I wasn’t going to leave a review, because it wasn’t my best experience. Reviews shouldn’t only be for the BEST experiences, but the experience, whether the best, good, bad, indifferent or neutral.
A few weeks ago, Mr. Calhoun was referred to me for a leak detection service. While he was very communicative in his arrival time (he was prompt & arrived on time) and services he was performing, and after removing the tub handle, using his camera, no leak or moisture was discovered. It appears that the leak may have been due to the tub spout being extended from the wall which exposed an opening. So, Mr. Calhoun did not have to open the dry wall downstairs, but informed me that it would be an additional $75 plus the parts costs to fix the tub spout, as it was extra from the invoiced amount of $250, but I declined that service. My issue is that the $250 invoice I received included removal of drywall in the downstairs ceiling to perform the leak inspection and since that service wasn’t done, I didn’t expect that the cost would still be $250. When I questioned Mr. Calhoun, his response was, $250 is his flat fee, which wasn’t stated on the invoice. Nevertheless, with hesitation, I still paid it. Afterwards, I decided to go to his website, which I should have done at first. I found that he had a promotion for a “free estimate”, and when brought this to Mr. Calhoun’s attention and expressed my concern of the misleading invoice, he dismissed my concerns, but responded that he saved me money by not having to cut out the drywall, and that he charges $300 just to use his camera, so he “saved me money from that too”. He didn’t even address his promotion, but yet stated that he’d rather I didn’t leave a review. 🤦🏾‍♀️ It’s disappointing that he didn’t even honor his “free estimate” promotion and still charged $250 for the invoiced services he didn’t even do, and then disclosed after the fact that his rate is a flat fee of $250. If I had know that, I would have gotten additional quotes, as I know I would not have paid $250 just for someone to remove the tub handle to check for a leak. This is definitely a lesson learned for me.
This review isn’t to bash Mr. Calhoun, but to give review of MY experience!
