Person who came out was unfamiliar with Rain Bird master controls, which is one of the most popular timer out there. Never touched the sprinkler head or the area where water was present, yet declared in the quote that the "main line" had to be replaced. Quoted me nearly $400 for a repair that ended up taking half an hour and about $5 in parts and cost $100. He never even touched the pipes or tried to determine where the leak was coming from. Turns out it was a simple riser that took no digging at all. He then doubled down in messages attempting to justify this overcharge by saying his pricing is based on "potential problems he might encounter." I believe he figured I was a single woman so he assumed I didn't know enough about sprinklers to argue, but I personally have worked on hundreds of linear feet of them and I know them well. I just didn't have time or inclination on my weekend to take care of it. If you're a woman, beware of overcharging and get multiple quotes and ask questions before deciding. He didn't even take 5 minutes to accurately diagnose the problem, let alone the quote cost.
