This company has been doing the landscaping for the last 3 weeks near my work and I'm impressed with their attention to detail and care they are taking. Very impressed, and friendly as well.

When I moved into my home in the downtown area of Sebastopol the yard was overgrown with weeds and had gone completely wild. I quickly realized that for me to do the landscaping without professional help would take me literally years. I interviewed three local landscaping firms and was immediately impressed with how well the folks from Permaculture listened and understood what I wanted to do. My front yard is small, and my back yard is tiny. However, Permaculture gave my job the same professional and thorough attention I imagine they give folks with acres of grounds. The entire crew was fully engaged, and the guys doing the work made a few suggestions which turned out better than my initial design. I am new to horticultural concerns and have, thus far, both overwatered and over-fertilized some of the plants. So, I have now contracted with Permaculture for quarterly maintenance so that they can fine-tune and service the irrigation system, address issues they discover, and make suggestions to help me keep the plantings alive. I am more than happy with the results, and I would recommend Permaculture Artisans to anyone with any sized landscaping project.

I chose Permaculture Artisans after interviewing three other landscaping companies. Permaculture has certified arborists who know its business. I found a one stop shopping experience for design, landscape, hardscape, and electrical work to install a fountain. The design of my garden by Geoff surpassed my expectations. The quality of workmanship was superb. During installation, Project Manager Michael made suggestions to enhance the project. I appreciated his care throughout the installation and afterwards. Michael was always responsive to my questions or concerns. Andrew worked diligently throughout the project. Rene, the supervisor kept a good eye on the ongoing work. Nik, Client Relations Manager, also was super responsive and thoughtfully addressed my questions or concerns. Permaculture employees are passionate about their work. Another cool aspect about them is they provide maintenance of your landscape if you need some help afterwards. Without hesitation, I recommend you give Permaculture Artisans the opportunity to create the landscape of your dreams.

The Artisans removed an existing water thirsty lawn and past-their-prime shrubs surrounding our home in Windsor in November of 2021. The drought tolerant plants they planted are are now glorious and I am saving big bucks on my water bill. Best of all my yard went from a pollinator wasteland to a bee and butterfly buffet!
They are well worth their price in terms of knowledge, reliability and imagination.

We have been working with Permaculture Artisans for 3 years. Everyone has been fantastic and our property has been markedly transformed. Every year it gets easier to manage. We are so grateful for the deep ecological knowledge. We love the monthly maintenance program with Lili. She is super knowledgeable about many things including natives and cares so much about what she does. We feel like we have a partnership in caring for our little piece of heaven on earth. Would absolutely recommend Permaculture Artisans! The garden design is beautiful and highly functional, and we are so looking forward to some of our yard’s challenges turning into assets when the rainy season rolls around. The Permaculture Artisans team was also really helpful with figuring out what made the most sense given budget constraints!

My neighbors and I worked with Michael Litwin on creating an integrated drainage plan for our three adjacent rural properties in Sebastopol, which have suffered significant flooding during the past two rainy seasons. Michael was able to coordinate an affordable design solution that satisfied all parties and worked directly with the ground crew to monitor their progress once the project was scheduled and work had begun. His patience and knowledge, combined with his easy-going personality, accessibility, and willingness to adapt to changing circumstances, made it a seamless and enjoyable experience for all of us.

We would also like commend Javier and his fantastic crew for their hard work. They made every effort to carry out their daily tasks with patience, efficiency, and good humor and exceeded every expectation in their professional work ethic and quality of workmanship. I highly recommend Permaculture Artisans without any reservations and encourage anyone who is looking for a top-notch local contractor who understands the challenges of our local climate and unique landscape to check them out.

tldr; recommend for any plant or tree care, landscape design, new planting recommendations, etc. Don't recommend design services and coordination with professionals to implement designs and plans.

Really knowledgeable about plants, trees and landscape designs. Really nice people working on our property and happy to share knowledge with us. We enjoy having them here and they work hard. High quality work. However, administrative and design services is not up to the levels we expected. We wasted money on gray-water designs that didn't work with our plumbing. We didn't realize we were just buying a design document with no follow-up on actual implementation/coordination with their recommended plumber. On the admin side, we receive our bills several months after the actual service. Often getting a past due notice without getting an invoice ahead of time. If that part of the business were functioning better I would highly recommend.
