Just as one example (to which there are many), right when we moved in we tried to start garbage service through Recology and have bins sent to our house. Unfortunately Recology was hacked and their systems were down for weeks. We had nowhere to put our garbage, so the AGC team swung by several weeks in a row to literally pick up our personal garbage, just as a courtesy until we finally got bins sent to us. I could rattle off countless examples, but I just wanted to highlight the level of service they provide. I was flat out impressed at how they conducted themselves both professionally and personally.
This whole thing could have been so stressful, but the team ensured it never got to that point. I dare say it was even enjoyable. It was amazing to watch our home transform knowing it was in good hands. I have zero hesitation recommending them to anyone starting a new project. They are as good as it gets, and they will be our go to for all our future needs. So happy we were referred to AGC.
