Formecology has been helping me establish and maintain a native garden for over twenty years.

When we built a sunroom addition, the team at Formecology did a beautiful job designing and building a landscape that harmonized with our exisitng landscape.

We hired Formecology to do a landscape plan and install in spring/summer 2018. The owner (John Gishnock) also subcontracted out concrete work for a new driveway and walkways. John kept us informed all along the way as we navigated from less-than-perfect springtime weather to the last few details. His staff was professional and so easy to work with. Our front yard has been transformed and we couldn't be happier with the outcome!

The team did such a great job of cleaning out weeds and leaves. Some plants were dead and needed to come out. The new mulch looks great. Great team of people who really cared about the quality of their work.

We had Formecology do a water amelioration project in our side yard and I highly recommend them to anyone wanting landscaping work done. From the first meeting to the final completion, everyone was professional and courteous, very helpful, smart and competent. The design was beautiful and the work is very well done. The amount of work they accomplished in a short time (4 solid days and several truckloads of material) was impressive and left me so grateful that I hadn't tried this on my own. Worth every penny!

We have a small property in Wisconsin and met John Gishnock and the team at Formecology when our terrraced lakeside slope was collapsing into the lake. He proposed native plantings that would not only hold the slope but also delight us as they grew and bloomed over time. John and his team have fulfilled this proposal and then some. We have been clients for over 15 years. John and his team have been faithful stewards of this lovely landscape, removing invasive species and replanting as needed. Formecology now cares for our more conventional landscape areas and has helped with other hardscape projects.

John Gishnock and his team are wonderful to work with. They are competent, available for answering questions, always letting us know their schedule for our property. They have also been collaborative with other providers such as our long-term arborist and irrigation company.

We highly recommend John and Formecology for their knowledgable approach to designing, installing and caring for native plantings as well other more conventional landscape needs. We have used Formecology LLC for a variety of projects over the last decade and have always been pleased with their creative and helpful planning as well as their work to get the job done. We are talking to them now about an upcoming modification in our yard as well and will continue to work with them in the future.

Formecology did an excellent and professional work on our difficult residential project, during which they were quite responsive and easy to communicate with. Highly recommended.

John and his team did an amazing job on a landscape restoration. Not only did the the restoration bring the area back to its original condition but it exceeded the our customers expectations! He recommended that we deep till the soil and add peat to reduce compaction, add organic material, and greater water retention. They also used an organic starter fertilizer to give the grass seed the initial boost that it needed to get a good hold.

I first worked with John at Formecology last year to revive our backyard that was not thriving due to growing shade. And I wanted a low-mow lawn as well. He came out, and recommended that in addition to reseeding the area with a bee friendly lawn we clear out an adjacent area to allow more light into the area. We did this and John and his crew, all nice guys by the way, worked up the soil and reseeded with a mix of bee friendly and shade growing seed that would work for the site. John spent a lot of time consulting with seed suppliers on the right mix and this spring we can already see the cover grasses starting to come through! The whole area looks great and I can't wait to see the final result.
The experience of working with John was so good that he is currently designing a new shade area using the large rocks that we found in clearing out the woods. Again, his design looks awesome!
He is very easy to work with and is willing to adjust his design based on your ideas and budget.

Working with John and the Formecology team was a joy. Not only were they communicative and transparent through the entire process, but were just genuinely lovely people. I would recommend them for any landscaping need. We will absolutely be working with them again in the future.

Formecology has helped us tremendously with our landscaping. First, several years ago we have two steep hills that were subject to erosion. They cleared all the vegetation and the stumps and laid down a pre-planted mat with prairie grasses and flowers. It did the trick - beautiful slope with no erosion. They maintain the slope for us each year. Second we had a retaining wall that was beginning to lean. They took it down, reset the drainage behind the wall and rebuilt it. Job well done.

Formecology has been a great partner in transforming our property into something we truly enjoy. We appreciate their knowledge and patience for newer homeowners. They helped us determine what we wanted when we didn't exactly know outside of garden restorations. Formecology also gave us plenty of information to help us maintain their hard work. We're excited to continue working with them for future projects!
