Competent, prompt and very knowledgable about their work. Very happy with Acton Refrigeration's help with my wonky thermostat!

They first impressed me by how quickly they come, in busy season. The engineers are very experienced and explain the problem to me, they also use state of art devices to make diagnostic quick and easy.

Our a/c broke and they helped us design and then installed an excellent system. Highly recommended. Very efficient, polite, and clean service people!

I just had Acton refrigeration techs check over my heating system for annual maintenance, both tech's Will and Rick were great, but Rick who was the head tech, was very informative, through, conscientious, courteous, and professional- he has serviced my heating system in the past and continues to be an asset to the Acton Refrigeration team as well as Tara the secretary was also very professional and helpful to me as well. I highly recommend this business owed by Bruce M. who happens to be a Vietnam vet.

I found the staff at Acton Refrigeration to be very knowledgeable, helpful, responsive and friendly. The AC part of my Magic Pak All-in-One had started running poorly toward the end of last summer. Because these systems are not easily serviced in place, they are typically replaced in their entirety once they get be a certain age, which can be an expensive, time consuming and disrupting task. But after some discussion and research, an alternative approach was identified to replace just the cooling chassis portion of the system at about one third the cost. The whole process only took about a month from my initial phone call, and yesterday Rick and Nick came out to make the repair. They arrived when they said they would, and were very courteous and thorough. The entire job took less than three hours, and they left the place as clean as when they arrived. All in all, I was very pleased with the results, and I would recommend this firm without hesitation.

I woke up with no heat and they were her e within an hour! So helpful and polite. Luckily just a faulty thermostat. They do servicing of my 2 zoned furnaces and A/c and have been fabulous. On time, do great work, offer advice, reasonably priced. Highly recommend!

Best heating and air conditioning maintenance e company i’ve found in 20 years living in Groton,MA.
They are respectful and have good technical training with the ability to convey repair issues and advised me on maintenance (w/o requiring annual maintenance contracts, which with two large dual heating and dual a/c units can become expensive), While its nice to have maintenance contracts if you can afford them, if you correctly change the paper air filters regularly (every 2 months in winter, monthly in summer if you have pets I have found saves money as they get dirty fast).
Their techs are well trained, and will help you to understand reason and parts needed on repairs. mechanic (vs. say... _ the dealer_) for service, you probably prefer a co. like Acton Refrigeration is likely a good match for your needs.
Only repair they had to return an extra time for was when one winter my attic heating unit was not starting and replacement starter worked but was "glitchy"- a universal starter (that maybe not as universal as it could have been?) was swapped out and worked fine after that. Other than that every repair or service was done with minimal drama and fair price, and their billing and scheduling person is very diligent and always gets you into rotation in timely manner. I recommend this co. very highly and do so as i am not an easy customer and been known to install my units doors in wrong order (so Ricky labeled the Top Bottom doors to be "idiot" proof-hmm...lol). One of few reviews I make on net for service co. thanks Acton Refrigeration for good service!

If you need HVAC services of any kind, look no further than Acton Refrigeration. They are professional, competitive and knowledgeable. Tara at the front desk is very helpful in scheduling and able to answer many questions. Bruce ( the founder) will answer all your technical questions. A special "shout out" to the two Nicks. Nick (the elder) was very helpful in the design of our mini-split system and Nick (Jr.) worked tirelessly in the installation. He was neat, careful, and cleaned up after the work was done. I HIGHLY recommend AR. You will not be disappointed!

The best! We added central air to our house this past spring and used Acton Refrigeration. Because our house is older and uses hot water baseboard heat, we needed new ductwork. I had three HVAC groups out to discuss the project. Acton's proposal was in the middle price wise BUT they were the only contractor recommending a 2-stage condenser. The other's all built in a single stage condenser, so Acton's value proposition was higher. In addition, they used large, insulated rigid ductwork for the system so we have no hot spots or issues keeping the first floor cool, even on the hottest days.

The project took 4 days and they were on time, on schedule, and clean the entire time. We were nervous how messy the house would get with all the ceiling cuts, but we were put at ease after the first day; there was no mess at all. They were some of the cleanest contractors we've had in our house.

The system is fantastic and not only can efficiently cool the house down quickly, but the two stage allows us to run the system longer to fully dehumidify the house (essential in a summer like this one). Adding central air isn't exactly about saving money BUT our electricity bill decreased by 66% in comparison to using room air-conditioners. Most importantly, we can sleep comfortably in the summer.

Acton Refrigeration is AWESOME! We qualified for early replacement of our furnace and A/C but we had a tight timeline to make the deadline for the rebates. We called 3 of the QIV contractors for quotes and Acton was the last contractor to come to the house and we're SO glad we waited for them to come because they were far superior to the other two. Their service is amazing. They were very fast and extremely thorough in their approach AND they helped us navigate the whole Mass Saves process as well. They went above and beyond to get us the best equipment and they provided many options for us to choose from without any high pressure sales. They are just really nice people who provide great service and you know right away you can trust them. I highly recommend them and we feel fortunate that we found them and now have them to service any future needs. Call Acton, you won't be disappointed.

Written under my daughter's name....I'm the homeowner and I have had these guys for several years. Always on time and with good prices.
Each year they would come out and tell me my furnace may not be fixable due to it's age, but they would get it working! Didn't try to get me to buy when I didn't need to .
But alas, furnace has died and they were so helpful in the Mass HEAT loan process. They also lent me space heaters to keep us warm!
They are so kind and helpful! I've been recommending them for years! My neighbors also rave about them.

This company was recommended by a friend, a retired energy technology consultant, who had a heat pump installed by another company and was unhappy with it. Acton Refrigeration was the company that figured out and corrected the errors made by the original contractor. He assured me that they were quick, insightful, effective, and reasonably priced. Spurred on on by his assessment and the Sunshine Group, young climate change activists who advocated installing heat pumps (disposing eventually of the carbon footprint of an oil furnace), I looked into this company, found their proposed plan for our house better than a competitor, and had various types of heat pumps installed (two ductless and one floor with ducts and vents). All work was done effectively, by friendly technicians, and with excellent cleanup. One fan did not work correctly and it was analyzed and repaired within a few days.
Just a note for the system -- it has proven to be much better than forced hot air, and heats much more evenly. For every floor we have a different machine/thermostat, providing just as much heat as needed. Again, as other reviewers have noted, all of the staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

Bruce has been my go to for heating forever. Several years ago he installed a new heating system, and has done all of my heating repairs and service since then. Recently I had two two mini-split units installed in my Master and Guest bedrooms. They did a fabulous job, were great to work with and were "as neat as a pin" . Also, Tara is a delight to work with. I recommend Acton Refrigeration every chance I get.

After buying our first home, my wife and I quickly discovered that the HVAC system was on its last legs. Throughout the past year, Acton Refrigeration has done an absolutely phenomenal job promptly responding to our calls when our HVAC system needed immediate repairs, and finding fast and reliable fixes to our various heating or cooling issues. Both Nick and Rick who have spent time working on our system, have been very professional, friendly, punctual, efficient and fast. We recently had a ductless mini-split system installed by Acton Refrigeration. The tech came out to take some measurements and talk to us on a Friday afternoon and come Monday we had our quote. We really appreciate that he took the time to show us several different options and configurations, we ultimately went with his recommendation and couldn't be happier. The install went smooth, the technician was very professional and courteous (We have a toddler and two small dogs so he made sure to let me know when things were going to get loud). Acton Refrigeration also let us know about the rebates available to us from MassSave and had the paperwork and checklist ready for us at the completion of the job. We are very happy we went with them and extremely happy with our new system.

Acton Refrigeration is the place to go for all your HVAC needs! We recently had a large job that involved a new heat pump and air handler system for our large service wing. Acton Refrigeration was knowledgeable and got the job done quickly and efficiently even with a last minute add on that we wanted. Nic Jr. and Sid were great to work with and stayed after to show us how to work everything properly. If you have any extra questions, give them a call and they will get you your answers. Everything about the central AC repair visit was exceptional. We have an old unit but it was worth it to repair it. The guys, Rick and an apprentice came too (love that!), were professional, great at explaining things, and did a great job. The repair visit was scheduled promptly during the busy season, Karen in front office is professional and caring, the repair was fast and extensive, and the price was excellent. We hold a very high standard for repair professionals and they exceeded our expectations. Can’t recommend Acton Refrigeration highly enough.
