Tighe built a pair beautiful built-ins for us as well as a set of custom stools utilizing the remaining material from the job. We had worked with Tighe previously, as a member of the team on our original renovation, so already knew what to expect, in terms of thoughtful input, and deliberate communication around often overlooked design decisions. This time around though, we were blown away with the level of craft he and his team poured into the pieces - truly beautiful! They also made very steady and diligent progress on the job once it kicked off, which was much appreciated. Highly recommend - Tighe and his team are seriously skilled and great to work with!

Tighe checks all the boxes in terms of the ideal contractor -- quality craftmanship, attention to detail, design eye, organized, great communication, hard-working and reliable. And all of the sub-contractors that Tighe works with are professional, good people who were a pleasure to have in our home.

Tighe is a master carpenter. He built and installed a kitchen peninsula with extremely tight dimensions and matched the cabinets and countertop to existing custom Italian cabinetry and the existing white quartz countertops. He operated on a faster timeline than any other contractor I had spoken to and was extremely detail oriented. I highly recommend Tighe, you will be extremely pleased.

Tighe was very attentive to details and focused on our satisfaction every step of the way. He planned out the job to minimize its length and kept to schedule throughout. I would definitely use Tighe James Build again on a future project. We are so please with the outcome.

On a recommendation from a friend of ours, we hired Tighe to tear down and rebuild the steps to our front porch. Overall the project took about two days, and we were very impressed with how much pride he takes in his work. Our previous steps were rotting, not up to code, and poorly installed. Tighe's work is rock solid, he has an admirable attention to detail and aesthetics, and he's really a pleasure to work with. We hired him again to repair and reinforce our basement steps, and we're very pleased with the result. We've recommended him to our family as well, and we're looking forward to working with him again in the future.

I truly cannot say enough good things about Tighe and his work. My husband and I bought a house that has turned into more of a fixer upper than we bargained for, and Tighe has gone above and beyond to help us with each new challenge that has arisen. The original job was to paint the whole interior of the house, refinish the floors and stairs, and rehab the attic into offices. That work is now complete, and we are thrilled with the quality and craftsmanship. The house is truly unrecognizable and was quite a feat. Tighe treats your house like it’s his own, applying care and an exquisite level of detail. The people he hires to help him are all lovely and incredibly skilled. Along the way, Tighe has graciously helped us by finding temporary fixes for the things that were not on the original plan (i.e., we discovered the kitchen needs to be gutted and the front porch and stairs need to be torn down). Those repairs will now be “phase 2”, and we are so glad to have Tighe at the helm. My hope is that he will be available for all of our future house needs. Oh, and he’s also just a super nice guy!

Tighe was wonderfully communicative from start to finish. Him and his team did impeccable and efficient work on my bakery and executed a project I could not be happier with. Since then, I have recommended his work to a number of friends and business owners. Currently looking for my next project/excuse!

My wife and I hired Tighe to renovate our kitchen, bathroom, and living room. He is a consummate professional and craftsman, with a keen eye for detail and a strong customer first approach. He went to great lengths to understand our needs and provide us with thoughtful and effective solutions. Our two-month project took two weeks longer than expected (in part because of COVID) and went over budget by around 50%. That said, we are very satisfied with his work and would not hesitate to recommend him to our family and friends. We look forward to working with him for all our future home renovation needs.

Tighe completed essentially a gut renovation for our one floor condo, and did a wonderful job. He was easy to get along with, a consistent communicator, brought in great teams, and clearly cared about his work and our satisfaction. He stuck with us throughout a number of difficulties during the project, for which we're extremely grateful. We'd certainly recommend Tighe to anyone, and look forward to working with him again!

Tighe was incredible. The first thing you notice is his attention to detail and his consistent demeanor which makes him a great person to work with on so many levels. We approached Tighe about our kitchen/attached bath remodel in our 100-year-old home and he did not bat an eye about some pretty significant changes that we wanted to make (moving windows, moving a closet and rearranging some of the other walled spaces ON TOP of the normal kitchen fun). The job was also complicated by lead time issues from some of our vendors but Tighe was able to roll with the punches extremely well. His subcontractors are also great and we get compliments on our backsplash tile every time someone sees our new kitchen. I would 100+% recommend Tighe to anyone (and already have) for home repairs, and when the time comes that we're going to fix up the rest of our house we will seek him out first.

Tighe has been the BEST! So reliable and pleasant to work with. He does amazing work and has a great eye for detail. He took down a wall in our kitchen that had electrical and plumbing and then put up a new half wall for us. He also recommended and worked side by side with the plumbers and electricians which made the process so much easier for us. We are beyond thrilled with the work he did and look forward to having him back soon to work on more projects. Thank you Tighe!

It was such pleasure to work with Tighe. He came highly recommended by a friend who had a bathroom and kitchen renovated. Our job was much smaller, we wanted to get a new and bigger refrigerator, and needed to have the cabinet above rebuilt. We also had new cabinets installed in the basement. Tighe’s work was excellent, on time and on budget. We are so happy to have met him, he is a gentle, sweet and lovely person and his work is really good. We highly recommend Tighe; we will definitely call him again when we need more work done.

We contracted Tighe James Custom Build to renovate our studio in a historic art building located in Fort Point. The renovation process required us to obtain a building permit from the City of Boston, which involved constructing a custom bathroom that is handicap-accessible and a complete kitchen. The project was finished within the agreed-upon timeframe and budget, and we are thrilled with the end result. Tighe James was an absolute pleasure to work with, and his attention to detail is remarkable. We highly recommend his services.

Tighe is a true talent. His attention to detail and ability to understand exactly what his clients are looking for is exceptional. He’s also very tidy which is important for multi-day projects, so you can comfortably live in your home without the disruption or mess. And in the end, he delivers something truly beautiful.

Tighe has done multiple projects for us over the years and most recently remodeled our master bathroom and basement. He did an absolutely phenomenal job. Not only is the quality of his work excellent but he is organized, responsive and an excellent communicator. He stands by his work and has been terrific at trouble shooting and addressing any questions or issues we’ve had (thankfully very few!) He also has a group of terrific, trustworthy sub contractors. I would recommend Tighe without hesitation for any home renovation project. He is truly outstanding!
