MSP HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING

My 4-year-old HVAC unit was not responding to the thermostat, so I called HSP Heating & AC in Riverside for a diagnosis because they had the most 4+ reviews. The technician who arrived was courteous and claimed to have been with the company for six years. He seemed knowledgeable about his craft.

I did some research prior to the service call and told the technician that it could be the safety switch that might have tripped. After spending a few minutes inspecting the unit, he confidently stated that the module was dead and that the builder had failed to install a surge protector which caused it to blow out. He then pulled out his phone and showed me the cost of a replacement module board, which would have been US$3,000, plus an additional US$500 to install a surge protector.

As he was coming down from the attic, where my HVAC unit is located, he tripped, causing his metal ladder to hit the drywall, leaving a noticeable deep dent and several scratches which they fixed the next day. I asked if he was okay, and he assured me he was fine. Before leaving, I gave him a tip, and he turned around and offered me a 15% discount, bringing the total cost down to US$2,550. I did the math and was sold on the offer since US$2,550 was far more manageable than the original US$3,500 he quoted.

I was about to schedule the service when I decided to check if my fairly new unit was still under warranty—which it was. A week later, a technician from the manufacturer’s distributor came and was able to get my HVAC running again by simply turning on the safety switch. There was nothing wrong with the module board.

Had I gone with HSP, I would have unnecessarily spent $2,550. While I wanted to give the first technician the benefit of the doubt, the reality proved otherwise. It was both disappointing & concerning! This incident reminds me to always get a second opinion!

Always provided great customer service. Responded to my call as soon as possible. Brandon was knowledgable and provided great customer service. He did a great job at addressing my furnace issues. Definitely recommend going with MSP.

Quoted me very high for fan motor replacement . Forced to give them 5 stars review to get discount. From $1,400 they came down to $1,000 and finally to $750. They refused to give me breakdown of how much for parts and labor. Did the job
and left. I called Corporate office and after several discussions gave me screenshot of how much they charged me for labor. They overcharged me for labor-one hour they charged $540 . Asked for refund but refused. Have to filed complaint to Contractor’s Board
