I called them around 1030 because our A/C pipes had frozen, and a couple hours later a tech had arrived. He was courteous and professional and got the job done quickly without any unnecessary small talk. I will definitely use them again in the future.

John was very responsive and provided me a great deal with a new AC unit in which my old one practically failed right before our eyes. Usually I'd do a lot of research into utilities and appliances but John was the go-to within our neighborhood and I did not hesitate when he quoted me his services.

Responsive. Knowledgeable. Answered all my questions. Best price. Quick and clean installation. As of now, this is my heating and ac guy.

I called Dave at 7:30 am and explained that the fan to my furnace turns on but the flame wouldn't turn on. After a two minute conversation he believed that the ignitor was no longer functioning. He said he could be at my house between 9-11 that same morning. I messaged him my address and he sent me a message when he was on his way. He arrived at 9:10 and took off his shoes as I showed him where the furnace was. He took off the faceplate to he furnace and did a diagnostic to confirm his original assessment. He verified it was the ignitor and replaced it within 15 minutes. He handed me the original ignitor and explained to me that they typically last 8-10 years in this region. Between the fast response time, the affordable rate and the customer service, this business get my two thumbs up. I will refer anyone to this business.

Highly recommend! Called on a Friday at 2:00 p.m. with a outside temperature over 95 degrees and our AC unit not working. Call Hometown Heating and Cooling and described my problem, David and his partner were at my place an hour and a half later ready to address the issue. They were able to fix the problem and have our AC unit running in about 15 minutes. Very fair, honest and professional. Recommend to anybody have AC problems.

Our A/C went out after a storm. Called Hometown first thing in the morning and was told he could be over about 2 hours after I called. About 10 minutes later I got a call from them saying that I was on their way to another appointment so he could swing by. Before I knew it he was here and had the faulty capacitor swapped out and topped off the freon. Awesome customer service. I will be saving their number just in case I need something in the future.

Our AC wasn't working and I called to find out how much it would be for someone to come out and take a look at my AC - they were 40 dollars cheaper then the first place I called - and they could give me an EXACT time when they were going to be at my home. They showed up when they said they would and took a look at my AC in the pouring rain - they identified the problem (which turned out not to be the AC) and explained everything to me that I needed to know to have the problem fixed. Extremely professional and loved the quick response time, if we have any heating or cooling problems in the future I am ALWAYS going to call these guys and recommend them to everyone else.

My mother's AC went out and she called and they were there within 1.5 hours. A previous HVAC Co. said she needed a new unit (it was 13 years old) between 5K and 20K!! Hometown came out and fixed it for under $300 and they were so pleasant and knowledgeable. My entire family (which is extensive) will ONLY use this company from now on. A+ all the way around.

We came back from vacation to a HOT house with a broken AC. I called Hometown Heating and Cooling at 8pm and the next morning at 8:30am they were here! Not only were they professional, they did not overcharge me for a solution. My AC is still kickin' from 1989 and he didn't try and sell me a new one. He got me the right part so I could survive through this heat wave. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Great experience, had an issue with our A/C unit when "the big 3" Hampton Roads HVAC companies said they could get to me in 2-3 weeks Hometown got to me in 2-3 hours. Showed up on time and were extremely courteous and respectful. They inspected the whole unit and diagnosed the issue, and got it up and running with a plan to return to ensure there are no further issues. It's a shame that they were not my first phone call but they will be my last. And best of all they did not try to up sell me anything didn't even mention their maintenance program which is unfortunate because i intended to inquire but forgot. The other 3 companies I called..... You know the ones with the radio ad's tried selling me their maintenance contracts even before they told me they could not provide a service for weeks.

I just wish I lived in the area where Hometown Heating and Cooling services operates.
After watching David's video about how A/C repair companies are ripping off their clients, I concluded that I, too, was ripped off today! My outside a/c unit quit working yesterday and called company X (I don't want to mention its name) for service. A nice tech guy came this morning and fixed it within 45 min.
I WAS CHARGED:
- $152 for a contactor (Installed)
- $169 for a 50/7.5 Turbo200 Capacitor from Amrad Engineering (Installed)
Total charged: $321
I know I was overcharged for the parts, but I felt not too bad because the charges included the labor (installation). I am sure that if I lived near David's company, I would probably have saved 50 or more dollars.
David if everyone was like you when it came to honesty and fairness this world would be a better place. Thanks for you web site. I learned a lot from it. Good tidings. -
Excellent service. They are often very busy, since they seem to be the one honest business in Virginia Beach. I have called multiple other HVAC companies, and Hometown was pretty much the only one to give fair quote. Everyone else is banking on advertising and hoping that buyers do not research the cost of services.

If I could give 10 stars I would!! I don't even know where to begin. Dave is THE BEST. I actually found him by accident last year googling for prices on a capacitor for my a/c. When I saw his website and how honest he was with everything, I knew I had to call him. Since this was last year I can't remember if he squeezed me in the day I called or the next day, but I do remember him not only being ON TIME but being early. I have since seen him MANY times in the last year due to a freon leak, this part, that part and I KNOW he has not screwed me on charges because I've asked friends who are HVAC people that live in other parts of the country and they tell me I got charged at least HALF of what their company would charge! I know any other company would have just told me the entire unit (it's a heat pump) would need to be replaced but instead, Dave did what needed to be done and didn't try to sell me on anything more! I try to support small local businesses as much as possible and veer away from the highly advertised "we do it all " companies, which was another reason I called Dave. So, ignore the few bad reviews. Dave is the owner, he has TWO other guys that work with him (and mainly for installs…I only know this because I asked him the other day when he was here) He works quickly, works hard and gets the job done without ripping people off!! WELL WORTH waiting a day or two (or even more for that matter!) for him to come take a look at my equipment!

Our AC stopped working late Thursday night. We called Hometown Heating and Cooling based on the existing Google reviews. They answered the call despite the late hour, and came over to assess the situation first thing the next morning.
Very professional demeanor, respectful of home, and kind to pets. :) Explained what was going on with the unit, and gave several options for a solution that varied in cost and effort. It was very clear that Hometown Heating and Cooling was not trying to take advantage of us, which is SO IMPORTANT (not to mention impressive), especially when you're AC is out and it's a billion degrees outside.
The assessment fee was small, and returned in two business days to make the fix we decided on (replacing the entire unit). They were on time, quick to complete the repair, and maintained a high level of professionalism throughout the appointment.
We are completely satisfied, and will use Hometown Heating and Cooling for all our future heating and cooling needs. -
OUTSTANDING SERVICE and a FAIR PRICE! I don't find myself compelled to write many reviews; however, it was the least I could do for such remarkable service. The ac went out last night in the house we purchased two weeks earlier. I Goggled "local ac repair 23456" companies and Hometown Heating and Cooling" had the most positive reviews. I called and asked for a service call. David showed up, on time, quickly determined my issue and explained the problem in terms I could understand. He repaired it in no time at a reasonable price. He did not try to sell me extra parts or fool me with unnecessary "extra" repairs. He's honest, and reliable. What more could you ask for? I strongly recommend Hometown Heating and Cooling above all others!

Hometown heating and cooling / David is the only company I trust to do work on my HVAC . We have been using him for years. I refuse to use any other company. He truly is a genuine guy who does not rip you off and goes out of his way to do what he can to fix the problem. If could I would give him 10 stars. That's how amazing this guy is and his company.

wow! I wish every company was as professional, knowledgeable and responsive as this one. I can honestly say that this was the best service and company experience I have ever received. My new HVAC is quieter, more efficient and costs less to run. Nothing but good stuff. Definitely, definitely recommend this company

Called Hometown Heating and Air Conditioning about problems with a 20+ year old heat pump system. Contacted them first thing in the morning and they were on site very quickly. Loved the fact that they repaired the system vice trying to sell me a new system. I was not taken to the cleaners for the repair bill. Unfortunately it looks like the old system is about to give up the ghost and will have to be replaced. I was presented with a couple of options from replacing the defective condenser to replacing the whole system. Doing my homework on this to determine the best course of action for my problem. Will consider Hometown Heating and Air Conditioning in my final decision.
UPDATE: I had Hometown come out and replace my whole system. They were there on time. The system was replaced in about 4 hours. When the old system was installed, it took a major HVAC company in Norfolk several days to install. When they were finished, you could not tell that a major system was replaced within the house. The only way that one could tell that they had been in the house was the fact that nice cold air was blowing out of the vents. The old system was removed and every piece of trash was picked up and removed down to the smallest piece of fiberglass insulation. The replacement unit was nice and quite when running. Will consider Hometown for all my HVAC needs!
UPDATE 2. While Hometown did excellent work on my HVAC install in my rental property, I had no idea a week later I would be calling on their service again. This time for my home. The 20 year old system had a problem with the evaporator core and condensate drain. The connection for the condensate discharge was completely rusted through and has been for a while as the emergency drip pan under he air handler had completely rusted through so I now have some crazy artwork on my ceiling from the leak. Hometown came bright and early to complete the install. Once again another fine job by Hometown! -
It's Christmas Eve 2013, 3:30 am and my heat pump air handler fan quit. I waited until 7:00 am and called a competitor and left a message. No one returned my call. At 7:30 am, I called Hometown and spoke with the owner. David said he could be here in about an hour. He arrived in 45 minutes and quickly discovered the problem. In less than 30 minutes my system was running fine. The next time I have any problem with an HVAC unit, I'm calling Hometown Heating and Cooling. I really like the way the company treats its customers.

SAVED ME THOUSANDS! I installed a new thermostat on Sunday… WRONG! The emergency tech came out and said I needed a new system and never checked the thermostat he knew I’d replaced. Three more vendors came and all quoted a new system. David was the last vendor I was meeting with and rather than jump right to a sale, he asked to troubleshoot and check the system first!!!! Imagine that! He checked the unit outside and in the attic and then the thermostat! Literally saved me THOUSANDS of dollars! I had crossed the wires wrong on the new thermostat! He also did a couple of minor maintenance repairs while he was at it! I will never go to another company! He is honest and trust worthy to do the right thing by his clients! Go here first!!!!!

Called on a Tuesday to have the guys come out on a Thursday to check my AC, because it stopped blowing cold air. Dave arrived right on time and within minutes knew it was my fan that was bad, and everything else was good. Seeing how I have 2 young kids, he immediately took the fan back to the shop to remove it from an old school bracket correctly, replaced the motor, came back to my house and it installed it. All within two hours. He even filled a 1lb of freon at no charge and the house was cool within an hour! Price was VERY reasonable and I will absolutely be recommending you guys to friends, and maintaining/fixing/replacing my AC unit in the future! Thanks again Dave and HeatCool911!!
