BAD PRODUCT, INSTALLATION AND SERVICE- Long story
UPDATE: It has been a month and I have heard nothing from AIRCO. I really did not expect to. This merely confirms to me AIRCO is more interested in spending lots of money on advertising for new customers rather than standing behind their products. I just hope prospective buyers read my post and other one star postsBought Daikin Heating/AC system (Japanese) on 3/9/22. Turned on AC on 4/25/22. Did not work. No cool air or air flow. Airco spent next 2 months trying to figure out problem and couldn't. They had no clue. Angry telephone conversation with Gen. Mgr. and I demanded removal and refund. They refused. Sales rep got compressor working on 6/5/22 but no air flow. Special Daikin tech from Texas came up on 6/22 and said to put in new vents for improved air flow. Airco wanted $3-4K more. I refused. I wanted refund. They refused. Had been 8 weeks without sufficient AC especially in 1/3 of house. I found partial solution on internet by replacing pleated filters with thin fiberglass filters. We got air flow except to area where tech suggested new air vents. Airco agreed to install vents but they did not work well. I was stuck with poor AC in 1/3 of home. Compensated with ceiling fan use, drapes, closing off rooms and removing vent covers. I WAS NOT HAPPY BUT HAD NO ALTERNATIVE.
In June of 2023 water overflowed through emergency AC drain. Airco tech said attic drainpipes not properly installed, exhaust vent not properly connected, wires not properly secured and attic trashed from installation. In Sept of 2023 outdoor condenser unit clogged with dirt. Daikin inverted system runs constantly with lower air speed and less compressor strength. This causes outdoor unit to clog quickly. I must hose it off every month or get high elec. bills or burnt out motor.
In Oct. of 2024 the service tech for the routine fall heating check left with me not realizing thermostat read ERROR- CONTACT DEALER. I angrily called for another tech and he found defective switch.
In June of 2025 AC unit would not go off for the umpteenth time When I turned up thermostat first thing in morning it kept running with frigid air and froze us out for about 20 minutes. Airco has pretty much ignored my complaints about this. We also never have been able to cool 1/3 of my house consistently especially this year. Unit is erratic and air flow is weak at times.
On July 1 of 2025 I emailed Airco-North America and found out my unit's model and serial number had been discontinued allegedly due to EPA/coolant issues and SEER ratings. I was supposed to get 17 SEER but unit showed 14. What else could be wrong with it???
Airco managers do not respond to my emails so I guess I am stuck with an underperforming AC unit and Airco. Some AC dealers will not deal with inverted systems. I am sure Airco has just written me off as an angry old man who complains a lot. I have no problems giving them a piece of my mind. I just wonder what will happen next??? -
