Great selection, friendly and knowledgeable staff who clearly love plants, and reasonable prices compared to other area nurseries. They've got it all- indoor plants, outdoor plants, succulents, pots, small plants, big plants, you name it. But mostly, go for the people- they'll help you find whatever you're looking for.

For such a small nursery it has a lot of specialty items and they'll order things, maybe not in lock down but usually. Like any retail that's not at the edge of the Town under the high tension wires by the railroad tracks, I'm sure they have high rent and labor costs and so as you might expect it's pricey. I often come away with treasures I never expected to find; my last trip they had Crista-galli tropical coral trees in the small quart size that had obviously been rooted. What a wonderful surprise it is to find something so exotic in an affordable size. There is usually a really decent section of California natives and selections from beloved regional nurseries like Annie's annuals and lone pine nursery up in Sebastopol. All in all I am very grateful that we have a nursery of this caliber that's walkable for many lake Merritt neighborhoods.

The staff was very helpful n knowledgable. I picked up my plant n inquired about a Japanese red pine. They said they didn't have it n haven't seen it around for several years. They then gave me a referral to a tree nursery . Really appreciate their assistance in helping me.

Unbelievable customer service there! I will definitely go back. Parking not so great. Busy store but well worth it. So nice and helpful. Hard to find people who will go extra mile to help. Donning a great big smile 🙂 Love it

I love going here. For a small place, the selection of plants, tools, amendments, and everything else for your garden is outstanding. The service is also top notch. In more than a decade of experience with this place, I've never been disappointed.

This is my go to hardware store in Oakland. If they don't have it they can order it for sure. They have a lock and key specialist who orders nearly any hardware you might want. They have a decent selection and tools and they don't price couch. They have a household goods section with kitchen supplies and hobby supplies to include craft paints and balsa wood. I love this place.

Amazing. Purely amazing. I went in because my little Al(Aloe Vera plant) had a plague of locusts(fungus gnats) and I needed to get him some help ASAP. Eric helped me and he was rather amazing, dedicated, and very very knowledgeable!!! I told him the problem and he recommended a few things, but once I showed him the photo of Al, he went to the back and brought me back a remedy that has already changed my botany teenagers life!! After purchasing the products Eric recommended, I have not been seeing fungus gnats on Al in as little as a few hours! I might also add that I came 5 minutes to closing and Eric was still very friendly and dedicated to assist me with my teenage Aloe barbadensis miller!!😁😁

Truly the best nursery in all of Oakland. They are so knowledgeable and they take such good care of their plants.

I don't give too many 5 stars. This ACE nursery is smaller than most but it has a awesome varieties of plants. And if u can't find something. They can order for you. They find a plant I seek for a long time from a grower from Oregon. Prices are reasonable for the quality you get and staff is very knowledgeable and willing to help. I will drive 25 minutes to this nursery rather than 8 minutes to my neighbour nursery.

My visit there was like taking a stroll through a peaceful garden. Lots of plants to look at but I thought there would be a larger variety. They have several of each plant instead. Perhaps that's how it should be, so many people will be able to get a particular plant. I just wished there were more lush plants. Everything was fine until it was time for the store to close which initially I didn't know. One staff informed me and as I was trying to find the way out, another stepped directly in my way, blocking me to tell me the same thing. I told her "I know I'm trying to get out of this place." Then she moved and directed me to the door. Uggh...

In the top 1%-2% in terms of quality. Way worth the visit. You will almost always find unique species, well kept of very high quality. The staff are friendly and even sometimes have a great sense of humor. A civilized ad not-disappointing location. :)

This place has a good selection and helpful staff. I've found some items here that are hard to come by elsewhere. I've only seen Aloe Hercules here and at Ruth Bancroft gardens and they didn't last long at either place.

In the past they did special orders too but Im not sure if they continue to do so with supply chain issues. Ask, can't hurt.

A wonderful array of seeds, knowledgeable and friendly staff, but what most stood out to me was the emphasis on native plants and pollinators as well as allowing nature to do its thing in the dirt. I actually wanted a plant that wasn’t even for sale it was just existing happily at the garden center!

The staff are friendly here and very helpful if you have questions. There is a great selection of plants, soils, pots, tools, and other items for your planting needs. It can get a bit crowded here, but people are generally polite and there is enough space for distancing or to move around in general. I like coming here.

Almost everything I need, very knowledgeable staff, and they will load your car. Fairly pricey for a place with weeds growing in the pots. Areas are not well-labeled -- it's hard to find things without asking. Good selection of perennials in 6-packs.

This place normally has high quality plants, a good selection of ceramics, and friendly, kind and knowledgeable staff. Prices are also very good.

Covid 19 seems to have made stocking ceramics difficult. Though they normally are a great place to buy a pot, you may be a little disappointed at the moment. They maintain a nice selection of succulents though a little diminished. I would still highly recommend this store. If they don't have the pot you want, I would still buy the plant there.

Great quality products & some staff members knowledgeable and helpful.

Just left the Ace Garden Center on Grand Ave. I must say it truly set the tone for my weekend with the customer service I received from the time I walked in until I left. They even had a young man walk me out to my car carrying my items. I’m looking forward to my next visit.

They have lots of nice plants here! Beautiful location. Right next to the rose garden.

It’s good and has what you need. The indoor plants can be outrageously expensive. But you can also find some really rare ones!
