$4,000 worth of French drains that do not work

Francisco and Superior Lawn and Landscape performed over $35k worth of work in my backyard, and as a licensed Landscape Architect with 42 years of experience I can attest to the fact he did great work. They installed a custom stone patio with excellent craftsmanship, a dry creek bed complete with a massive bubbler stone along with planting beds and stone walls. All work met my expectations and Francisco was easy to work with and concerned with quality.

So, I was excited to have him on the team to install the front yard after a construction renovation project. The first phase was to install some French drains and install planter's mix soil along the house.

Francisco and his crew performed the work on this initial phase on April 26th. Instead of installing planters mix next to the house as instructed, he installed some heavy, gumbo, clay soil. With the first rain it was evident we had a massive problem. I reached out to Francisco for his help to solve this as well as plan the next phase which would including planting and boulders. He said he would help, but then proceeded to dance with his schedule or his machine was at another job or some other excuse. During this time, we were having substantial spring rains threatening to flood my new addition as well as my new garage. We finally agreed to start the work on 5/10. He did not show. On 5/12 we exchanged texts to start with a full crew and hydraulic machines on 5/16. He did not show. I called and texted for the next 5 days until 5/21 with ZERO response. So almost 1 month of "dancing" with his schedule.

Francisco elected to ghost my calls and texts for the next week. NO RESPONSES AT ALL after we agreed to start work on Monday 5/16. However, I did see him working about 1 mile from my house at a neighbor's jobsite. I elected not to confront him, so I know he was not sick or in the hospital or out of the country.

Looking over my receipts I have spent $40k with him which includes the poor soil and front yard drains. I am absolutely baffled why anyone decides to go dark and not return calls! We never had a cross word, I paid him promptly, I just don't understand. In addition to the ghosting, I had to pay $2,500 to remove the gumbo soil and grade the site so that it would drain.

I received UNSUPERIOR work from Superior Lawn and Landscape and very poor to nonexistent communication. This is no way to treat any customer, let alone a repeat customer.

I make it a point to tell everyone I know in the landscape industry, or anyone looking for landscape work that they will be making a BIG mistake in hiring Francisco and Superior Lawn and Landscape. Zero Stars.

Francisco and his team did a great job installing flagstone landscaping steps and lighting on our steep lot. Francisco was professional, fair, and responded well with us and our Visio. We highly recommend Superior Landscaping.
