I’m so glad I hired Sal at Pacific Breeze to help design and install my front and backyard.  My project was massive.  I needed walls, gates, electrical, gas, BBQ island, fire pit, pavers, concrete, turf, lighting, irrigation, and of course plants and trees.  Pacific Breeze came out and listened to my wants and needs.  They created a beautiful 3D design and brought my vision to life.  They provided multiple views from different angles including overhead. They had everything laid out so I could see my front and backyard during the day and night time.  The completed project is even more beautiful than the pictures.  I would like to say thank you to Sal and the whole team at Pacific Breeze for a job well done, on time and within budget.

Sal and his crew paved our backyard and did an EXCELLENT job. Sal is very creative and suggested a beautiful design for our backyard. Dakin and Clay were fabulous. From design to finished yard and reasonable cost, it all worked out great. We will hire Dakin and Clay again for our front yard.

The largest project we have done with them could not have made us happier. It was quite an investment of both time and money, which Dakin completely understood, and went above and beyond to help us realize. He helped my husband ideate a custom, extra long french drain, as well as install. We go to him for everything !

My wife and I would have loved to have worked with Dakin. At our initial meeting he was prompt, friendly, understood our vision and had lots of great feedback. He said he'd put together a proposal and get back to us. That was two months ago and we've not heard a word from him since. During that time, I've texted, left a voicemail, and emailed him through his website to determine whether or not he was still interested in working with us. I even explained that if he had changed his mind and was no longer interested in the job, that we would understand. But please articulate that. Still no response from Dakin. I'm sure he does great work. All the other reviews seem to think so. But if you're looking for a landscaper who communicates well, Dakin probably isn't your guy.

Just saw what Canvas Landscaping did at Whitney and Carlos’ home. The front yard is gorgeous! They did a great job. I highly recommend their work.

I have had the pleasure of working with Dakin from Canvas Landscaping. They exceeded my expectations. They transformed my backyard into a stunning space that I enjoy morning, day, and night. They are committed to delivering top-notch work. They make it a point to check in every few months and make sure everything is thriving as planned. I had an issue with my sprinklers more than a year after the project was completed and they addressed it properly ( at no additional charge -this level of service shows their honest and dedication to client satisfaction). I recently worked with Dakin and his team to complete my backyard transformation, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. We worked with Dakin for a backyard rehaul last year, though unlike others, our experience was pretty mixed. I’ll start with the positives:

Dakin is overall a very nice guy and was easy to communicate with at the start of our project. He has high attention to detail and has a good eye for design, which is not always a given with landscapers.

He was very patient with us and did a great job breaking down the scope of our project down to very small details. He did a fantastic job modifying the design we gave him from our architect designer and explained pros/cons of the changes he proposed. Changes included adding in additional mounds, adding retaining walls, and using different cost-cutting materials that better fit our budget.

He is also quite knowledgeable about different types of plant material, which was a very important component of our yard redesign.

The not so positive:

He disregarded explicit instructions to remove old black mulch from the hill, despite us pleading with him multiple times, which is now mixed into our new gravel after it settled. The road base that he used is also now mixed into the gravel. We’ve had to pay our gardeners on numerous occasions to remove old bark chips by hand, but they keep popping up over time.

The concrete subcontractors that he used were actively drinking on the job and used our yard as a dumping ground for broken glass and other material completely unrelated to our project. Our dog cut his paw running up the steps due to a protruding shard of glass that was mixed into our gravel. The control joint going down the middle of our yard is also not straight, presumably because they were inebriated while making the cut. He took zero accountability and threatened to "turn things over to his attorney" after I voiced my frustration, admittedly using a couple of profanities directed at his subcontractors. This was shortly after he requested advanced payment, to which we agreed to in good faith. Lesson learned the hard way on this one.

We’ve tried to contact him for about three months now about very minor warranty fixes (retaining wall caps are loose, exposed lighting/irrigation wiring throughout the yard, one of our magnolia trees is starting to die).

Disappointing overall given the promising start.
