Reviews of local pros in Cazadero, California

Mike is a great communicator and very easy to work with.

We found Lush Planet to excel in design and engineering and then follow through with quality work by a responsible team at a reasonable cost. We recommend Lush Planet highly….honest people and timely completion.

Pros:
Professional, great communication, sustainable building practices. Would recommend.

Cons:
Sometimes hard to get a hold of, start dates where far out b/c he is busy (which is a good thing if you think about it).

Mike Stokes of Lush Planet Design Build (LPDB) did an incredible job on a very challenging project. Our cabin is located on a steep hillside in Monte Rio and has a lot of stairs. Our lower set stairs had rotted out and this was the steepest section of steps. We contacted quit a few contractors looking for a competitive bid. Many never even returned our calls or e-mails.

The environmental impact of the project was very important to us. We wanted to insure that the materials and practices used would be as green as possible. Many a contractor did not want to hear our ideas or listen to how we wanted to approach the project. Mike communicated with us from the get go and listened.

Another great thing about Mike was that he did a great job of managing our expectations. Many a contractor will promise the world (eg completion dates, costs, etc). LPDB bid was not the cheapest but it was not the most by far. He also realized looking at the project that the pitch of the stairs was going to be challenging and gave us a realistic completion date and kept us updated during the project.

In the end we had a beautiful set of stairs in which he was able to use reclaimed wood from the old set of stairs and sustainable harvested wood for the rest. Completed on time and on budget. We had him lined up to do some more projects but circumstances changed and we are selling the cabin.

If you want your project done the way you want with sustainable practices, done on time and on budget look no further. He does tend to be busy especially during the spring and summer. It can be hard to get a hold of him to start and the start time for projects can be farther out that you hope for during the busy season.

My family has had a bakery and B&B for over 20 years. Michael, of Lush Planet Designs has helped up through countless upgrades and emergency situations.

Moreover, when we have been in a bind, he is always responsive and has never failed to save the day.

It is challenging running a business while raising three children. It is truly a gift to have someone as knowledgeable, professional and dependable as Michael to count on. I recommend him completely!

We were lucky to get Michael. It's very hard to find someone as skilled, reliable and honest in the construction industry. He approaches each project thoughtfully and builds not just for an easy fix, but to last a lifetime. Down to the finest details like the stainless steel screws he used for re-building a deck, he's dedicated to doing it right the first time. That and his wealth of knowledge in a variety of fields makes him a very valuable member of our West Sonoma County community.

Mike did an outstanding job repairing my home office. He did the work efficiently, properly, and at an exceedingly competitive rate. He’s honest, skilled, and fair; what more could you ask for?

Hell, I just needed an electrician to get my new EV charger working. I had screwed up something when I tried to install it myself. Mike arrived when he said he would, fixed it, and said he would charge less than the price we had agreed on because it was a quick job. Hell no, I said. His price was already low.
Since he was standing under my garage door that hadn't closed properly for a while, I asked him if he could fix that. He had to order a new part, but he fixed it.
My old refrigerator had 12 things wrong with it. I hesitated to ask an electrician to try to fix it because I probably needed a magician, but he was on a roll, so I asked. It took him a while, but he fixed it.
Hell yes, I recommend him. Competent, quick, fair. Nice guy too.

Mike & Lush Planet built us a fantastic guest house that perfectly reflected our style & structural vision and exceeded our expectations in virtually every way. Mike listened to us & understood our desire to create an aesthetically pleasing, environmentally responsible, low maintenance & incredibly inviting space for family & friends. He solved problems creatively and thoughtfully and explained our options thoroughly and clearly throughout the process. Mike & Lush Planet made the project easy, rewarding & ultimately, amazing.

Mike has done great work for us. From simple change outs of dimmer switches to ceiling fans. Always professional and respectful and knows his stuff. We have more electrical work and some other projects that we can’t wait to get started with him. I highly recommend Mike!

We were incredibly lucky to find Mike Stokes with Lush Planet Design Build when we bought an old fixer cabin on the Russian River. His online reviews looked promising, and after Mike visited us at the original 1906 cabin, he decided to take on the job of bringing the cabin to life. It was an absolute pleasure working with Mike and his crew over the course of almost 1 year. Mike handled all building and electric, and together we worked well designing the upgrades to keep the character and charm, creating a gorgeous riverfront getaway. We were impressed with his professionalism, dedication, sustainability practice, and overall fun and creative attitude to work with in what could have been a stressful time. We hope to work with Mike and Lush Planet again sometime.
