I can't say enough about Ben and Hanley's Landscaping. Last Spring my husband and I had some major health problems and our flower beds were so full of weeds and overgrown by Fall we were embarrassed. We were at a loss until we found Ben on line. I called and left a message. He responded right away and we discussed my yard. He did not hesitate to schedule us at a mutually convenient time and priced our job very reasonably. He showed up as promised. When he was finished I could not believe how perfect our beds looked. Seriously, they were so neat and clean, I was thrilled! I intend to use this company to mulch and trim this Spring and as often as I need them. Thank you, Ben! My daughter recently moved to Newport and has an old house near downtown the was badly in need of some TLC. I visited for 5 days 2 weeks ago and helped her settle in. The house had a nice brick paver patio in the back that was over grown with weeds and had several large metal trash items. I called Hanley and spoke to Ben, the manager asking him if he could send someone over quickly to clean it up. It was late April in the middle of their busiest season and I was calling at the last minute with a very small job. Ben came out the next day to look at the situation, gave me a very fair price and then sent a crew to do the work within a couple of days. They did a great job! But what was even more impressive to me was the professional level of communication & response I received on a very small job in the middle of their busiest season. Hanley is the best!!

Hanley recently completed a project at my home to transform a tired 10x10 concrete slab into a beautiful, functional outdoor space featuring a bluestone patio, deck, drainage, and plantings.

From the moment I contacted them, Ben was responsive, friendly, and knowledgeable. He came out the very next day to discuss the project and asked thoughtful questions about our vision, the types of trees and plantings we were interested in, and our budget. He quickly got to work developing a detailed design.

Ben was patient as my wife and I went through several design iterations. Once we finalized the initial concept, he provided a well-organized bid with a range of pricing options. This allowed us to prioritize the features we wanted while staying within our budget. His design was creative and included thoughtful elements we wouldn't have come up with on our own. I was especially impressed by his deep knowledge of plants — he recommended species that would thrive in our region and resist common pests and diseases.

One thing that really stood out was Ben’s honesty and transparency. During the planning phase, he pointed out a few parts of the job where we could save money by using a smaller company. He left the decision up to us — whether to have Hanley handle everything or take on a bit more involvement ourselves to reduce costs. That kind of integrity is rare and much appreciated.

Once construction began, Ben was on-site daily to ensure everything stayed on track. The Hanley crew was professional, friendly, and punctual. When a few minor issues came up with a subcontractor handling the deck, Ben addressed them promptly and effectively, resulting in a final product we absolutely love. The bluestone patio is stunning, and Ben’s idea to edge it with granite cobble really elevates the space.

Communication throughout the project was excellent. Ben responded to every question — whether about design, scheduling, or the work itself — the same day. Even after the project wrapped up, his follow-up has been top-notch. He’s remained just as responsive and has promptly addressed a couple of small items we pointed out post-installation.

Overall, we’re thrilled we chose Hanley for this project. The transformation of our backyard has earned compliments from neighbors, and we now have an outdoor space we truly enjoy. I’ll definitely turn to Hanley for any future landscaping needs and won’t hesitate to recommend them to friends and family.

After buying our first historical home and fixing up the interior, we didn’t even know how to start the outside. We were recommended to meet with several other landscape firms by our architect, and the sales approach that we were getting from other groups was off putting. We started asking around to properties in Newport that had yards we liked, and heard Hanley more than once. During the first meeting, we met with a designer, not a salesperson. He walked us through our property and seemed to know every plant and tree on our property. We weren’t sure how to budget the project and decided to sign onto the design and work with them to figure out what numbers make sense. We were seriously impressed with the level of detail that they go into with the design, and we didn’t feel like we were pressured at any point of the project. Construction started at the end of Summer and finished in the fall of 2025. To say that we are very happy with the work and craftsmanship would be an understatement. The level of detail is magazine worthy. I never thought we’d get more compliments on our landscape than our home. I’d highly recommend working with Hanley to anyone asking me.
