Great experience with Mares. Brain was great. Had a tough replacement of a bad thermostat cable. He wouldn't give up and got it done. Mares should be proud to have him.

I’ve used Mares previously for home repairs and remodeling but this time my A/C failed this hot, humid June 2, 2022. Rather than call these HVAC companies that tout there business on television, I chose to go with Mares,, a local Poquoson business. I was not disappointed. I called Mares knowing possibly that my service request may be put on the bottom of the service availability list but they worked to get me in the same day.

My kudos to Ray Daubert, the HVAC technician that arrived. The day time temp was 94, hot, humid, and sticky but this didn’t deter Ray to quickly get to work diagnosing and checking out the unit. He had an uncanny ability to discern and narrow the problem to the capacitor. He pulled it out and tested it. He explained it to me in layman’s terms I would understand. He had to make a phone call to have another tech bring him a capacitor that specifically matched my unit. Less than a half-hour later, the AC was cooling my house!

This is what I call professionalism, customer rapport, and attention to detail. Thank you, Mares!

We just moved into our house 5 months ago. Monday morning at work I get a call from our neighbor that water was gushing from our garage. I got home and turned off the water but I’ve never had to deal with hot water heater issues so I wasn’t sure where to start or who to call. My same awesome neighbor suggested Mares. They were able to fit us in the same day. It turned out to be a busted pipe and not the water heater. Brian was honest, professional, and kind. He gave us several options of repair, ran to the store to get needed materials, cleaned up afterwards, and had us with working water in under 2 hours. Our stressful start to the day turned out not to be as bad as I could’ve been. We’ve added Mares as our #1 phone call with their multitude of services. We recommend them to anyone in need.

I purchased a new A/C system through Mares last year when I bought my house. The install was quick and the technicians did a good job explaining everything. I've had a couple instances of small issues with parts, however Brian and the rest of the team have been a great help and are very responsive when any issues need fixing. I would recommend Mares for any of your Heating/Air needs.

I had two gas packs replaced at the same time and I usually do my own home repairs so I do have trust issues with letting somebody else work on my house. Brian came out to give me estimate and he was very knowlegeable and he did not try to up sell me. I had three other estimates and they were in the middle for price. I chose them even if the were not the lowest because I felt after taking to Brian that I knew was going to get a quailty job and equipment. he had also install a unit for my daughter and done a fantastic job.they took two days ,they were right on time and the work speaks for them . Brian and Ray did a great job. they also gave me a price break for removing the units and they also bought some r-22 for the same price I paid years ago . the other estimates would not deal on the removing the units. it was also very easy to talk to Brain and the fact that he was a Christan brother and they are a small family owned business also helped seal the deal. GREAT JOB ! Thank you very much.

I accidentally damaged the control lines to my AC unit and called the company who installed it for the repair. About $1,900 later ( replaced wires and did some unit cleaning), the AC would not come on. Keep in mind, the unit worked perfectly before I damaged the wires. I was told I needed a new zoning control board to fix the AC, another $4,200.

Thank goodness I called Mares for a 2nd opinion. They came the next day and quickly discovered the first company had forgotten to reinstall the outside temp sensor. That was quickly resolved, and then the Mares technician realized the new wiring was done incorrectly. My temp sensor was replaced, wiring corrected and- for no charge- he cleaned my furnace filters. Total bill was less than $500. The technician was honest, generous with his time, and cared about fixing my system correctly at a fair price. I am a Mares AC customer for life.

Guy came by to service AC and furnace, showed up 30 mins after appointment time, & then left a pile of dirt inside where he serviced the furnace… didn't clean it up or even offer to do so. I guess they leave all their job sites messy 🤔
