Decent selection of plants and seeds, helpful staff, good location

Found what I wanted. Asked for help and received the answer I liked. I appreciated that the worker was honest about not knowing the names, but described the plant.

It's got a good selection of plants. The staff don't really know much about them. Sometimes the plants have bugs

Got good help in the garden area , but when I had to put my items in the car that was to heavy for me to lift, I had to look for someone to help me. Three workers act like they didn't hear me when I asked for help . Finally one worker helped me

The service is really poor no one knows Ware things are that you ask for, it took a young black lady from the garden Dept to show me wut I needed in plumbing dept. And your Richmond store is supper messy and forget my next thaw t y'all don't really care y'all ain't gone change anyways, I'll do my best to never come back.

I tend to go here for small errands since it is further than the local OSH with worse selection for gardening. However, sometimes you need something that only Home Depot or Amazon stocks. The employees are generally unhelpful. I've had one or two actually walk me to the right aisle, but for the most part they just flail in the general direction and leave me to guess at their horribly organized shelves. In general, the store is laid out badly. You would expect saw blades to be placed next to the saws they go with, not 2 aisles down. You would expect gardening tools to all end up on the same aisle, not spread across 3 or 4. This store is a lesson in bad planning.
With that aside, I've had trouble with this store and their posted hours. It seems like a small thing, but posted hours are a promise to allow you to shop within those hours. If I get in my car and drive to your store, only to have you lock the doors in my face a few minutes before close, I am going to be necessarily disappointed. If you want to close at 7:55, post that as your hours. Misleading customers is downright bad service. -
I bought some plants that were in fairy good condition. The facility is clean and well maintained. The staff is hard to find at times, but otherwise they are very helpful.

90% of the plants are dead. You will get absolutely 💯 no help from anyone wearing a Home Depot name tag or orange smock because none of the employees work in any of the departments, so it'll take a while for them to find you someone who does work in the store.
I give this El Cerrito / Richmond location ☆☆☆☆☆ for poor customer service, laziness from its employees, and the funky attitude of its management team. -
The sweet lady with the glasses is always super helpful and kind. I was buying fabric there last week and the computer was having issues so it took some time to get me rung up. She discounted my items and if it wasn't for her customer service I would have not returned to shop there

I hope these photos help others to know what this location has to offer.

Great variety of plants. Outdoor plants are well taken care of. 4 stars because of the not well kept indoor plant section. Whoever is in charge of the indoor plants should at least water them, most of the plants are half dead. I bought a few and when I re-potted them the soil was so dry that the roots started to crumble. Sad to see the indoor plants weathering away due to lack of care.

today when I parked my car in the lot, there were two day laborers, drinking beer in the parking space directly next to mine. When I came back from my shopping, they were still there, and there was a huge splash on the side of the back of my car, including part of my back window. The only logical conclusion is that they splashed beer on my car, for unknown reasons.
