The first time we had work done by Matador construction was after a fire in our newly remodeled kitchen. They got our kitchen back to pre-fire condition. Concerns were dealt with quickly and politely.

We were so impressed with Matador's work that when it came time to remodel one of our rental houses, we asked them to do it. Once again, we had a good experience with them which included open communication throughout the project, and our house will rent for much more now that it has been remodeled. They took my budget into account and did quality work.

Matador completely transformed my home with a custom white oak kitchen that went far beyond what I ever imagined. The craftsmanship, attention to detail, and professionalism from start to finish were outstanding. On top of the kitchen, they also did the beautiful tile flooring throughout the house, and it ties everything together perfectly.

Ruben was incredibly experienced and brought so many great ideas to the table. He educated us on different materials, styles, and even faucets that not only elevated the design but also saved us a ton of money by going smarter routes without compromising quality. Because of his guidance, the results are stunning and everyone who has walked into the house has given us compliments.

Every step of the process was smooth, the end result is both beautiful and highly functional, and I couldn’t be happier. I would highly recommend Matador Construction to anyone looking for top quality work and a team you can fully trust with your vision.

Even though it wasn't a large repair, Jonathan was very pleasant to work with, did a very good job. I appreciate good customer service and that's what I got. I'll be checking with Matador Construction for other projects on my to do list.

After dealing with a flaky company that wasted my time, Matador Construction LLC was a breath of fresh air. They got me scheduled right away and were incredibly responsive and professional from the start. The project involved repairing water damage in my restroom, and not only did they do an amazing job, but they completed it quickly and efficiently. They truly went above and beyond—providing a fresh coat of paint that transformed the space and made it look even better than before. If you want quality work done right the first time, Matador Construction LLC is the way to go!

Matador assisted me with a project at my rental property. Their team was efficient, punctual and completed the job quickly. Communication was clear and Ruben was always on top of everything. I truly appreciate their professionalism and would highly recommend their services!

The work that Matador did was great. All of their employees do great work and take care of business.

However, Ruben's attitude and communication skills are sorely lacking. We had our hardwood floors replaced along with a few walls and a cabinet from a flood. Since we had to move everything out of our house to have the flooring done, I asked Ruben if we could leave the elevated things in closets and pantries since they were off the floor. He assured me that everything would be covered with plastic during the demo. NONE OF IT WAS DONE. Not a single closet or pantry had any plastic during the demo. I had to spend HOURS of my own time dusting everything off. When I complained about it, his fix was to add plastic to only the pantry AFTER the demo was completed.

Then when it came time to settle up the bill, they were very aggressive. They tried charging me for things that were not in the contract, saying that if the insurance company wasn't paying, than I had to. Our contract specifically stated that any additional charges must be approved by us before any work was to be done. They went ahead an completed $2000 worth of additional work without our approval (which was only a phone call away).

Ruben also had no problem cussing me out on the phone when I put up resistance to their out of contract work. They didn't even complete all the work they said they would because of the shouting match we had. Totally unprofessional on every level!

If you decide to go with them, make sure you keep really good tabs on Ruben, or else he will do whatever he wants without keeping you in the loop at all. One of the reasons I went with them in because of their good Google reviews, complimenting his communication. Don't be fooled. The only reason he's even getting 2 stars is because of his workers.

Our nightmare with Matador Construction lasted 2.5 months for a travertine floor installation in our living room that was supposed to take just 4 days.

On the first day, they didn’t even show up (they said they forgot), and on later days, they arrived after 10am despite agreeing to start at 8am. What was supposed to be a 4-day project took two weeks just to complete the basic installation. We were still willing to be patient, hoping for a good outcome. On the last day, however, we were shocked to see the result: all the stone tiles were heavily stained with grout (see photos) and poorly sealed, with visible wipe marks and excess sealant everywhere (see photos). Four separate stone companies later confirmed these issues when we consulted them about repairs.

Initially, we politely asked Matador Construction to fix these problems, but they denied any errors, claiming we didn’t understand how natural stone works and insisting the large black stains were “natural.” They even threatened us with legal action and a lien on our property to collect the remaining payment (we have saved the messages).

When we disputed the payment and told them we would report them to the Arizona ROC and take the matter to court, they sent the same inexperienced worker who caused the damage to “clean” the stains. The result was even worse: excessive scrubbing that permanently damaged the tiles.

After weeks of delays and inaction, leaving us unable to bring back our furniture for 2.5 months, we finally reported them to the Arizona ROC. The ROC officer inspected the floor, said it “looks awful,” and issued an order for them to replace the stained and damaged tiles.

Ruben and Vicente misrepresented their expertise with travertine. The worker they brought had no basic knowledge of working with natural stone (e.g., that grout can stain it). After he had already caused significant damage, we asked to see samples of his previous travertine work, but he was unable to provide any.

Vicente’s communication was consistently poor. Several times, we took time off work and stayed home because they said they would come to fix something, only to be told hours later that the worker had canceled, wasting our entire day.

Many of the positive comments you see here do not reflect our experience. In our case, they failed to deliver even a basic level of professionalism or craftsmanship. We strongly recommend looking elsewhere unless you want months of frustration and substandard work.
