A little about me. I was in the process of moving from NYC to NJ. I'm a first time home buyer and I was frustrated no end at the incompetence as well as the delays of the local NJ contractors. One night, I drove out from NYC to inspect the work, I walked in the kitchen, flipped the light switch on, and there was a flash of light as the power blew out, and then there was the smell of smoke.

I panicked! I half heartedly Googled contractors in the area. Luckily, Jim Petrocelli picked up. He said although he was finished for the night (It was 9:30 PM). I guess I sounded like a lunatic, He said, although he and his son were on their way home and were finished for the day, they would do me a favor and stop by. It was 10:17 PM. Me, I was besides myself. Mad, frustrated, disalusioned. Jim walked in, wisecracking, and within 5 minutes, located the problem, opened up the dark stained wall and had shown me the burnt wires. Not only did he rewire the entire wall that evening (while I did a Woody Allan on him), but repaired, sealed up and repainted the wall. It looks as if there was never a problem. The time was now, well after 1 AM in the morning.

He gave me excellent advice while he worked which I brought to the attention of the other contractors. When I mentioned Jim's name, every local contractor I spoke to, their ears perked up and listened. Now, I expected an insane bill for this emergency service and I would have gladly paid it, but it was extremely reasonable, considering what the other contractors were charging me.

I hesitate, even now, to write this review because I've tried to get him back. He told me he'd come, but, he's been so busy, I would have to wait. He told me that evening was a fluke and I had reached him at just the right time.

So far, Petrocelli and Son's are the only contractor I've had do work on my new house who went above and beyond the extra step, First: To complete the job (while dealing with me panicking and freaking out) and second, and most importantly: To make sure the job is done right. I agree with yelp's 5 star rule, Petrocelli & Sons are really, As good as it gets.

And if Jim reads this, again I want to thank him.

James is the best electrician, hands down on the east coast ... Petrocelli and Son, know their business. Saved me a lot of $$ making sure I met local state building specs. Prices are very reasonable. They're fast and they do a phenomenal job.

Mr. Petrocelli fixed 2 problems on short notice and another over the phone (which really surprised me). He was great to deal with and thoroughly professional. I highly recommend him. In fact I will be recommending him to my mother in law who needs work done as soon as I complete this review.

Had pool heater installed two years ago and The wiring was not 100% correctly done. Jimmy with great knowledge and years of experience in the trade came in and communicated clearly with me and not only finished the job, fixed the problem also give me peace of mind to know my pool is safe now. He is a professional who do not cut corners and he is going to get the job done right. I know I will call him again if needed.

Jim was super knowledgeable, found the issue in no time and was even gave me tips to avoid future problems. I've been searching for a reliable, trustworthy and skilled electrician and I think I've found the one. 100% highly recommended.

I recently had the pleasure in meeting the electrician Jimmy Petrocelli after calling his company Pereocelli & Sons to inquire if any assistance could be provided to get our generator started. I expected a host of responses to the inquiry made from [“the next available appointment would be…” -to- “no”] but what I did not expect was the response received “…I will be right over, what’s your address”. Upon his arrival, he immediately got to work on the generator, replacing a damaged part and disassembling some components in order to clean them before making the determination that the unit would require more servicing than what could be preformed on the spot that day. So Jimmy offered me the use of his small portable generator until I was able to get the additional required mechanical services. His prompt assistance and willingness to provide a temporary solution for me until such time as my generator could be repaired, was a very uncommon professional courtesy and one that was very much so appreciated in a time need. So in closing, I would not hesitate to call on and hire “Jimmy” of Pereocelli & Sons again and would strongly suggest for others to call him first whenever you’re in need of an electrician - as I believe that you too will be pleasantly surprised by his uncommon professional service and willingness to do whatever is required, to get you the assistance needed at the time.

I remain amazed with Jim’s wide ranging expertise, problem solving abilities, and professionalism. He made an effort to first understand my needs and then offered solutions that were more elegant than anything that I could have come up with on my own. He performed his work efficiently and with a quiet confidence and temperament that made me feel at ease. I cannot recommend him highly enough for any job large or small.

WOW! I do not have the words to describe how pleased, impressed and satisfied I am with Petrocelli & Sons Electric Co. Words like professional, knowledgeable, reliable, friendly, good quality, excellent value, etc. do not accurately or adequately describe my experience and overall impression of them. The feeling I have is: barring an absolute emergency, I move from the area, or their unavailability, I will NEVER use another electrician to service my Bergen County home again! NEVER!

Petrocelli has been our go-to since moving to Closter 2.5 years ago. It's usually impossible to get the perfect combo of prompt service, fair pricing, and amazing work--believe me when I say that Jim has all that, and more. A super-nice guy who knows how to do the job right, I couldn't recommend Petrocelli & Sons more.
