All reviews for Benjamin Construction

Installed an archtop door that is still looking great a year in and functioning correctly. Great team and pleasant to work with!

Matt renovated 2 kitchens in my Victorian home. He was extremely professional and completed the jobs to my abundant satisfaction.

We've had JBC complete a few rennovations of our home. They're talented craftsmen who know brownstones better than just about anyone. Without hesitation, I recommend them with full confidence.

Benjamin Construction completed an entire renovation of our brownstone as well as two smaller projects. We couldn't have been happier with the quality of both the work and the team -- we wouldn't consider using a different contractor.

We’ve used Matt and the team for several jobs around our condo in the South End. If you want a user friendly, articulate, reliable service that tenaciously address issues/ problems you may be having then look no further. Matt in particular is great. We will continue to call them first for any future problems.

I had a residential gut renovation project with Benjamin construction and highly recommend this team. During the height of the pandemic, they were able to stay close yo the proposed schedule and budget - am amazing feat during this time.
Clean work and courteous team. Clear and detailed billing. Thanks, guys

Benjamin Construction has done several projects for both me and my condo building and they do fantastic work. They are very professional, conscientious, and do a great job in a timely fashion. Highly recommend them and would hire them again.

Very good experience with Benjamin Construction. We had a fairly extensive project in an old townhouse and Benjamin came through with 5 stars. Very professional with high quality craftmanship. Tricky time to manage a project given post covid challenges - but Benjamin made it all work.

We've used Benjamin Construction for several projects on our home -- and have been tremendously impressed with their responsiveness and the quality of their work. We've used them both for beautiful, exacting, and detailed custom carpentry work -- and also for help with the inevitable repair work associated with living in a historic Boston home.

Our multi-tenant brownstone building has been undergoing a major renovation that includes carpentry work - rough, trim and finish - plus window replacement and new framing, waterproofing, roof and gutter work, pointing of brick, plastering and painting, and installation of new locking mechanisms and hardware for the public entry area. Decades of rot, damage from critter invasions and cheap “fix it” jobs made the project difficult to properly assess and price, but Benjamin Construction took it on with the necessary knowledge, experience and energy needed to get it completed on time and with very few hiccups. They coordinated all the subcontractors so there was little downtime (HUGE!) and managed the complicated billing for both the condo association and the individual units. Communication and quality of work were excellent, especially when it really mattered, i.e. in material selection for corbels, dentils, hardware and special situations that only experienced contractors can anticipate. It is clear that Benjamin Construction has good relationships with their subcontractors because they showed up when they said they would despite the tight labor market. This was especially appreciated since we were living behind netted scaffolding and wanted nothing more than to finish this project on time. I would recommend Benjamin Construction for interior work as well, as we benefited from their finished carpentry skills in several places. Matt and Team were a pleasure to work with despite the stresses of the project.

I cannot find ENOUGH superlatives to describe my experience with Matt Serreze and Benjamin Construction. Exquisitely thorough, thoughtful, and painstaking in approach, the firm is truly one in which a homeowner may convey her or his sanctuary with COMPLETE confidence that the matter at hand will be addressed in a stunningly swift time frame; the work will be completed to the highest standard of care and craftmanship and artistry; and the interaction will be utterly reassuring and calm (NO DRAMA!). These folks are the epitome of PROFESSIONAL, with a depth of knowledge and a scope of experience that is unique, in my experience, in the business. A homeowner would be so lucky to be welcomed into the firm's fold!!

I used Benjamin for a whole home renovation project in 2018-2019. They were amazing. The work is beautiful and holding up well. They simply do great work. They were recommended to me by friends who said they never want to use another contractor and I feel the same.

Highlights included:
*good communication throughout
*professional and respectful subcontractors
* when unexpected problems came up were creative about solving them and worked with me until we found a solution satisfied me
* amazing follow through to the very end of the punch list!

The folks at Benjamin Construction did a great job on several punch list items that required attention in our newly renovated home. They were friendly, efficient, and great at problem solving, with a keen attention to detail. I would recommend them for any job big or small.

We worked with Benjamin Construction on a significant house project and the end result exceeded our expectations. Benjamin Construction worked collaboratively with our design firm and also made very important recommendations which resulted in the product we envisioned and more. They were trustworthy, timely, honest, communicative and very attentive to our questions and needs. They were respectful of our home and the Condominium condo area and neighbors. Matt Serreze was the lead on the project and he was great to work with – highly skilled and knowledgeable while offering supreme customer service. Matt’s knowledge, experience and temperament gave us full confidence in him and peace of mind. Andre was amazing and John Benjamin was available to us every step of the way. Following this project, Benjamin is our go to for all projects – they are responsive and can tackle any project with professionalism, ingenuity and client satisfaction. We would unconditionally recommend them as a contractor.

Matt & his subcontractors (carpenters and roofer) repaired my roof hatch that was originally installed improperly by a different company. They got it in great working condition again! Old South End buildings are rarely straightforward when it comes to renovations, but Matt and his team were always creative with problem solving and aim to exceed your expectations. I was very grateful for Matt's communication, and his group's professionalism. It's the details that matter in home renovations - clear expectations, schedule, budget, design, etc. This group really pays attention to the details! Not only do I highly recommend Benjamin Construction, but I plan on using them for my next project too.

Matt and his team recently completed repairs to our roof deck. The work was done quickly, the people reliably showed up each day, and the work was great. They kept us informed of their progress.

When they first came over to assess the work to be done (which was easy to arrange; we find them very responsive), they spent enough time that there were no surprises later and we felt very comfortable with the scope of work.

They have now done several projects for us and we would expect to use them for any future needs.

We contracted with Benjamin Construction for a major renovation of our condominium and also an upgrade to the shared common space in our building. The condo project included remodeling of three bathrooms, refinishing all hardwood floors, revamping kitchen cabinetry, replacing countertops and island stone, and installing a new rear entrance door and frame. The common space upgrade entailed replacing the stone flooring, painting, updating handrails, refurbishing the front doors and restoring the integrity of the frame steps leading to upper floors. We were 100% satisfied with the craftsmanship of the work done. Matt Serreze and his team maintained exemplary standards, including a commitment to regular and detailed communication that took place during the various stages of the project. The designs were completed within the scope of the project plan estimate, and staff remained present and available until the last detail was finished. We would contract with Benjamin Construction again without reservation, and enthusiastically recommend them to anyone needing home construction/management, remodeling, or renovations.

Benjamin Construction did an incredible job on our townhouse renovation. The work began in early February 2021 and was completed by late June that same year. We renovated our kitchen, living area, and half bath, as well as foyer, stairs and halls from entryway to roof. We knew we had chosen the right contractor as soon as we began explaining what we wanted done to Matt Serreze, Benjamin’s Operations Manager. Matt listened carefully to us and worked with us to attain what we envisioned. Our experience with Benjamin went beyond our expectations in quality, design options and timely completion. Even after the project was completed and we wanted a few more things addressed, Benjamin returned quickly and provided us with quality service and craftsmanship. We highly recommend Benjamin Construction for any construction project.

We used Benjamin Construction for a complete kitchen renovation and the installation of a deck off the kitchen. From the beginning to the end, Benjamin was incredible. I have never worked with such a professional and talented group of people. Not only was their craftsmanship outstanding, but they were timely with communication, transparent with billing and costs, and they were so respectful of us and our home. I highly recommend Benjamin. They do not disappoint!

We've hired Benjamin Construction for two small projects on an historic home - one was a leaky hobbit door in the basement and the other to repair rotting wooden window frames and replacement of window boxes. Both projects were completed well and the carpentry work was excellent. We are now 2 years out on our hobbit door and the work has been holding up through many rainy seasons. The window box repair was done to our satisfaction and appears much more structurally sound than previously. We appreciated the care and detail in looking into sources of problems rather than bandaid solutions. In all, highly recommend.

Benjamin Construction completed two projects for us. First was a complete renovation to our condo's kitchen, bathroom and living area, and last year we called them back for a bedroom renovation, which included the installation of a bookcase and window seat with storage below, recessed ceiling lights, and wall sconces.

Benjamin's Operations Manager (Matt) kept us promptly informed throughout these two projects, and his team was very respectful of our condominium's rules and requirements for common area cleanliness.

Equally important, Benjamin managed the relationship with both project designers quite well, and while this can be a sensitive issue, it was clear that they protected and served our interests.

If we would ever do another renovation in the Boston area, we wouldn't hesitate to contact Benjamin Construction again.
