I need to update my review from a four star to a five star. Over time I've seen the commitment to their customers' interests . The percentage of return customers in their database indicates continuity of quality customer collaboration.

Custom works has been nothing but great to my family and I. Any questions we had were explained and answered thoroughly with no confusion. Jim and his crew were clean and organized. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

We used Custom Works for our kitchen remodel. They started the job ahead of schedule and finished in less than a month. Jim’s team was professional and were willing to go above and beyond our expectations to make our first home remodel project a breeze!

Contractors from heaven! I finally found my contractor that I will use the rest of my life. Honest, dependable, and reasonably price. They do a quality job. They are big on communication with their customer. Keeping their customer always in the loop.
No surprises. I am always pleased with their work. -
Jim and crew build a beautiful set of stairs off of our back porch and came out a year and a half later to fix something, no questions asked. They are easy to communicate with and fairly priced. Will use him again for any future projects.

8 years ago, Custom Works remodeled my bathroom and did a fantastic job! At the time, CW prepared a glass block window, which is still beautiful. However, it started to have a small issue. I called Jim Williams, and he did not hesitated to come out and help me solve the problem at no cost. After many years, I would not have expected the warranty to still be good. CW is great to work with and honors its commitments!

My mostly finished basement was flooded when my sump pump failed. Jim and his crew did a remarkable job with repairs including insulation, Sheetrock, baseboards, doors and painting. They are professional, yet very friendly and easy to work with. Their work is meticulous. I will not hesitate to call them again when I need help.

This is the 3rd bathroom they remodeled and have done superior work on all 3. Rooms turned out great, fixed any issues quickly and was always priced within my budget and expectations. I would highly recommend Jim and his crew for any project in the future.

Have worked with Jim on many home remodeling projects. We’re always pleased with the process from the bid to the reveal! Our new deck and walkway are stunning. They did a wonderful job!

We have hired Jim and his crew 2 times, and are very happy with the end products! Our master bath remodel took some creative thinking, and Jim was able to capture our vision to create an open, beautiful wet room with a jetted tub installed, from an original walk-in shower space. And recently we asked him to create more space for our island area in our kitchen, thinking we might have to have the island rebuilt. But he and his crew were able to move the existing island back a foot, giving much needed space for us to be able to operate in the kitchen with 2 people, instead of having only room for 1, between the island and the appliances. Jim's fair pricing and attention to detail also are reasons we would recommend Custom Works Remodeling to anyone!

I had Custom Works remodel my kitchen and 2 bathrooms. I couldn’t be happier! My house was stuck in the last century and now it looks fabulous. Jim helped me make decisions on design and products. His workers were reliable and friendly. They were all expert craftsmen. I highly recommend if you want a makeover for any room.

We had Custom Works remodel our kitchen and living room about a year ago. I was working out of town for an extended time, so was delayed in reviewing their job. Now that I've spent enough time at home to experience the work they did, I feel like they did a reasonably good job overall. I did like the way they mainly charge for labor, and you pick out all of the items, other than they only work with one cabinet shop. But the cabinets turned out good and we like it.
We had to rework our entire kitchen from scratch, and I felt that Jim, Jericho (the man) and others had good ideas to implement. They had someone design the cabinetry configuration and it all came out looking good. They gutted the kitchen to the studs, installed insulation on the outer walls, and installed all new sheet rock. They removed an outer-access door, and cut the wall to install a garage access door in the dining room. They also removed a small wall at the end of our kitchen, which required them to install new red oak wood flooring where the wall and kitchen floor used to be, and you can't even tell where the flooring was patched over (good job).
Since the kitchen wall was bare and the existing plumbing was already on the shared wall with the garage, we had them install a stainless steel utility sink in the garage. What a great idea that turned out to be. There were a number of things that we (and they) thought of, during the process, and extra charges had to be added, but that's the way it goes with these kinds of remodeling jobs. Do them while you can!
Extra kudos to them and KC Granite for the granite counter-top work. They worked with KC Granite, where we picked out our slab, and it looks really good, along with the backsplash and flooring.
We also had them come back later and do some additional painting in some other areas, and they did a decent job of it. There are still a couple of places that need some patch-up work, but I didn't notice them until later, so that's on me. Nothing too bad.
My only problems with them were the initial bid by Jim was "too low" to remove the sheet rock in the kitchen. I don't know if that was a miscommunication or what. So we had to add more money to the bid (over $1000) early in the process. My recollection was that was part of it, but it didn't turn out that way.
The other thing to be aware of, is they have a lot of good abilities, but electrical wiring and related work is not one of them. They can do basic electrical stuff, but nothing more. We had to hire an outside electrician to come in and do the electrical wiring upgrades and updates, while they were working at the same time. That got kind of messy between the parties, but in the end it all worked out. I will say that I was more pleased with Custom Works than the electrician, including cleaning up. Custom Works did a reasonable cleaning job at the end of every day, and at the end. Of course I had to do more, but that's kind of expected from a big job like this.
I do recommend them for remodeling work, just be aware of their known limitation (electrical) and they can help deliver pretty good remodeling work. They are versatile, helpful, professional, and personable. We couldn't have gotten the type of job done at that cost without the way they do it. Most places end up costing more. Also we found that we trusted them enough to not always have to be around while they worked. -
BUYER BEWARE. We unfortunately hired this company for a screened-in porch and composite deck project. This was under-bidded by over $10k, and quoted us 4 weeks to finish. We had to fire them from the project at week 11 after very little progress. They just come to collect pay for "labor." WHEN the "crew" will show up, they are unskilled, lazy, and sloppy. DO NOT be assured they are insured. They cut the gutters off without capping or redirecting the water. When it then stormed, the open gutters created a full waterfall funneling into our wall, basement, and subflooring. Think they are insured?? There is NO WAY to talk to the owner Jim after he underquotes you during his initial visit. Thus NO WAY to file an insurance claim for damage. There was so much water in our subfloor it came up through the hardwood. The explanation they give is that Jim has since moved to Florida to flip houses there. You will never talk to him again. He's collecting the checks with no pride in the work. See below for just some of the other issues.
- Failed the first city inspection for the deck frame. The city inspectors direct quote after glancing at it for 20 seconds, "Did you build this yourself?"
- Ordered the decking wrong TWICE. We finally had to reorder it right ourselves after firing them, thankfully the decking supply company felt bad for us and was very accommodating
-Wasted our money on materials that were wrong or the wrong amounts
-Blamed "unskilled kids" they had helping them. Although NONE of them know what they are doing.
- The other contractors we had out to assess the started project acknowledged the project looked to be done by amateurs who had no idea what they were doing
-We hired someone else to finish the project, unfortunately everything was unlevel and required serious jerry-rigging to save us from ripping out and starting new. They left us with a mess.
-This company had no intention or skill to finish this project. 11 weeks in and they hadn't even started laying the deck. Which we are thankful for in the end, as they clearly did not know how to and would've blown our composite decking materials and cost us more money.
-We all choose carefully to improve our homes and spend our money to create a beautiful space for our families. This company has no respect for that. They will milk the project to get paid for labor with no intention or skill to finish the job and will leave you with an expensive mess to deal with. DO NOT HIRE.
