Susie has created the most beautiful garden outside my home where everything was all drab and dull and boring before. She's lovely to work with, communicative, and really took the time to listen to what we liked and wanted. Cannot recommend her enough!! The garden is still in progress and I can't wait to see how it turns out - will be back with pictures!

I have an old and very large garden. Susie has transformed it into a beauty! She is reliable, kind, and knowledgeable. I look forward to spring when it will be a haven of relaxing and lovely flowers. I highly recommend Susie's business. And now. 3 months later, my garden is a beautiful English garden! In the spring these young plants will be growing and lush. I'm very grateful!

While I love to garden, my skills at design are limited. I also never thought about seasonal color throughout the year. Susie’s first consultation with me opened up so many possibilities for a garden that I would enjoy caring for and nurturing. Susie sought my input, offered options and was always sensitive to working around my aesthetic hopes and financial resources. Throughout the spring and into summer, she has created a magical environment in my backyard with designs and landscaping that I would never have thought about. Her skills and passion are obvious. She is honest, attentive and organized, managing all the elements of the process with ease. She also has encouraged me to think outside of the box in other areas of my yard. Each evening as I water the gardens or sit in their presence, I am so happy to have found Susie to help transform my backyard. My husband calls this “our sanctuary”, which is simple, but accurate. I looked forward to the watch these gardens through the seasons and to marvel at their changing beauty each time.

We just finished working with Susie on a complete redesign of our garden and our front landscape. Susie took our garden personally and welcomed our input. She knows and loves plants and how to care for them. We will continue to consult with her as our garden matures.

Susie has helped me transform my entire backyard into a beautiful set of gardens! She was able to work with my ideas for the space(really ugly) and has created multiple beautiful gardens while also pointing me to excellent vendors for the hardscape and tree work. Each garden area has a different focus; sun garden, shade garden, prettying up a fence line, foundational plantings and more. Her knowledge of plants and how they fit together to create a beautiful space is unmatched! We are 1 year into a 2 year project and I am already very happy with it. I can't wait to work on the rest! Susie was so helpful in designing my pollinator garden for my seasonal home in Vermont. Because I'm not there year-round, she focused on designing a low maintenance and visually appealing garden that I could come back to each season. She was a pleasure to work with and has such a create eye. I would highly recommend!

Susie at Vermont Garden Design has been very helpful to work with as I seek to improve the landscaping in the front of my house. She has innovative ideas, extensive knowledge of native plants and an excellent sense of how to create balance and harmony of color and form through the seasons.
It was like Christmas in July for me when the new plants arrived! Because of the timing of the excavation work in June, Susie came several times in July to plant a whole canvas of colorful, interesting perennials. Getting many compliments on the curbside appeal. I’ll be inspired to get my watercolors out and invite my friends over to paint the garden as it thrives over time. Highly recommend!

Working with Susie has been an absolute joy from start to finish. I’ve truly enjoyed working with her and learning how to maximize the beauty of my front yard garden. My 20-year-old plantings had become vastly overgrown and in need of a strong edit, and Susie brought exactly the vision, knowledge, and artistry required to breathe new life into it. Susie knew what to keep and what to move or simply “get rid of.” She reimagined the space into three distinct “garden rooms”—a radiant sun garden, a serene shade garden, and a beautifully balanced mixed sun/shade garden—each connected by a graceful garden path that invites exploration.

Her thoughtful focus on flowering perennials and silver-leafed plants means my color-blind husband can enjoy the textures, forms, and subtle contrasts alongside me, which makes the garden even more meaningful for us both.
