Hemax team did a great job replacing my driveway and sidewalk in a very narrow rowhouse with no access for a concrete truck. They also installed astroturf that actually looks very good. Fast response time and great communication throughout the process. I highly recommend them.

Look no further for an incredible company that you can trust completely. I had an issue that I had no idea how to fix. I had another reputable company provide an estimate, which was thousands of dollars.
Hemax Came out to give me an estimate as well They could have provided the same service for a comparable price. But Hemax really dug into the issue and I examined all of the aspects of the problem. They already knew that I would be willing to pay several thousands of dollars for a resolution. As it turned out, another much simpler solution would resolve the issue just as well. Chip from Hemax came to me and said that I did not need to spend thousands of dollars. He recommended the simpler solution that was a mere fraction of the cost and resolved my problem perfectly.

When you find a company like Hemax, you work with them, you call them back for everything, you tell your friends. I feel so fortunate to have met this company. What integrity and character this company exhibits every day!

The design, and execution of the project were flawless. The team kept us informed, and the results exceed our expectations. The crew, the management team, and the crews that worked on the project were all polite, thorough, and very neat. I cannot say enough good things about this firm!

HeMax did all of our foundation waterproofing, French drain installation, and gutter cleaning. They were absolutely amazing. They showed up on time everyday, worked incredibly hard, and got the job done above and beyond expectations. We were very satisfied with their work and would highly recommend them to anyone.

Great, professional company!!

I contracted HEMAX to do some hardscaping including a fieldstone retaining wall and flagstone patio. The final product is everything we wanted and the entire process and customer service were equally positive. Any question or interaction with HEMAX was timely and professional. They are not the cheapest option you will find but I will gladly pay a little more to have the level of communication, service, and end product that they provided. Chip Johnson at HEMAX was our primary contact and he was quick to answer questions even during the evening or weekend. We had many worries around RA, DRB, HOA, costs, design, and timelines but Chip was able assuage any doubts or worries we had throughout the project and provide options or workarounds for any issues. The working crew was professional and friendly and cleaned up the site every day. I will be using this company in the future.

I recently selected HEMAX to waterproof my basement and put several downspouts underground. From the appointment for the estimate through the project’s completion, the HEMAX team stood out for its professionalism, thoughtfulness, and attention to detail. Henry, one of the owners, personally provided the initial evaluation, taking the time to carefully discuss the entire project with me.
HEMAX’s proposal laid out the project thoroughly, the measurements were spot on, and the price was reasonable. The crew that performed the work was experienced, diligent, and polite. At the end of each day, they left the work site tidy. The walkway that they installed as part of the project to replace the one that had to be demolished to access the basement for the waterproofing provides one example of the high quality of HEMAX’s work. The crew meticulously prepared the area for the pavers ensuring that it was completely level and that all of the pavers were properly aligned. It was as if they were doing the work for their own homes. The result was a walkway that continues to receive compliments. I would use the HEMAX team again.

Hemax is one of the best contractors I've worked with in over the twenty years I have own my home. I researched and interviewed over 6 contractors for my project. I know it was going to be pricey and I had no idea what I need done, other than I had a drainage problem. All I knew was I had a drainage problem that needed to be fixed. I needed a contractor to come in and tell me what he or she can do to fix my drainage problem. I met Henry one of the owners and he explain to me how he would fix my drainage problem. Henry drew up a beautiful design. Once Henry explained his design and how it was going to work, I was very happy. I asked Henry lots of questions after showing me his design. His design was so beautiful that I start asking questions and he started giving me suggestions, because I wanted a beautiful backyard. I must also say Henry was very patient and understanding with me with all the questions. Most contractors would have been irritated. Henry was always honest and upfront with me and a man of his word. I trust Henry and Hemax Construction & Landscaping and I will be a repeat customer. If you need a contractor, please call or email Hemax first they are one of the best companies in Northern Virginia. I have one more thing to say. I know I am a customer, but I consider Henry as a friend. Because he was so honest, kind, and upfront with me. Attached are a few pictures of before and after.

Henry and Max and their crew are just amazing. We've done several projects with HeMax over the years - laying flagstone pathways, stone veneer on our house, major structural remodels, landscaping, etc. Every time, the experience has been fantastic. Henry in particular is just great to deal with - super responsive, fair, great communication... Can't ask for more. And they do exactly what they say they are going to do, on time and budget. I highly recommend HeMax.

We have had two experiences with the folks from Hemax and could not be happier. The first was two years ago when we had problems with flooding through our window well. Not only was Henry helpful in responding quickly to diagnose all of the issues that caused the problems, he worked with us and with the home owners's association on designing the best solution. We chose to have our patio replaced at the same time as the window well and are so pleased we did. Not only was the work done efficiently and on schedule, but the advice I received was most helpful in making decisions about scope and cost of the project.
Most recently, Hemax has been doing work throughout our complex and one of the HOA projects was replacing a retaining wall behind our patio fence. While we did not contract with them directly, I was kept abreast of the progress throughout the project and the managers were onsite everyday to check on the status which was completed on time. The wall is beautifully constructed and all of the surrounding area has been replanted with sod. I even met the manager this morning who was making sure they HOA staff knew to water the area regularly during the heat wave. Great job!

We found the team very courteous, skilled and professional. They are willing and open to discuss the project and our ideas . WE were kept informed of how the work was coming along each and every day and when the project would be completed. The team arrived on time, cleaned the area around the project at the end of each day. We love the finished project, which were stone landscape walls. They are beautifully done. What skill it took to complete them. WE would recommend HEMAX .

Hemax has been great, including on this recent yard work to improve our backyard. A couple of years ago, I had looked at Hemax and another company and made the poor choice of going with the other company. After that year long contract ended, I immediately signed up with Hemax for all my yard work and have never looked back. They are communicative and responsive. And their landscaping folks have been top notch!

HEMAX built us a beautiful flagstone patio, walkway, and steps on a concrete base, placed large stone steps on our hill, and set heavy capstones on an existing dry stone wall. They finished the job with lighting and drainage. We were pleased with the services we hired from HEMAX, including the initial design and consultation from Henry, as well as the expert job by the installation crew under Kelvin's supervision. HEMAX was competitive on price with bids from other landscape contractors, and we found the quality of their proposal and their work to be top-notch.

Hemax did an incredible job with a complete revamp of our backyard, to include a new deck, patio, stone work with beautiful retaining walls, stone steppers and more. The materials and workers were incredibly efficient and professional and the work is beautiful. They were so helpful from the very beginning, thoughtfully taking the time to make suggestions to bring the vision to life and then flawlessly executing. Highly recommend!

Hemax recently completed a patio, bar, fire pit and pergola in our backyard with lighting and I can’t say enough wonderful things about my experience. At every step, they were professional, engaging, thorough and committed to customer satisfaction. Then, the craftsman methodically, efficiently and carried out the design with incredible precision. I couldn’t be happier and will continue to recommend Hemax to friends and family. I’ll also quickly add that we received a beautiful landscape design from their landscape designer who specializes in native plants!

Henry and Hemax Construction & Landscaping are amazing. I had serious drainage issues in my front yard. I met with Henry and explained my issues. He asked a lot of follow up questions to confirm my water issues and to understand what I envisioned for my yard. He provided multiple options for improving the drainage and transforming my yard on the spot. Over the next few weeks, we exchanged emails and phone calls. His attention to detail & knowledge of drainage solutions helped me understand my options and create a plan for my yard.

I met with & received proposals from 3 other contactors. Hands down, Henry had the most comprehensive plan for correcting my drainage issues and understood what I envisioned my yard to be.

All work was completed timely and per the contract. The crew were diligent, professional and tidied up each afternoon before heading out. A Big Thank You to Henry, the office staff and the crew for transforming my front yard. I love it!
