Bethke is the best! Jason is kind, honest and responsive and his office staff is super courteous and professional. They are an authentically local business, which I really like too. Bethke came out and gave an honest assessment that a whole house fan wasn't a good investment; A/C would be cheaper and it was! On the day installation my model wasn't on their truck so they gave me a better model for the same cost, just so we could keep my install date. I recommend them to everyone I know.

We needed a new furnace and a new AC unit this year. Each technician we worked with from Bethke was great. All very polite, knowledgeable, and I never felt like they were trying to "upsell" me on a system that was more than we needed. This was an expensive project replacing both our furnace and AC, but the technicians helped me make the right decision for our house. I enjoyed working with the ladies in the office as well. We recommend Bethke for all HVAC work.

Very happy with this company! My heat went out on the weekend. When I called, I was advised that there was an extra fee for off hours. The technician I spoke with was extremely nice and caring. He had me trouble shoot over the phone and since nothing worked, he shared his thoughts on what might be wrong (with an approx. cost to fix it), which gave me a peace of mind (knowing it could be something else, of course). Since it wasn't extremely cold out and I had a place to stay for the weekend, I chose to wait until Monday morning.
Jeff came this morning. He was very nice! He checked the unit and determined it was exactly what his colleague thought (the ignitor needing replacement). It was a simple a fairly inexpensive fix. Less than 40 min later, my furnace was back running and the service/replacement cost very very reasonable!

We have always used Bethke for our home heating and air and been very happy with their services every time. When there was an issue with the thermostat unit they came and replaced it at no charge. Then when we needed a heating unit installed in our new Cleary building, Bethke was responsive and informative in helping us decide which option would work best for the space. We ended up going with a ductless system. Always great communication from Bethke, which we really appreciate. Thanks guys!

What an excellent experience. From contacting Brian for an estimate to the technicians installing our new air handler. I was nervous about this project because of where this air handler is located. It is in the attic with a not so easy access area. They came in, worked for a day and a half and left everything looking much better than what they found it in. Very impressive!

we have been using Bethke for heating and A/C since we moved to Madison 12 years ago after they were referred by a neighbor. everything about this company is professional and top notch, yet affordable. they have been doing our maintenance on a contract for several years now so we never have to worry about remembering to have it done. our furnace was the original (22 years) and they would recommend every year that it's almost time but would never be pushy. once we were ready to take the plunge the process was simple and they were in and out in four hours and we had a brand new furnace that hopefully will last another 22 years. whoever owns this company knows customer service and hires the best people to make sure that is a priority. I'd give them six stars if I could.

Very pleased with the service I received from Bethke on a 20+ year old furnace that was not working. The service technician, Mike, was on time and very professional. He was able to quickly diagnose the problem and had the part needed to make the repair. After making the repair, he confirmed everything was working properly before leaving. Bethke is my go-to for any HVAC needs.

We have used Bethke for multiple projects and maintenance over the years and their customer service is excellent. They care and honestly there is a lack of that in the HVAC space. That to us speaks volumes.

TLDR: Great prices, super knowledgeable, clean, professional, and excellent communication with real local people. We got quotes from multiple servicers for our HVAC install and the others did not impress when compared to Bethke (both on price and on overall experience).

The long story:
We just installed an entirely new HVAC system with Bethke, and are very very happy! From the initial walk around and quote, to the HVAC install itself, Bethke has been excellent at communicating our options, offering educated suggestions and performing the work on time with a high degree of professionalism. They left the work area spotless, and had our new system up and running in less than 8 hours.

We did have a minor hiccup with the installation, where the AC installer forgot to update some furnace settings from their factory settings, so our cooling was underperforming (we noticed the temperature creeping up the day after install). That being said, we notified Bethke's after hours line, mentioned that it was not an emergency, and they had a tech over to our house by 8 am the next day. The tech's have always been incredibly knowledgeable, and we want to give a big thanks to our local serviceman Mike, who was able our HVAC system configured in under an hour.

We have used them in the past for emergency servicing on our old furnace in the dead of winter, and on our old AC in the height of summer, and they are always super responsive and get us up and running within a day or two.

Now we're cool and crisp, even in a heat index of 110, and couldn't ask for more! Bethke is definitely our first and only stop for our HVAC system!

We have been Bethke customers for 18 years. The technicians provide courteous, professional, knowledgeable service and have told us that the company treats them well, which speaks a lot for Bethke's management style. Recently we needed to replace our a/c. We received a quote and the technicians were out the next morning to do the install which was a pleasant surprise since we'd been told it might be a six-week wait. Maybe we just got lucky but I'd like to think that Bethke looks after loyal customers! We recommend the Energy Savings Agreement which covers annual check-ups of the a/c and heating units to ensure they are functioning properly and safely. Thanks, Bethke!

Jason and the Bethke team were fantastic! Our furnace broke down at the beginning of winter. Jason's team helped repair it in the short term to keep us comfortable until they could do the replacement several weeks later. The technicians who installed the furnace were super helpful and answered all our questions. Highly recommend!

Boy! Did I feel stupid! I called this morning because I couldn’t get my heat to turn on. I thought it was the result of a new AC installation a few months ago. Cain came by on a Saturday no less to figure out the problem and instantly saw that I had inadvertently set the thermostat too high and therefore the furnace would not turn on. He didn’t charge me for the after hours service call although he should’ve billed me under the Airhead category. He was the sweetest guy ever and so understanding. This is one more reason why I love Bethke Heating and Cooling!

They responded quickly to my inquiry. We set up an appointment for a bathroom and attic ventilation issue inspection.
It was a reasonable price for the inspection, which helped diagnose the problem.

Jason C. and Mike were on time for the work and did a quick and thorough job. Helped solve the bathroom ventilation issue. Jason C. also gave advice on how to increase ventilation in the bathroom and also the whole house.

We would use them again. They did a professional job and were much less than one of the local big HVAC companies.

TL;DR // Bethke is my first and only call when it comes to my furnace.

Full Review // Around 5:30p this evening I noticed the temperature in my home dropping. After attempting to troubleshoot on my own, I called Bethke. Nate, the tech on call after hours, arrived promptly to help by around 7:15p (after an hour drive, since I’m on the other side of town). He was kind, patient with my questions as a newer home owner, and quickly found the issue as well as the necessary part. My heat was back on by around 8/8:30p and he was off to his next call. It’s cold tonight, around -5 degrees right now…. to say I’m incredibly grateful for Nate and Bethke would be an understatement.

I just wanted to give a shoutout to the BETHKE employee Matt (I think Matt D.?) who spent a long time retrofitting my HVAC to fit a new compressor after the manufacturing company (in Canada) gave us the wrong size compressor as a replacement and all seemed lost as they would not procure the correct one. He really saved my bacon during this hot and humid summer.

Super reasonable with the fees, friendly and helpful. They explained everything and got the job done quick.

We have an older house with no duct work so part of the air conditioning system is in the attic. The access to the attic is very small. Bethke's spent almost two days in the attic installing that part. Dan, Greg, and Joe did a fantastic job and at all times were super friendly and professional. The unit works wonderfully. I would also like to thank Brian who did the estimate. Due to some unforseen circumstances, they had to put in a more expensive unit but still honored the original quote. I would recommend Bethke to any one needing service or replacement for their HVAC system. I wish all businesses were more like them!

Best experience ever. From a quick chat over the weekend with an emergency tech, from a responsive reply to an email, with an informative scheduling person before hours on the weekday, to getting called back for the actual appointment, to their team, arriving on the dot same day. They fixed the problem right away and did not try to upsell me anything. They got my high score simply because they were honest. Proficient an expedient. Add in a touch of kindness. I will definitely call him again.

Bethke installed a new air conditioner and did a furnace repair for us in May 2024. Scheduling was easy and prompt, all visits were on time and professional. The crew took pride in the jobs, making certain everything was completed correctly, testing the function of the components, and cleaning up the site before leaving. They explained everything well, and the final charges were consistent with the estimates.

Another five star review for Bethke! Called at 8:30 AM on a Monday, tech was out and AC fixed by 10:30. There are currently three Bethke trucks on my block!
