I stopped in today to purchase some seeds. Overall, a great nursery. However, the seed room is humid to the point of being near unbearable. There was AC blowing, but it truly didn't feel like it did anything. I was in there only a short while and it was suffocating, I can't imagine how the employees tolerate it. I honestly feel bad for them. Hopefully this is something management or the owners fix. And soon.

Great place! I have to be careful here! I lose track of time because it is the kind of place you want to stick around for a while and it just feels good to be there. The people are helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Tyler is my absolute favorite sales associate. So super smart and polite and helpful! Love this store!

**** Edit Update **** Excellent nursery and my go to place for plants, fertilizer, and seeds. Only giving an average rating because I am unable to shop for seeds online. I find it quite odd. The Glendale store has a great selection of seeds unfortunately I cannot find them online. Maybe it's me or maybe not. I just want to see if what I would like to purchase is available before driving close to 50 miles and find out the seed is not available. Otherwise still an awesome nursery!
**** Edit Update: Last week I received a newsletter from Summer Winds and guess what? Yep there it was a link to seeds. I have to change my rating to 5 stars because now Summer Winds Nursery has listened and I now I have to drive the 50 miles to go purchase live plants. I'm thinking a Vitex/Chaste tree would be a perfect small tree for my garden. Bottom line

SUMMER WINDS IS THE BEST NURSERY I HAVE FOUND

Nice nursery, great workers, but at the end of the day I ended up with the wrong tree.

At the beginning of the day, we picked up a pistache tree. When we brought it to the planting location, we realized it was not the red push variety we wanted. After calling the store, we went back and swapped it out for a red push pistache tree that the worker grabbed from the back for us. After planting the tree, we looked at the pot and realized the worker got us the exact same incorrect pistashe tree we had before. At the end of the day, we should have verified the label before buying the tree the second time. But we trusted the worker grabbed the right one and didn't realize the mistake that was made until after it was planted. Disappointed that I can't trust the workers at this nursery, but I guess that's why they say trust but verify.

I've never had any issues like this at the Summer winds nursery in Mesa. Highly recommend that location!

It's such a nice nursery! Ryan is extremely knowledgeable, and took time to help us understand what would/wouldn't work in our gardens which was greatly appreciated since we're from the Pacific North West and were still learning about the desert climate and how to grow vegetation in Arizona. Another thing I appreciate about this nursery, is that they carry a wide variety of unique plants and cactus. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful in locating things we're looking for, even when we don't know what they're called. They have a great return policy if something goes wrong. We had one plant that didn't survive, and they replaced it with no issues at all. It's nice that they stand behind their product in case something doesn't survive. I'll definitely be a returning customer whenever I'm in need of something new for the garden.

Excellent selection of annuals and perennials, beautiful pottery, herbs, vegetables, wind chimes, etc. The shrubs are very expensive, IMO, and I wish they were available in gallon pots instead of 5- or 10-gallon sizes that are high dollar and hard to transplant. Great place to shop for gifts. I've been their frequent customer since the early 80s when they were called Tip Top Nursery.

This is one of my favorite places to shop and spend time at on the weekend. The employees and customer service is top notch. Vanessa, Jake, Ginger- just to name a few are always so helpful to me when I come in looking for my next plant. If you are looking for gorgeous plants with top notch service, please choose to spend your money here. You will not be disappointed.

Ginger was an incredible help while we were looking for full-sun plants for our outdoor space. She gave us ideas, walked us up to all of her favorites and sold us on an amazing collection of plants. While she was talking to us, another couple came up and got into the same ideas. She is so friendly, informative and patient.

Recently purchased a Ash Tree and it was infested with Aphids. So went back to let them know. And he said my trees don't have Aphids. So proceeded back to where the Ash Trees were and found Aphids on all of there Bonita Ash Trees and showed them they did have Aphids! The worker there said in a smart ass answer those are not my trees. I was talking about my Trees at home he said did not have Aphids. What kind of employee talks like that? And he said I will not help you with your Aphids. Very rude. This was the only plant we had in our back yard. Not sure if he was the manager and did not get his name. We will not be returning!

This is my go to place for anything garden related. The EB Stone 420 Potting Soil is the best we have found, and they have an amazing selection of vegetables, fruit trees and flowers.

I purchased approximately $150 in plants & this is just a recent purchase. I planned to go back to purchase a $500 fountain but no way now. The vine I purchased died & without thinking I threw it away. I stopped to the store anyway because on the receipt it does say bring the plant in OR your receipt. Well no go so I think with as much as I have purchased with them over the last 8 years they could give me a break. Their loss in the long run.
    UPDATE 1/31/25
This last Wednesday I took my receipt & went back to Summer Winds as directed in their response. All I can say is if I had an employee like Daryl she’d be fired in a heartbeat. She wouldn’t listen to me when I was trying to explain to her that I was directed to come back in. She treated me like a liar & was beyond rude. She said let me see your phone, that’s where I had the reply. Once she read it, she still said we don’t do this but then called for a manager. Scott was very polite & helped me. He gave me a receipt. We were out in the parking lot & the other cashier ran out saying lady you didn’t sign & here's your receipt, I said I have one & she basically called me a liar saying no here it is. I worked in customer service over half of my career and would never ever treat a customer the way I was treated here.

So, this place is beautiful and the staff is very knowledgeable. I am leaving a review, because after being told that if your plants die, you can return them back for a refund. I brought back the plants that died. Miss Vanessa was very rude. Telling me she couldn't find the plants that I purchased with a very UGLY tone as if I was lying about my purchase. So I addressed her with the same tone, letting her know that's the only time I've ever bought plants in my life. The issue was resolved by a very kind man, but I did leave feeling pretty offended.

Such a nice Nursery, always a large varieties of plants, pots, and soil/fertilizer. We've bought several plants from here and they are so pretty.

I was shopping around for blood orange citrus tree 15 gallon. I called Moonvalley nursery for a price they said $299.not that I would have purchased it from them just to get an idea from different places how much it cost. moonValley Will con you,.4 of the 11 trees I bought back in 2014 from them they planted them for me too 4 of them didn’t either mature or survive after one year warranty expired. I was out of luck.

I do not recommend Moonvalley nursery they cannot be trusted. So I called Summerwinds nursery and Tyler answered the phone. He was very courteous very knowledgeable. He told me price of 15 gallon was $148. Which was half of Moonvalley nursery price.

& the best part (wait for it) they guarantee the trees for life.yes it’s not a typo for life. You can call 10 other nurseries non will give you life time guarantee, It gets better Tyler told me Wednesdays is 15% off if you are over 60 years old. So I took advantage of the 15% off. Staff at this nursery are Super friendly, super nice & very helpful.

Too bad I didn’t make my purchase in 2014 from this nursery. They would have backed up tge 4 trees that died from Moonvalley nursery. Don’t ever shop at moon valley nursery they are rip off they cannot be trusted. Plus Summerwinds gives you 15% off why would you want to shop anywhere else?

Tyler and Ryan and the rest of the staff thank you for the excellent customer service. You will be seeing me on Wednesdays for my future purchases.
    P.S.
The photo you see is my landscaper removing plum tree the last of the 4 trees from MoonValley nursery because it’s not harvesting plums.I lost $450 for 4 trees I purchased from Moon Valley.

Zach was amazing and helped us pick the right plants for our image and design. He was respectful for our budget. Zach also was so informative and really helped educate us on the plants we wanted to purchase.

The local nursery even covers theirs plants for free and there was no pressure, just lots of friendly smiles. We may live a distance, but we will certainly come back to Summer Winds Nursery.

    Thank you!

A little more cost than the Big Box stores but, you get what you pay for. Their associates are friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to spend the time needed to make sure all your questions are answered honestly. We live on the west side but will always make the trip to Summer Winds when we want quality products.

So I live in Camp Verde Az and have found that roses bought at a nursery in phoenix are the way to go. Yes I make the hour drive because there is no point planting roses if they are not going to live. Every year I go to a different nursery. The plants are well taken care of- but a little pricey. That is not why I gave them 2 stars- customer service is why they got 2 stars. There was an older lady that got in line before me, the cashier said the line was closed so we all go to the second line. Then he realized the line is too long and starts taking customers after all. Basically customers were checked out that were there after she was. I let her go in front of us and decided that I would never come back. Inconsiderate and rude, It is the first and last time I spend over $200 there.
