GM Construction is my go-to contractor for personal renovations, investment properties and where I refer as many of my real estate clients as I can. Lane and Gael are the perfect team when it comes to designing and executing a project. They are sharp, consistent, reliable, provide a quality service and are overall just awesome to work with. 5 stars!

GM Construction completed a bathroom remodel for Us about a year ago we couldn’t be happier with the result. Gael was extremely communicative during the remodel process. Lane understood my vision and took it to a whole new level. I highly recommend Lane Gale and their entire team!

GM Construction provided expert guidance and created a cohesive, well designed home for us. We fully trusted their knowledge and creativity. They thought of every detail to make our dream home come to life. We were very impressed with their ability to manage the project from concept to completion. We would highly recommend GM Construction and look forward to working with them in the future.

Gael and his team did a wonderful job on our house renovation, which included moving a door, adding sliding glass doors, a new outdoor patio and two screened in locations. The brick work they did for the addition of the sliding glass doors was top quality. I would definitely recommend them for all types of work. There attention to detail is top notch!

So grateful for our amazing experience working with GM Construction & Design on the remodel of our eclectic treehouse in the woods. I was overwhelmed with the idea of creating the right vision for a more unique property on my own and I'm so glad we didn't. The entire team at GM was wonderful to work with from start to finish. We really appreciated how clear and transparent their process was and valued the excellent communication throughout the project. Lane created a design that truly captured us and brought to life what our home could and should be for our family. Working with Kim especially made the management of our project so easeful. Couldn't be happier!

I have and will continue to recommend GM Construction for home renovation projects.
Working with a design build team allows for a streamlined process with communication a key.
GM made great effort to understand our goals and their team executed to a high standard.
Lane and her design team brought our vision to life. Gael is an excellent GC and responds timely and with experience to all the usual issues that crop up when renovating an old home. -
A few years ago we used GM Construction for the remodeling of our home in South Tampa. Our house was built in the 1940s and we really wanted to make it look nice and modern.
Lane helped us out with the design and the materials for the bathroom and kitchen. Gale and his team always delivered on time and they were very transparent.
Remodeling can be very stressful, but with GM Construction we knew we had a partner that we could trust. Overall it was a great experience and the house looked wonderful. -
Our experience with GM Construction was fantastic! The design/build process made things streamlined and helped us remodel our home on time all while exceeding our expectations. Finding a firm that has expertise working with old homes was important to us. Our vision was to update our home with some modern features and add additional space on our second floor while keeping the aesthetic of our home built in the early 1900s. GM laid out our vision perfectly and made a few design suggestions that are now some of our favorite parts of the house. I recommend anyone looking for a renovation to contact GM. They are extremely good at what they do and are friendly and easy to work with!

We hired GM to remodel our bathroom and install wood floors, and they did an awesome job. The whole process was smooth from start to finish. The work was completed on time, they kept us in the loop, and were super easy to work with.
The bathroom looks amazing—everything was done really well, and you can tell they care about the little details. The new wood floors completely changed the vibe of our place, and the installation was super clean and professional.
The team was respectful of our home, cleaned up after themselves, and just made the whole experience stress-free. We’re really happy with how everything turned out and would definitely recommend them for any home projects! -
We used GM Construction for a renovation of our home in Hyde Park, and then our nanny flat more recently. We waited to move into our house until the project was completed, and they were a great partner in design and construction. I work on commercial construction projects and recognize the challenges of doing residential work. The team does a great job of listening to our goals, presenting designs, and executing. If you're looking for a hands-on partner that provides white glove service and project management, you should put them on your short list.

We had an incredible experience working with Gm on our kitchen renovation, so much so, they are doing a second story addition soon. The one-stop-shop approach made the entire process smooth and stress-free—we always knew exactly who to work with, and their team operated seamlessly from start to finish.
They understood our vision better than we did and brought it to life in ways we couldn’t have imagined. The transformation of our 1920s kitchen into a modern, functional space that will last another century exceeded all expectations. Every detail was thoughtfully designed and executed with care.
We highly recommend GM to anyone considering a renovation. Their expertise, communication, and craftsmanship are second to none! -
We just purchased a historic home in Hyde Park that needed extensive renovations. Having recently moved to Tampa and facing challenges after Hurricane Helene, we needed a reliable general contractor to complete the work efficiently. Since GM Construction had prepared the city-approved plans that came with the house, we opted to continue with them. Unfortunately, the experience proved difficult at every stage, ultimately leading us to terminate our relationship after only a couple of months. Below are the key issues we encountered:
*Lack of Transparency in Pricing – GM Construction refused to provide a quote, citing the need for additional design revisions, demolition, and consultations. Even after meeting their conditions, no quote was ever provided.
*Mandatory Interior Design Services – They required us to sign a $30,000 contract for interior design consultation and plan revision updates, despite our clear preference to handle the interior design selection ourselves.
*Excessive Charges – Once under contract, they billed for every meeting, email, administrative task, and presentation, charging like a law firm. Even when there was no further progress on the drawings, they continued to charge us for them with no explanation. We added an example of one of their bills in the photos.
*Poor Communication & Customer Service – Communication was restricted to email and in-person meetings (which they charged for), with no phone or text contact. The team was often unresponsive and dismissive of our input. They really seemed focused on their procedure and costs, not renovating our house. We did not have 'one point of contact', we had many, including Lane, Kim, Daniel, and Gael.
*Financial Lock-In Tactics – After demolition, they wanted an additional $20,000 retainer for further interior design consultation before providing a quote and moving forward.
*Aggressive Payment Requests – After paying the first half of the demolition up-front, they aggressively and repeatedly demanded the second half of payment before we could inspect the demolition, despite our history of prompt payments. It was easily their most thorough communication.
*Theft & Incomplete Work – Their demolition team took personal belongings, including an antique bookshelf saved from the flood and a ladder we lent them. They failed to complete demolition per the contract, leaving nails in studs, windows they broke, and a lot of scattered trash. Losing our bookshelf was a shock..
Despite paying in full, we never received permit-ready drawings or a final renovation quote. This was the most frustrating contractor experience we’ve had, and we strongly encourage others to research alternative general contractors in Tampa. Many offer flexibility, clear pricing, good communication, and fairer terms without requiring upfront retainers to charge at will.
