Bob and his team are great! They've done two projects for me, and they're scheduled to do another in the fall. Bob is responsive and attentive, very professional. The crew does wonderful work and are also very professional. They're all a pleasure to work with!

CCI did a fantastic job on our bathroom to make it handicap accessible. They worked with us to incorporate our existing cabinetry and lighting, then installed a roll under counter for me in my wheelchair, and a roll in shower for use with a shower wheelchair. Shower controls are placed where I can reach them, built in shelves for soap/shampoo within my reach, as well as grab bars so I can maneuver the shower chair... Everything is well thought out, and the craftsmanship is excellent. We could not be happier with the experience from start to finish.

Bob and his skilled crew were amazing to work with! Bob married our vision with his expertise and together we created a renovation that not only is effective and forward thinking but simply gorgeous! He created an addition that looks like it was always part of our home, renovated our 1960's kitchen to a focal point in our house and was an integral part of every decision we made towards our updated look. A job that takes over a year, touches every room, and includes revising along the way will only be successful with communication, honesty, and a respectful approach. Bob and his crew, including ALL of his subcontractors were in our home daily and we trusted them wholeheartedly to be there. He never once agreed to something that he felt we wouldn't be "forever happy" with. Our friends and family literally pause in awe of the home CCI created, then they reach for their phones to take photos to send to others. We have another project in mind and would never consider working with any other firm than CCI. They treat your home and your family like theirs. We ended our project with them with even more respect than we began with; they are that responsive and good.

We first hired CCI four years ago to install a number of new windows, a job that soon expanded when they discovered water damage to a wall. They handled it all skillfully and at a reasonable cost. Since then, we have hired them to build a new deck, remodel a bathroom, and install more windows and interior doors. The quality of their work has been consistently excellent. Plus, Bob Szklarz and his crews have always been both professional and exceptionally responsive to us as customers. We have always felt very comfortable having them working in and around our house as they clearly respect customers' homes and their work shows it.

We hired Colonial Carpentry Innovations INC (CCI) for a 400 square foot home addition and bathroom remodel project. They did an excellent job on this complicated project. We are extremely happy with the outcome.

Permitting was a particular challenge in this case since we are near water and a full environmental study had to take place. CCI did an excellent job managing that process and getting the permit efficiently. They worked well with the building inspector and the town, pulling off the whole job without any legal hitches.

Their work was on time and reasonably close to budget. They were also exceptionally thoughtful about disruptions to the house; they kept things clean and protected, and left the site in pristine condition. They also paid close attention to our daughter’s needs, who was living in the house while the work was completed.

CCI took special care to make sure the addition fit in with the original house both in regards to planning and execution. They went to great lengths to match the cedar shakes on the existing house, lining up new rows exactly in line with the existing. Seams inside the house are also smooth. The floor transition is level; the wall is smooth from new to old. Overall the addition fits the house excellently.

The new space that was created is a perfect fit for our needs for the house and shows that this project was both well conceived and well executed. We are extremely appreciative of CCI’s work and recommend them for projects of this nature.

Starting with detailed planning with Bob at our home, moving through choosing high quality materials, and installing them (windows for us) with expertise. Particularly impressive was how the crew treated not just us, but each other. They were helpful, careful, detail oriented, and kept a sense of humor through all that a project can throw at them. Including homeowners who pestered them with questions that often started with ‘Could you just…’. Even after the final bill was paid. It’s astonishing how much light pours into our house now that our new windows have been installed. Five Stars CCI!

Colonial Carpentry Innovations (CCI) did an exceptional job remodeling the west wing of our 200-year-old farmhouse! From our initial consultation to the project's completion, CCI demonstrated the craftsmanship, professionalism, communication, and transparency so essential when selecting a contractor. Bob, the owner/operator, clearly understands historic home construction and appreciates their inherent quirks, character, and charm.

This was evident from the start. After contacting CCI, they connected us with an architect and collaborated with us to achieve our design goals: modern amenities integrated with our home's original historic features. Detailed project planning was crucial as we had two critical needs: (1) minimize disruption to our kitchen & laundry room utility and (2) preserve and reuse existing historic elements in the remodel.

The project was strategically phased, allowing us to use most of the house throughout the renovation. Our functional downtime was minimal, even with major demolition needs, such as the removal of two chimneys, deteriorated flooring, exterior siding, two-thirds of the attic, a porch, an old outhouse, and more.
The CCI carpenters assigned to our project were professional, friendly, and meticulous. Throughout the demolition, they carefully salvaged as much wood as possible, including historic chestnut planks. These were beautifully repurposed in our kitchen, creating custom shelving, a vent hood, an accent wall, and a spectacular 9-foot island countertop that our family will enjoy for generations. We also retained our original tin ceiling and soapstone sink. They even reglazed and incorporated an original attic window into the redesign.
Inevitably, issues arose (as they do in older homes), but Bob and his team were always readily accessible. They promptly answered our questions, involved us in decision-making, and worked diligently to manage costs. The CCI team are true problem solvers.

The end result is a stunning transformation of our home that is now more energy-efficient, functional, and maintains the historic beauty that honors its 200-year history. We are incredibly grateful that Bob and the entire Colonial Carpentry Innovations team were such valuable partners in this project!

Colonial Carpentry did a kitchen and bathroom remodel last year. When our dryer vent became disconnected due to being jarred loose, it only took one call to Bob and his team. They immediately scheduled a time to come back to our house and made the repair even better than the connection was before. Bob Szklarz and his team truly stand behind the work they do, and they go above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. We are proud to show the work that Colonial Carpentry did for us, and this was just another example of how outstanding their customer service is.

Of the many projects we’ve done with Bob and CCI, this was by far the largest and most complicated to date. The project was an ADU above our garage for a family member.
Aside from the quality workmanship we have come to expect from Bob and his team, they got us through all the codes, rules, and regulations required to complete our project. We are very grateful for their work and the opportunity to work with them again. Thank you!

Bob and his team at Colonial Carpentry did incredible, high-quality work on our home that will last decades. It all looks gorgeous, and hiring them to remodel our house was the best decision we ever made! Bob was the only contractor who believed in us and our idea (to take down a load-bearing wall between the kitchen and living room). All the other contractors said it was too much work, it wasn't worth it, they didn't want to do it. Bob and his crew put a massive support beam in the attic and pulled it off, and we couldn't be more grateful. It opened up the entire space and made it livable. They also revamped our full and half bath, finding a way to make both work in the original footprints. Chris, Oliver, and all the crew members gave excellent attention to details, and any hiccup was an issue from the manufacturer which they cleared up right away. Bob always picked up his phone and went the extra mile to make sure the project kept moving along. This crew is knowledgeable, talented, and friendly. It was a pleasure just having Chris and Oliver around as they worked. Every penny of the cost was worth it; Bob takes care of his employees and charges exactly what makes sense for the project. Rising costs are unavoidable in this world, but we were so happy to support a business that really does put people over profits. HIGHLY recommended! Thank you Bob, Chris, Oliver, and the whole crew! *note: The before-and-after photos don't even look like the same house, but believe me, they are taken from the same viewpoint. Incredible!

They did a full master bath remodel. The tile work was sub par. The tiles don’t sit flat and in the same plane on the walls. They fixed some but said there wasn’t much they could do because the tiles were warped. To which I asked why did you use them and not reject them? The shower floor is grouted with 2 different color grouts, some with the white grout from the walls and the rest with the grey that was supposed to be on the whole floor. When I pointed it out, the guy just said “I hate grout”. The sheet rock and joint compound work was also sub par. Replaced sheet rock is not flat which meant the glass shower panel doesn’t match the contour of the wall and joint compound work which was supposed to be “ready for paint” was far from it. I, the painter had to redo most of it. Then there was the constant mess. On the bright side, the guy who did the woodwork did a great job.
