He also explained that a proper flush should only take about three seconds, and if it takes longer, the toilet might be too old because calcium builds up and can’t be cleared out. Next time, we’ll remember to shut off the water to save water if this happens again, and we might try a simple fix ourselves. We are still very glad we had the plumber take care of it this time.
