About the business:

Mattos Monuments started out as California Marble and Granite Works in 1897 in Oakland California making tombstones. Since, the craft and company has been passed down to the next 4 generations. The company moved to Hayward in the 1930's, just down the street from our current location, moving one last time in the 1960's to current location by then owner Julio Bras. Product offerings expanded to gravestones, monuments, engraving, civic monuments, donation bricks and benches to name a few. Bob Mattos, Julio's son in law took over the business in 1997. Two of Bobs sons, Bobby and Ryan round out the team of 8 making it a true family business
