I’ve been very pleased with the overall service I’ve received from the G-Core crew. The several excavation and concrete jobs they have done for me were done on time and were headache-free. The communication has also been excellent.

Chris did an incredible job designing and landscaping our backyard, and I highly recommend his work. I interviewed four different landscaping companies before choosing him, and Chris stood out as the most knowledgeable, especially about the Outer Sunset area in San Francisco and what grows best in this climate.

He really took the time to listen. We met several times before the work began to design the project, and I never felt rushed. He was flexible, collaborative, and easy to work with throughout the whole process. He stayed open to changes and new ideas as they came up, and he coordinated really well with my contractor.

I also found his prices to be very reasonable for single-family homeowners. I don’t have much gardening experience, and Chris was able to take the lead in creating a beautiful, low-maintenance backyard that fits my family’s lifestyle and the overall design of our home.

The work Chris at Earthtones does is more art than anything else. We first noticed his design at a few houses in the area and asked him to come by to see what he could do with our front yard.

He suggested several options in a variety of price ranges. We ultimately decided what we wanted in general, but given that we were redoing the stonework facade, river rocks for the ground, and the trees and plants, we were unsure how it would all look when it came together. Chris mocked it up for us right away. His eye for design is fantastic, which makes everything easy.

His attention to detail is also readily apparent in his work. When building our planter box for a garden, he researched a variety of food grade rubbers to line the box with and explained why he went with the one he did and wanted to confirm that it was ok. When we said we wanted low maintenance plants, he also suggested palms that would grow slower and wouldn't overtake the house and potentially cause concern for the homeowners insurance policy. He is meticulous with his craft and takes great pride in his work.

Chris has completed several landscape jobs for me going back to 2013. He always does an amazing job! He has a great eye for design and pays close attention to detail. I have been very pleased with the results every time! He is easy to work with, communicates clearly, has good ideas, and does what he says!

Chris recently did an extensive landscaping project for us including a retaining wall. He is highly knowledgeable and great at explaining the what, the why and the how. He also has a great eye aesthetically and really knows how to best design the space. Would highly recommend him!

Chris did a great job on our front and side yard: horizontal gapped Japanese-influenced fence and stain, turf prep and install, drought resistant plant install, future electrical install (wire readiness, no fixtures), and new concrete driveway and walking paths. We had a lot of different elevations and not a straight line in sight to start with, but his eye for design and detail really pulled together our landscaping into something lovely (and on schedule).

In particular, Chris was very detailed to where finishes abutted and definitely had an artisan’s eye when it came to our fence install—I appreciated this since I’m in the commercial construction industry and rarely find someone more finicky about the final look than me.

Chris of Earthtones has done work for us several times over the past three or four years. We live on a bluff overlooking the ocean. The strong winds, salt air, deer and other creatures make it a real challenge to find plants that will work. Chris has met that challenge with an excellent selection of succulents and other plants and with knowledge of what will and will not work. He has a great eye for artistic placement of the plants and working in rocks and logs. Chris shows up when expected and works very hard and doesn't waste time. His prices are reasonable.

Chris is amazing! About a year ago he replaced our traditional lawn with beautiful, drought resistant, very low maintenance landscaping. (Our water bill has been cut in half! ) The yard is now a lovely garden. People comment on how beautiful it is- even the UPS guy. We love it!

Five years later we remain very happy with the results. All the plants still look great, the drip system has been perfect, and it has required minimal upkeep.
