I purchased my house knowing that my yard needed a lot of work. It was a hodgepodge of overgrown shrubs, broken flagstone and rotting railroad ties, an assortment of potted plants and a random splattering of multiple different types of gravel.

I found Whelchel & Gleason via my Landscape Architect (Michael Polikoff Landscapes, who I would also highly recommend) and decided to go with Whelchel & Gleason on the basis of their detailed proposal, fair prices, and obvious professionalism. Bill Whelchel was very warm and approachable, professional, creative and worked well with my landscape architect. Bill was very helpful to figure out how to break the total project into phases, and he finished the first phase of the project on time and right on budget. No complications, no drama, no cutting corners, and everything was done right the first time. When corrections were necessary he and his team were right on it. Could not ask for more.

My new backyard is absolutely beautiful and really transformed the look of my property. It looks well planned and finished. I would highly recommend Whelchel & Gleason for your landscaping project.

We just moved into a brand new house with bare dirt in the backyard. Dimitri met with us to walk through the yard. He listened to what we liked and our ideas. He provided a great plan that included trees, plants, a flagstone path, and a sideway around the side of our house from front to back. His plan was beyond our expectations and we loved it. Sergio and his crew implemented Dimitri's plan expertly and very efficiently. We were very happy with how quickly the work was completed and by such professional yet friendly staff. Dimitri checked in with us regularly so communication was fantastic. The crew cleaned up everything when the job was completed. We have nothing but good things to say about Dimitri, Sergio, and the crew. We would definitely recommend this company for anyone with landscaping needs.

Had used Whelchel Landscaping 25 years ago when they had first started out. We had since moved to a different home and needed some landscape updating. Bill and Demitri came on time to give us a estimate. We needed gravel and plants added,some grass removed, sprinkler update,and a large tree removed that was pushing up against a common wall. Team showed up on time and all were very friendly and helpful. They took the tree down which was incredible to watch because they had to protect the wall and the adjacent pool. Workers were so efficient, and knowledgeable. The final product is beautiful and Dimitri was a pleasure to work with. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND...This job was done as well as it was 25 years ago!

I used Whelchel Construction on two separate occasions and am very pleased with the work that they did for me at my home. My search is finally over. After years of trying different landscapers, I’ve found the best for yard maintenance. Their attention to detail was so appreciated, as my yard has various gardens and varieties of plants. When they weren’t sure about how I would want something, they simply asked. Believe it or not, this is hard to find. They were also knowledgeable about what many of my plants were, despite still being dormant. Other landscapers were doing a cookie cutter spring cleanup, while Whelchel was actually taking care of every detail unique to my individual yard. Although they didn’t know it, they also came at a difficult time. Our old and deeply loved little dog had just passed away and we’d buried her in a garden at the side of the house. I made her a little stepping stone and set it down where she was buried. Knowing the yard was a mess and the landscapers were coming, I decided I would go back later and properly get her stone situated after they were done. The day after they finished, my husband and I went out to take care of her stone and it was already done. Neatly set flush into the gravel and cleaned off.

The Whelchel team, lead by Dmitri Almanzar, exceeded our expectations. Dmitri LISTENED when we told him what we wanted and designed a plan that captured our vision. Work crews, from demo to irrigation to planting to masonry were exceptional. Everyone showed up when they said they would, did the work beautifully, cleaned up after themselves, and were pleasant to have around. The project was completed in the promised time-frame and looks wonderful. We absolutely recommend this company!

Whelchel has been amazing in the landscaping of our front yard! They show up on time, the crew is easy to be around and respectful, they are meticulous and careful with their work , they do exactly what you ask, and they even clean up after themselves. We have been super impressed with this company and cannot recommend it highly enough. We can't wait to get the backyard done! With this company, you get what you pay for!

We hired Whelchel Landscaping for a major landscaping project in our backyard. The company was outstanding from start to finish. Ray Whelchel identified our needs, submitted a fantastic design, and guided us through the process. The construction crew worked hard, communicated well, and completed the project on time. The final results are incredible, and all the work was done to a very high standard. We are incredibly happy with Whelchel’s work and recommend them enthusiastically.

From start to finish, doing business with Whelchel Landscaping was fantastic. Dmitri provided us with clearly laid out plans and fair pricing for our custom paver project and he was wonderful to work with. Even the owner, Bill Whelchel, came out a couple of times to make sure we were satisfied with some changes that had to be made. Their workers were polite, punctual, professional, and took obvious pride in their work. We are getting ready to do a second project with them. We highly recommend them for your landscaping projects.

We had a small wall installed on the side of our home to replace a cheap metal fence, planted a new tree with new irrigation lines, and moved a couple rose bushes. The quality and efficiency of the work Whelchel did was wonderful. The masonry and landscaping was perfect and the crew got it done in two days between larger projects they had going on. It says a lot about a company when they're willing to put in extra effort instead of wasting downtime.

Working with Dmitri was easy from the start, and he was flexible with scheduling a time to discuss the project, and quick to provide a quote as well as staying in contact with us throughout. The whole crew was very pleasant, friendly, hardworking and respectful, and they explained what they did with a few added suggestions to make sure people like us (non-green thumbs) didn't ruin everything.

I discovered Whelchel Landscaping while searching for low-maintenance landscaping options. Dimitri visited my home to discuss several possibilities. His openness, honesty, and helpfulness stood out, making me feel confident in choosing them even as I sought quotes from other companies. Eventually, Whelchel's quote was the most affordable, so it became a no-brainer for me to pick them. They started the next day and completed the project in just a few days. Throughout the process, Dimitri maintained efficient communication, keeping me updated on the progress and schedule. My dog got super excited when we introduced her to the new backyard! Overall, it was a 5/5 experience. Highly recommended!

Dimitri's crew did a fantastic job. After being totally blown off by several other companies never returning estimates. We turned to Whelchel. We needed a concrete patio designed and poured. Whelchel promptly gave us an estimate, scheduled the job and even worked us in early. Dimitri's crew performed the work quickly and efficiently and cleaned up the job site. Bill Whelchel and his crews completely transformed our back lot with landscaping, plants, irrigation system, terracing, and concrete steps going down to our lower level. Bill is personable, professional, and highly skilled in landscape architecture. He is a man of high integrity and is dedicated to his customers’ satisfaction. After we shared a very vague concept with him, he conceived of a plan almost immediately that fit our needs. His crews were reliable, hard-working, courteous, and responsive. They worked hard and competently. The entire job took just over a week. I hired Whelchel Landscaping a second time to landscape and terrace around our detached building, as well as grade and install a compacted gravel driveway leading up to the building’s roll-up doors. The results exceeded expectations and transformed a dirty, weedy area into a clean, maintenance-free space. I would not hesitate to use Whelchel Landscaping again for future projects on our property. Ray, Dave, and the crew were awesome! They were there every day, on time and ready to work. They answered all my questions and did a fantastic job on the yard. They are a great team and I'm glad we close Whelchel Landscape and Construction to redo our yard.

We had a great experience with the Whelchel team, from design to customer service to workmanship to professionalism. The team helped us with design, having great ideas about plants. The work started in a reasonable timeframe as promised and was completed in a timely manner. Communication with Sam was very easy as she was always responsive to our requests for information. My husband and I bought a home around two years ago with a big and sloped backyard. We didn’t know exactly what to do with it. A friend recommended Whelchel Landscaping and I am so glad we chose to work with the Whelchel team. They helped us come up with a design for the backyard, and they agreed to do the work in phases. The first phase is now complete. They built a beautiful retaining wall, and they really transformed the look of our backyard.
