Kitchen Remodeler reviews in Palo Alto, California

I'm writing a belated review for European Cabinets & Design Studio. We used their services for a home/kitchen remodel last year. We selected European Cabinets after evaluating several cabinet companies. The biggest reason is that they are not cabinet sellers, they are kitchen designers. Lena Pekker, their designer visited our home, understood our needs over a few meetings, and designed a beautiful and functional kitchen for us. Secondly, their Italian cabinets have unique features that we loved and couldn't find elsewhere. We found the perfect color and finish for our decor. Thirdly, prices are very competitive for comparable design and quality. Alex in their installation team handled the installation professionally. Overall it was a pleasure to work with Robert Berkovich (Owner) and the entire team. I highly recommend them.

Excellent job! Highest recommendation.
Robert was very thorough in helping make sure the design fit our space .
we will enjoy for years this beautiful kitchen -
Beautiful designs, extremely professional and reliable. Working with Robert and Alexandra was nothing but amazing from the beginning of the project until the end. Definitely would recommend to all.

What company gives me a price quote for kitchen cabinets without an itemized description? This company. Absolutely no transparency = no business. As an interior designer, I've never heard of such a thing.

If only I can give zero star. The European accent salesperson is arrogant. When we told him our budget is from 10k to 20k, he said he wonder with this budget, if we can get any kitchen cabinets in the market and maybe we can try homedepot.
Stay away from this store. Don’t be deceived by the looking. They have cheap metal drawers, not wood ones. I cannot imagine a 30k+ cabinet is having such a low quality. -
We moved to Santa Cruz mountains 2 years ago. With nice combination of redwoods & sunny gardens all around we inherited typical rustic mountain chalet. Dark very partitioned space with tiny kitchen and stove. Our biggest desire was to open the space and create a contrast between crisp urban interior and natural green surrounding.
We were searching for designers/distributors for quite a while until we found European Cabinets & Design Studios.
Alexandra and Robert immediately recognized what can make a radical change.
They proposed light gray Skema laminate with reclaimed wood texture for the floors. Thin engineered structure of laminate played perfectly with our elevated and not very even floor.
Alexandra designed most optimal layout of cabinets and drawers. She created two contrasting lines for upper and lower cabinets: glossy white upper cabinets and matte soft dark gray for lower cabinets. Robert suggested and picked Miele appliances to match the design and kitchen dimensions. He also found matching precisely to lower cabinets slab for countertop.
The entire process from design to installation took about 3 months, which is a typical timeline for custom over the sea furniture production.
Kitchen installers crew worked out the magic adjusting the cabinets to our uneven floors.
Countertop master has artfully sealed the slab pieces, so that entire countertop looks like a whole piece.
We are extremely thankful to entire European Cabinets & Design Studios team for creating our dream kitchen/dining space. -
As a general contractor, we obviously enlist the help of subcontractors on a regular basis. Occasionally there are certain companies with whom we work with that are so good that they are our only contractor for that trade. European Cabinets is a perfect example. We have been working with their lead fabricator for nearly 10 years. Not only is their pricing competitive, their quality and service is exceptional! Bottom line: no need to shop around...these people are the real deal!!

This is one stop shop.Amazing people who own the shop. They did our kitchen and master bedroom remodel 15 years ago.It was impeccable job. Now remodeling almost done in our new home.
Everything looks first class.
Professionalism ,punctuality and personal touches in every little detail.
Alexandra and Robert are people to go to.
Most definitely 5 star business! -
Hi, we engaged with the plaster wall company advertised in your shop (AAC Design). The wall was not done as per what he had asked and it is now left hanging. And the payment was already paid , so we are now in a limbo. We found this plaster design through your shop. Either the work should be completed as per what we asked or money should be refunded. Please advise the best way to proceed. Please DM me and I will show you both pictures of my wall and what we originally asked for

We remodeled our kitchen and some other parts of our house recently.
European Cabinets were the best of all the people we worked with for the remodel. Robert and Alexandra helped us design the kitchen around the new space we were going to have, and were very patient with us - we went back and forth for weeks, deciding on the style, materials, colors and finishing. We also always got great cappuccino every time we drop by too =)
The kitchen cabinets took a while to arrive (3 months+), but they were gorgeous once installed. Their installer, Rick, was also outstanding - hands down the best installer I've ever met. He has an amazing work ethic, paid attention to details, and ensured that everything was installed perfectly. Now our kitchen looks like it came out of a design magazine and we couldn't be more happy!
You can tell that they really care about their work. They want the work done perfectly and for us to be fully satisfied. They communicate constantly when we need them (even during weekends), and willing to do work above and beyond their responsibility to make sure everything runs smoothly (eg. Rick fixed a badly installed kitchen hood for us even though it was my other contractor's fault).
After our remodel, we regret not trusting every single one of Robert's recommendation for other work we got done. Every one of his recommendation worked out great - that includes his installer (Rick) and countertop guy (Raul). We can't say the same for the contractor that we chose ourselves. Robert's very frank and can seem brusque at times, but that's part of the reason why we trusted him. -
This review is more of a thank you letter to Robert, Alexandra, Sarah, and their installation crew at European Cabinets. Our down-to-the-studs remodel was a big project and involved many logistical, design, and problem-solving decisions. We were extremely lucky to work with many talented and passionate individuals, and the European Cabinet team were among our favorites.
They provided the cabinetry for our kitchen, master bedroom closet, and laundry room. Then, as we saw in person, the beauty and functionality of their products, we asked them to provide the cabinets for our master bathroom, to put in an open riser staircase, and to also design our study.
We have looked at many products from Germany, Italy, and of course, custom-built in the US. We felt what we got from European Cabinets in style, durability, quality, and price-- was unmatched. There were certain areas for which I had a very specific image in my head of what I wanted (the study with 3 walls of built-in desks and window seat, and wall of bookcases) and I swear, Sarah somehow exactly replicated that vision based on a poorly drawn sketch I drew and some vague hand motions I made We also had a very modern, open-riser staircase in mind, which we were told either could not be done as we imagined, or would cost 2 to even 3 times as much as we ended up paying with European Cabinets.
We love our house and feel lucky to live here. We realized many of the favorite rooms in our house are in large part, due to the imagination, hard work, and products supplied by European Cabinets.
And last but definitely not least important, is that my husband, daughter, and I had a lot of fun and genuinely enjoyed working with Robert, Alexandra, and Sarah! Home building can be stressful and overwhelming at times, but we had delicious cappuccinos and belly-laughed our way through many a design meeting and their attentive-to-our-needs, yet firm guidance when our ideas got too crazy or just in poor taste, helped keep us on track, within budget, and avoid any heated marital “discussions” which can easily arise during the course of this type of project.
Thank you to Alexandra for her impeccable and decisive taste! Thank you to Sarah for instilling her cool vibe into every thoughtfully planned design! Thank you to Robert for keeping his cool during port workers’ strikes and amidst multiple projects and getting our project done in a timely fashion! Thank you to the installation crew who worked hard, were innovative problem-solvers, and left our site as clean as possible. We cannot say enough good things about our experience with European Cabinets!! -
We just finished remodeling our kitchen and upstairs bathroom with European cabinets and design. These guys are simply fenominal! They were incredibly helpful and very easy to work with. One of the impressive things was how responsive they were--whenever something came up, they immediately responded and dealt with right away. Robert and Alexandra re-designed our kitchen and bathroom completely in a much more convenient and very efficient way. And it looks amazing! Our kitchen did not have too much sunlight originally but their design made it appear much more spacious and bright. We also had a specific requirement for a custom made Casali glass kitchen table that had to have a custom made support, which Robert was able to design and had a steel guy make it for us completely from scratch. And it looks fantastic! They really are thinking things through and considering every detail and it was very clear that they had our interest in mind. The price was also very reasonable compared to other high end kitchens/bathrooms with the same high quality. It really was a pleasure working with them! Ans we absolutely recommend these guys to anyone!!!

We had a great experience working with European Cabinets. We were set out to build a new modern kitchen. We spent quite a lot of time researching various providers within California. Most of the providers we found were super expensive and still lacked the precision and the quality. We were about to settle on IKEA just based on the modern design, even though we didn’t like the quality. Just when we were about to give up our search, we accidentally found European Cabinets. Robert and Alexandra came across as honest and straightforward people. The entire team was very friendly and knowledgable. What we liked the most about them is that they have a great sense of aesthetics and functionality balance. Alexandra is a great designer. She convinced us to change our original design to move the cooking range from the wall-facing location to the island facing the great room. Now looking back, that is the most complimented feature of our new kitchen. The cabinets are really good quality and have the utmost precision we have seen so far. We used their cabinet and stone installation team. They were very professional and diligent.

We LOVE our kitchen, and are very happy with the engagement with European Cabinets. TLDR; We'd highly recommend working with them on your project.
We primarily worked with Lena, who was awesome, although during our project, I think we worked with everyone on the team at some stage and everyone was really helpful and friendly.
We really liked how the process started by taking initial requirements and dimensions and then a 'maximum' quote was provided. The point here was that the kitchen would cost no more than that, and if we were good with that price then we could pay a deposit and start on the proper kitchen design. This was fantastic - meant that we could design and tweak our kitchen without worry of the price ballooning.
We'd never rebuilt a house before, and haven't had to remodel a kitchen either - so the team at European Cabinets really helped guide us through all of the stages and helped make sure we didn't miss anything. Lena worked with us patiently and we iterated through a few design options before finalizing on what we ordered.
Once ordered, the kitchen was made in Italy and then shipped to us in California. It all arrived 'pre-built' in its cabinets but of course the cabinets had to be arranged and mounted to the wall. This was all smooth, and everything went well. Lena also helped provide guidance on things like the countertop, and sink and appliances.
Anyway, now that its all installed, we are super happy with it and everyone that has seen it is super impressed. We haven't moved in yet as the rest of the project is still being completed, but we can't wait to use the kitchen and enjoy the new space!
Thank you Lena and European Cabinets! -
It's the second time that we worked with European Cabinet and Design Studio and the reason was that we were so happy and had such a great experience the first time that we had remodeled 3 bathrooms and bought all of our bathroom furniture from there.
This time, our remodel was major and European Cabinet was in charge of design, material and installation of our entire kitchen, master bathroom, in-law suite bathroom, entrance door and bar.
Robert and Alexandra worked with us like we were family. They went above and beyond for our project and worked very well with our general contractor. Alexandra's design is superb and Robert's professionalism and managing the time and budget is impressive. I wish they would provide the service for outdoor kitchen cabinets as well so they could be one stop shop for home owners. Thank you Robert and Alexandra for giving our house the wow factors. -
Because the previous cabinets in my house were outdated and made of dark wood, I wanted to replace them with something different. I looked at many stores in the Bay Area, including American, Vietnamese, and Chinese cabinet companies. Ultimately, I decided on Changshi Cabinets, which was recommended by a friend. After the renovation, the cabinets looked beautiful. The quality is excellent, with no small parts or issues. They are aesthetically pleasing, spacious, and practical. The cabinet doors are also easy to clean. Most importantly, compared to several other companies, Changshi offered the best value for money in terms of price and quality. It's definitely worth recommending. It truly lives up to its reputation as a long-standing Bay Area brand with over 20 years of experience.
