Waste Management reviews in North Highlands, California

Super busy. I couldn't get in on Sunday the line was down the street. It was a little better on Monday. About 45 mins without a trailer. Pickup with a load below the height of the cab pays 20-25 dollars flat fee. no weigh in or weigh out much faster. Organize your load. If it's green waste, grass/tree limbs etc goes in one pile. Metals and appliances go to another.

This place is usually pretty quick to get in and out of since they normally have weighed loads and non weighed loads in separate lines. This last trip they didn't do that. The lines to get in were backed up to the street and around the corner. The unloading are was empty though, seems like they were having trouble keeping up with taking payments.

Signs are not clear! We went to recycle used batteries, and ended up in the very long line to drop off waste. If you need to recycle household hazardous waste, turn right before the first attendant house! Apparently this happens fairly often. Man at the hazardous waste site was very nice and that took only a few moments compared to the half hour wait in the wrong line. Also, check hours before you go since they are not open every day. Lesson learned! (Local Ace hardware charges $2/lb to recycle batteries. Might be worth the cost to avoid the hassle. )

All and all it's a quick and easy experience at a decent price but there is nails and pieces of metal all over that usually ends up in one of my tires.

Too crowded, waited for over three hours and still haven't reached the point to get rid of the waste!

Friendly staff and quick process

The price went way up on pick up truck load. It cost $40 + $10 overload fee. That was $50 February 13'th 2021.. it was $20 a load in October. Other then that the cashier was nice, the guy that directs you on where to go and dump your junk was Cool.. THE PRICE IS WHAT SUCKS!

Beware of sticker shock $40.00 just from a pick up load. But the more people we bring into this county and as fast as we are filling up our land fill since we are so wasteful and they have to purchase more land it's not bad. But be ready and don't get mad at the employees there just like you and I.

Absolute bs. Pricing rates are not clear on the website and overpriced minimums at that. Have a truck bed made into a trailer, and because it is a trailer (only differnce being it cant power itself), the minimum is more expensive than a regular truck. Never using this place again.

This hazardous waste removal and disposal site was easy to find. I simply drove in (getting out your car is not allowed nor recommended) and someone came out right away to help me. He opened up the liftgate to my car, unloaded the boxes, and took them inside the facility. Bring your driver's license (or ID) as they do check. It is also strongly encouraged to dispose of your hazardous waste ONCE a month, instead of weekly. Thank you for the efficient and quick service!

Always busy very chaotic. They charge a lot and they have a stupid rule that if you don't strap down your waste, they charge you and additional 25 dollars
-
As usually... they keep a lot of empty dumping spots and the few hours line to dump here...
-
Poor customer service. I went to Hazardous Waste to drop off my empty gas container. I parked my car, took my gas container and walked in. The guy told me to go back and drive my car. I told him can I just drop it of here since I am here. The guy told me "no". I told him "why"? He got frustrated and repeated the same thing. He did not explain why I should drive in instead of walking in. Unfortunately I don't know his name but he had long blond hair. He needs to learn some customer service skills.

I have never been to a transfer station so slow. I happen to be working in the area and needed a dump run. Waited in line 1 hours to be able to dump a load. Staff member didn't even apologize for such a long wait.

Crazy. They make you sort and pull out the metal from my dump trailer. I’ll just go to Lincoln from now on. Horrible experience. It’s worth the 20 mile drive to go to Lincoln

The prices are way out of line. Ridiculous that a regular size pick up is $20 more than just about every other side of the vehicle. Plus the spotters don’t pay attention when you drive up and are super rude when you ask them what you’re supposed to do, particularly the girl, she was the worst if you’re expecting decent customer service. She clearly needs another job.
Signage is poor and this really no a place to come to if you want decent service and have other options. -
Everyone is nice here but they put a dump in a horrible location and there's no prioritization here, It's quite obvious that this is more meant for commercial than residential they barely prioritize any bays for residential. Out of the 8 bays maybe 2-3 max will be allowed for residential. Big mess takes forever. Better off driving to yolo county landfill. It cost me $40 to throw away 2 small sofas and I burned $20 of diesel in line waiting for an hour.

The waiting time to dump garbage has consistently increased, in addition to the fees for the exact same service. I spend a ridiculous amount of time, (45 minutes to 75 minutes) waiting for the scale, then queuing up in the right line, then actually dumping the refuse, and then waiting another line to weigh out and pay the bill. There are definitely not enough of these transfer stations around the greater Sacramento area. The lines are always extremely long. I see why people illegally dump.

Pricing is fair and the employees are usually friendly, that’s the only reason they got two stars. The lay out is horrible, wait times can be upwards of 2 hours. I’ve picked up nails in my tires and they could careless. They definitely could be better about keeping the area cleaner and more organized.

Yes, they increased their prices by a lot, but they posted the changes well in advance. It was a bargain before, and is still reasonable compared to other northern California landfills. The staff has always been professional, courteous and well informed. Long lines are long lines - not their fault and managed well. Appliances and many items are free to dump. It would be great if they took other various items for free, but hey- that needs to be considered on the consumer side, not the landfill side.. Overall, always a fair and good experience. Thank you.

Line is slow. Chickens are cool.
