Poor customer service. Had a whole hvac system installed in October and was told that the system had a 10 year warranty. We have called 4 times in the last 3 months and have not received any response. Be warned, if they can't back up warranties with proper written warranty, how to you know it's valid...

Beware, they are not resposive to resolving problems. New HVAC system and 3 technicians can't fix the grinding and rattling since installed 9 months ago. Unable to sleep with the unit on. Sometimes you get a lemon and it needs to be replaced. Beware of doing business with a company that cannot troubleshoot issues and does not have reliable technicians. Each technician had a different take on the issue and none of them fixed it. Caution when choosing this HVAC contractor.

We used Shaef about 4 years ago to install mini splits in our house. Their prices were unbeatable and their service was fantastic. I have recommended them to anyone who had asked and about 5 of my neighbors have used them now as well.

Schaef isn't the cheapest HVAC provider out there, but sometimes, you get what you pay for, and this is one of those times. I live in Laguna Woods Village, and Schaef knows their way around the rather Byzantine rules and regulations of both our HOA and our municipality. Our system was professionally installed--on time and with minimal interruption. Equipment was top-quality, and we're very happy with the installation.

Today Gary came out and did the annual maintenance on my heating and a/c unit. He took pictures of everything and showed me my blower fan was dirty. He quickly cleaned it to look like new! 5 stars for him!

My air conditioning stopped working in the height of the heat of the summer. Wes came out promptly, worked his magic and fixed it and now I am enjoying my 74° house… I’m actually liking it better at 77. Odd.. They did a great job as always. It’s a wonderful company.

Well, I am completely floored! What a great experience. We wanted to install mini-splits in our three upstairs bedrooms and got three estimates. We were very impressed with the owners and the office staff. We had additional questions about the installation following the estimate, and they were more than willing to come a second time to discuss details. When the installers arrived, they came with brand new drop cloths because they knew we have white carpet. Impressive! There were initially four installers and they were extremely courteous, efficient and careful with our home. Midway through the installation, two supervisors came by to assist. When they were finished, our home was as clean as when they arrived!! We got a complete tutorial on how to maintain the units and how to work the remotes. We couldn't have asked for a better experience! Thanks for a job very well done, guys!! We are thrilled with the service we received!

Extremely satisfied with the service we have received from this company. A representative was sent to our home ASAP due to our circumstances with the unit malfunctioning. David was able to quickly evaluate our home and with the help off Ann to give us a quick estimate and date for installation. Even though our AC unit was not ready for the day we selected, Ann made accommodations to get us a unit on the date we agreed on. Ann was very attentive and quick to respond to any questions or needs I had.
Besides the quick responses, the men who arrived to our home to install everything did a phenomenal job. My wife and I were both home during installation. We were very impressed with the professionalism, how each person had a designated task, their communication with each other, how quickly and efficient they were at getting things done.

I am a highly satisfied customer, with both the Mitsubishi Mini Split ductless unit and the company. The installers reported as scheduled and diligently worked to complete the new installation in a timely manner. They initially said "2 days for completion." They finished in a day and a half. Their price was UNDER the quotes I received from the other two companies. The two installers, Richard and Jack, were courteous and professional. They cleaned up after their work. They patiently answered my many questions about the system and ensured that I knew how the remote units worked before leaving. My historic home, that did not have a heater for the past 21 years, is now efficiently heating and cooling, based on my selection. I am thrilled. After all those frosty mornings when I needed to wear a jacket inside, now it's not necessary.

Schaef Air has provided me with consistently excellent service since they installed my HVAC system 6 years ago. Their work is impeccable, their team is efficient, congenial, and helpful. They deserve every star of this 5-star rating and more!

We have been using Schaef air for many years of repairs, installs and semi annual maintenance. Recently we had them install a 3 head ductless heat pump system. The staffs professionalism and quality of work was and always has been top notch. I would highly recommend Schaef air for any of your HVAC needs.

I highly recommend Schaef Air for anyone looking into mini-split / heat pump installation. We had Schaef Air install mini split units in our 4 bedrooms & they did a ducted heat pump in our living space. We have never been this comfortable in our home on a hot day! Everyone at Schaef was great to work with. They are super polite, patient, and friendly.

Still waiting after a month for them to come and finish repairing the hole in my hall ceiling! I've called several times and no call back. I should have NEVER paid in full when I was told they would be back to finish up!

Schaef Air was a life savor for our family. We had HVAC issues in our upstairs system. They scheduled an appointment very quickly and came out in a very timely manner. The technicians came out and were extremely professional and knowledgeable. A few months after they came out we had them come out a second time and again, they were awesome. I will be recommending them to anyone!

Schaef Heating and Air is a great company, and my husband and I are extremely pleased with their excellent quality of work and service. We needed a dual HVAC system (gas and electric) in our newly constructed home in Big Bear Lake and had experienced difficulty from some other vendors due to the nature of the unique installation. After reading multiple positive reviews about Schaef Air, I called and explained our requirements. David, the owner, visited our property to assess everything and said he would call us that evening. He did call that same evening and explained the required equipment, ducting, and setup that would be needed, and he promptly followed up with an email proposal. David was very professional, knowledgeable and thorough, and answered all of our questions. Five days later, a team of installers started the ducting and heating portion of the job, and David arrived later to check in and to answer any additional questions. We were impressed with David and his installers. Fast forward to another day for the second part of the installation of the a/c condensers, when Jordan, Jimmy and Javier arrived. They were all courteous and took pride in their workmanship, and they cleaned up after themselves. Jordan, the lead technician, was especially helpful, as he explained the equipment installation and offered some tips on the Nest thermostats and taking care of the systems. I also want to mention the office staff that I worked with - Ann, Daniela, and Christina were all professional, nice, and helpful and always followed up when they said they would. Schaef Air is a solid company and I highly recommend them.

We had SchaefAir come out last year and install a new downstairs HVAC unit. This was after the original 20 year old unit had stopped working and was way too expensive to fix with the old freon and other issues. This new unit is far superior to the original in terms of how fast it cools the downstairs, the noise level during operation, and the new technology it came with. The recent local high temps have really tested this new HVAC unit. As part of the installation, I had the SchaefAir check the original ductwork for both the downstairs and upstairs HVAC units. With the changes they recommended and made, not only does the downstairs work great (great air flow) but the upstairs unit does now as well. The upstairs HVAC unit was a replaced a few years back by another contractor who seemed to have overlooked the issues with the ductwork. Anyway, SchaefAir did a great job and they are now my go to company for HVAC!!!

After my post, Schaef Air had a technician sent to my house to clean the fingerprints and made sure I was made "whole". This says a lot about the kind of company they are. I hired them to install a heat pump which I love and now with the solar panels--I rarely have an electric bill--plus I get money back at the end of the year. Thanks to both Schaef and the solar company! I highly recommend them!
