We were in need of repair work for our pavers patio which included re sanding,leveling and sealing.The attention to detail and communication and quality of the work done,was fantastic.

We have used 1st Impressions for two new home builds. The first included a lawn, paver patio, and landscaping. The second project included lawn installation and landscaping. John and his team are honest, professional, and fair. They work hard to give you what you want but are also knowledgeable to be able to offer advice and help steer you away from bad decisions. We have the nicest lawn in the neighborhood, they solved our water issues with strategic drainage and plantings, and will have our business any day of the week. Can't say enough great things!

The entire crew at 1st Impressions did a great job from start to finish and treated our backyard project as if it was their own home. Early on in the project, we had an issue with some of the building materials and they handled it professionally and took care of this issue immediately. I would highly recommend 1st Impressions and actually have to a number of friends and neighbors.

John and his team have completed multiple projects over that past several years at our house. These projects have ranged from simply adding landscape lighting to designing and installing a new paver patio. Clearly we have been very satisfied with their work and customer service.

I got my patio done by them and the service was amazing! All the guys were super informative and helpful throughout the process. My patio came out looking exactly how I imagined it would. I would recommend this company to my friends and family.

I reached out to John online after having a terrible experience with another contractor, who was supposed to repair and rebuild our patio steps. John contacted me the very next day and came out shortly thereafter. My husband and I were reluctant to hire another contractor based on our previous experience, but John was incredibly understanding and patient with us throughout the whole process. John’s design suggestions were very focused on safety and on little details to make the stairs look beautiful. After John and his crew fixed the steps, they quickly have turned into our favorite feature in our backyard. We will definitely hire 1st Impressions again for all future patio projects!

My wife and I wanted to replace our 20+ year old paver patio because it was looking rough. We couldn’t keep the weeds out of it, various stones were sinking or sticking up, and the pavers were faded and showing a lot of aggregate. I had talked to John at 1st Impressions last year about replacing it, and he patiently explained how to do it right and the general cost. His approach was going to cost a lot more money than we were prepared to spend. I talked to a couple people about rehabbing it, but they did that contractor thing where they kind of disappeared.

We thought about it for a year and, looking out the windows at our weedy uneven patio this spring, got in touch with John again. We had a few conversations and then John and Jake, the designer, came out to look at our current patio and talk about things. My wife and I decided to add a gas fire pit with a sitting wall (the expensive but common “while-we’re-at-it” syndrome). Jake drew up a beautiful patio and landscaping plan and provided a line-item estimate. It was a lot of money, but the line items explained why. The patio would be on a 4-inch bed of concrete so the pavers wouldn’t move despite the freezing and thawing of the ground. That’s not inexpensive. And there were many other nice details, including replacing a lot of our current landscaping.

We revised the drawings a few times and 1st Impressions began tearing out our old patio in early August. In early September, the new patio was finished and the new landscaping installed. How was the experience? It was very good. It was clear to us from the start that the installers were meticulous in their work, and it shows. I’m happy to say that there was never an uh-oh moment when we thought we might have made a mistake in proceeding with the new patio or that it wasn’t going to be as nice as we had hoped. John kept in touch with us throughout the project to make sure we liked what we were seeing, and the results were excellent. All in all, working with 1st Impressions was a very good experience and my wife and I feel our money was well spent.

Complete redesign of backyard patio, sidewalks, landscaping and creating a firepit area. 1st Impression’s quality of construction was top notch. We partnered with crew for irrigation, lighting and softscape work. Overall design created a warm and inviting outdoor living space.

Couldn’t be happier with the job done by 1st Impressions! We were looking for a way to expand our space off the existing deck in the back yard. After consultation with John from 1st Impressions we decided to investigate pavers instead of stamped concrete. John had some great ideas drawn from over 30 years of experience and Zech presented us with a 3D rendering that sold us on the plan. The four inch concrete paver base with many footers for support of the retaining walls made this a really solid build. The recessed lighting in the steps, retaining walls and grill provides great shielded illumination without being obtrusive and is a nice security measure as well. Wrapping the patio around the hot tub and framing it with a retaining wall was another suggestion and it integrates the deck into the patio so nicely. The job also included removal of two trees along with excavation and running gas and electrical lines. Not a low budget project but one that will stand the test of time, is first class and just what we were looking for and more. I wish I had before pictures as the transformation is stunning!
John and Zech were great to work with and were in constant communication along the way. They sent a four man crew and others to do the work and everything was completed on schedule.

Called multiple times and left voicemails. Never had a phone call returned. I was trying to request a quote.

I had worked with them on a HUGE product for years. When it came down to the details they did what they wanted and I came home to surprises. A railing was placed wrong on my side steps and super late to a point it was done and I came home from surgery while they werw doing it which was extremely unprofessional and inconvenient. They also poorly built my steps for the platform to my pool. They are so narrow I cannot walk up them straight. I begged for them to be fixed and they ghosted me. Now I am struggling to find someone else to fix them and its a nightmare.

Update: I was contacted over the winter. It was a good conversation and we agreed to meet in the spring as the backyard could not be viewed when covered in snow. At first I was getting replies to email, but then nothing. I have followed up politely, but as of today I have not heard back, no date set for a visit. I was really excited to get some thing resolved, but now just bummed again.

Met w/ Zech and presented well. Had lots of credentials and had some good portfolio work. My reason for the one star review has less to do with the work 1st impressions may do but with their sales process. Left several messages for Zech that went unreturned and when I did finally call back the third time I expressed my concerns with moving forward and his response was "let's part ways".

Initially very impressed with their design and efficiency of their team, but after final payment installation their responsiveness essentially became non-existent. Took over 3 months for a "custom" fit trellis to be built and installed despite multiple conversations with their designer (when the entire yard took <2 weeks to complete). Once installed, it became evident it was not custom built for the space and they had to cut their previous work to make it fit, completely ruining the stonework. Designer stated he would come by and assess the work, but has ignored all communication since. Overall most of the work they did was reasonable, but could not recommend, very disappointed in their professionalism and lack of attention to details.
