Highly recommend Peter and his team. They have been working hard on our backyard reno for the past few weeks. Peter was always punctual, communicative and delivered nothing but the highest quality products and services! What was a “hubby, you’re doing too much let’s get a quote for a team to do it so you can spend more time with the little guy” turned into a full blown service and fixing drainage issues. Couldn’t be more happier than the team doing the work though. Glad it’s all being done and done right. I will be recommending Hogar Landscaping to friends and family.

Peter's work was prompt and efficient from start to finish. He gave me smart suggestions that improved the results over how I first thought to have it done. My neighbours keep complimenting on the good job he did and we are proud of the results. I would not hesitate to have Peter undertake additional projects on my sites. He was very polite and easy to work with.

Hogar was a great contractor to work with. They built a deck for us at a very reasonable price and did it efficiently. Peter is very polite and respectful and was super easy to work with whenever we had a question or needed clarification. The quality of the deck is very good to. They don't cut corners or try and squeeze every dollar. I highly recommend them. I will be using them to complete my fence as well.

    Extremely Unprofessional and Unreliable Experience

I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but I feel it’s important to share my experience with Hogar Landscaping so others can make an informed decision.

I contacted Peter from Hogar Landscaping in March for a backyard project. He came to assess the work on March 21st. I requested a detailed breakdown of the estimate so I could prioritize tasks within my budget. While he did eventually provide the breakdown on March 31st after a couple of reminders, things went downhill from there.

I had informed Peter about my 3 weeks planned vacation to Peru in early April (for my daughter’s birthday) well in advance, and resumed communication immediately after returning. On May 1st, I called him to confirm that I was ready to move forward. Peter agreed to do the job and assured me multiple times it would be completed before May 24th, as we had a family baby shower scheduled at our home.

I followed up several times—on May 5th and May 7th—to reconfirm, and he responded positively, even saying he would rearrange his schedule to "squeeze me in." Despite my repeated attempts to get a clear start date, he only replied the morning of May 10th, asking if he could stop by with just 30 minutes’ notice. I had a pre-scheduled doctor’s appointment that morning but offered to meet earlier or right after—still, Peter chose to cancel the job altogether without any valid reason.

He also falsely claimed that I didn’t leave a deposit—I was never asked for one. If a deposit was needed to secure the job, he should have communicated that clearly, which never happened. What’s worse is that he accused me of making excuses and even implied I threatened him when all I did was express my disappointment and mention that I would leave a review based on my experience.

Because of this last-minute cancellation, I am now forced to hire another contractor at a significantly higher cost just to get the job done before our event on May 24th. This entire experience has been stressful and frustrating.

I would strongly caution anyone considering Hogar Landscaping to think twice. Professionalism, clear communication, and reliability are basic expectations—unfortunately, I didn’t get any of that here.
