Ben and his team did a fantastic job on our landscaping project. We had multiple choices for rock, edging, plants, etc, etc. The crew was polite and courteous, they were always asking what we thought and were open to suggestions and were open to change. Our job was planned to be done in 2 phases. They arrived on day 1 and stayed until the job was done. How nice was that?? It was done EARLY by a month or so. The price was fair and the quote was detailed. I will use them again and recommend everyone to give them a call.

I do not recommend Ben Griffin and BB Landscaping. Ben Griffin will take shortcuts during installation that you as the homeowner, will not see at first, if they think they can get away with it. Even as simple as overlapping landscape fabric, which I reminded them to do multiple times, so grass and weeds do not make their way through the mulch. Only to find out after moving the mulch aside when they completed the project, that there was almost a one-foot gap.
Ben Griffin and his workers did not compact and level our walkway, which ended up settling shortly after, resulting in pavers migrating and creating gaps. This is why I think one of our prefab concrete steps cracked within a few months. Ben had a quick and easy fix for this rather than do it right; since the cracked step was at the bottom, he planned to cut the step off and then glue a new step back, unfortunately which would have resulted in a larger, more obvious crack.
We worked through these issues together and so I hired Ben Griffen and his team to install a flagstone walkway in fall 2024. We have multiple major problems with the walkway, especially the joint compound they used between the stone. I believe the workers were in a hurry to get some place else for the weekend (as they stated), so they cut as many corners as they possibly could and as a Manager Ben failed to take action to make it right.
First, they did not use care to remove the joint compound from the surface of the flagstone before watering and setting. This resulted in many of the beautiful flagstones being completely covered with joint compound. Ben's fix for this initially was to tell me that "it will just wear off with traffic, and if you have a one-stage snowblower that will help this winter." This was not acceptable to me, and so I did get them to come back, and they used chemicals and tools to scrape it off the flagstone, still only able to get about 70% off, not acceptable.
The second major problem with our walkway that is resulting in its failure is because they stated they “left some of the leveling stone in the joints so they didn’t have to use as much joint compound,” and I figured they knew what they were doing. In less than a month, the joints were bubbling up, peeling and cracking, and separating from the flagstone. In some spaces between stones the entire joint had no compound and only leveling gravel. In some places, leveling gravel is sticking up through the joint compound.
Looking into the polymeric sand, they used Techniseal ProSeries NOCO for the joints, according to the manufacturer's guidelines, it was supposed to be at least 1 inch thick. When I sent them pictures of the joints showing them that it was only at most a quarter inch thick, they refused to return emails, voicemails, or text messages. I let it go because it was the start of winter and my last email said I would contact them again in the spring, which I have now done several times.
Ben Griffen couldn't even give me the time of day, or was too embarrassed by the work he did, to even respond to my emails and texts or come out to look it over. Ben’s wife Kellie Griffin responded to the most recent email stating “Nature, wildlife and traffic can cause premature wear…and it was laid correctly”. I had to remind Kellie Griffin that I started sending out emails about the joint compound less than a month after the project was completed with pictures showing the depth of joint compound being less than a quarter inch in some places.

So, I am sorry but the answer is not “Nature, wildlife and traffic can cause premature wear” when the walkway has failed in multiple places in less than a month given the product was not laid down properly by the manufacturer's recommendations. So, no I would not recommend hiring Ben Griffin and BB Landscaping.
