Great company to work with! The owners and staff were courteous and professional. To notch company!
-
They were great and helping me get a load of wood chips delivered which is something they do when they can. Thanks!

Terrific arborists and tree services. They've cared for our oak trees for years and have always been reasonable (though sometimes have to wait for weeks to get an appointment) and provide good care suggestions.

Had their arborist come out. Very straight forward. He didn’t try to sell us on getting stuff done to our trees we don’t need. Very helpful. I have used them for 5 years or so.

I call these guys the 'Tree Whisperers'. We have worked with them for years and they have pruned, fertilized, make recommendations and simply LOVED and appreciated our trees the entire time. We live on a creek, so they educated me about how tree diseases can travel 'downstream''. They helped me protect my trees when my neighbors were losing theirs. They also run a great business - professional reminders always sent out ahead of time - workers arrive on time and consistently do good work. Highly recommended!!

Jason Shirar (their certified master arborist) is fantastic. He's very knowledgeable and takes the time to explain his recommendations and the work. Crews work quietly and efficiently, and clean up completely afterward. The TREE WORK is excellent. The only thing preventing me from giving this company a 5-star review is their recent merger with Bartlett Tree Experts, which has resulted in some significant management, systems and billing issues/miscommunications, and the delays and inconvenience of dealing with a main office that's now thousands of miles away.

We had a major rain and wind storm last weekend. It blew down a very large elm tree in our yard, resting on our roof. We were very concerned that additional roof damage might be caused by the wind and rain with the tree having fallen onto the roof. We called Miguel at McClanahan and he came to our house within 1 hour. He was able to get his team over to our house with their equipment within 2 hours. They did a great job of safely cutting back the branches and then removing the tree despite the ongoing heavy winds and rain. The team appeared to be very experienced and skillful. They successfully completed the work and cleaned up within 4 hours. The charges for the work were very reasonable. We will be having them out again in the future for more routine work.

We used McClenahan for our tree work over the past three decades. Now it has been bought by “Bartlett” and everything is downhill. The recent work they did was shoddy and careless, including damage to plants near the trees. Clean-up was only partial, with a pile of chips left on top of plants in the front of the house nowhere near the trees where the work was done. When I got the usual survey and complained: right—total silence. We’ll find a better company for the future.

We used McClanahan for years. With the Barrett buyout service has gone downhill. Their arborists - the guys on the ground or up in the trees - are still excellent. But dealing with the business side is most unpleasant. Lots of promises and assurances and no follow through. Or a call out of the blue announcing they are coming out to fertilize your trees when it was already done. We used McClanahans for many years. We will be shopping around for a new arborist now.

I have used McClenahan many times over the past 10 years but their service has really dropped off. I have a job that was supposed to be scheduled for May, then dropped off the calendar. I have called four times (over three weeks) and asked for Juan to return a phone call - nothing! Not sure what has happened, but the responsiveness is terrible. I will be looking for another company after 10 years if this is how they treat a valued customer.

We selected S.P. McClenahan after reviewing bids from other tree care companies. S.P. McClenahan provided us multi-tree services with a high level of class at our home in Menlo Park. Miguel, a seasoned professional in the field, visited our property and provided his guidance and recommendations that were both thoughtful and considerate. Their pro-crew completed the project with respectful care at our property, and with sensitivity towards our neighbors. If you ever need tree care, I highly recommend requesting Miguel for a consultation. You will enjoy his classy personality and his pro-crew. I’m sure that you will be glad that you had chosen S.P. McClenahan as well.
Note picture and videos of how the pro-crew tied ropes to the branches prior to cutting the branches, and how they took care of the roof and solar tube with their special reaching trucks. -
The Bartlett team was terrific! They provided professional advice on timing for the trim our overgrown magnolia tree. They were prompt and left the worksite immaculate. Would use them again and heartily recommend.

Jason Ash is a skilled arborist who has cared for our large old Zelcovas, Junipers and Cedars for the past 7 years. He has supervised the trimming and fertilizing. Our trees survive winter storms and I feel safe knowing that our house will likely not be damaged by falling trees of limbs as long as I listen to Jason and allow his crew to perform needed maintenance.

My experience with Palo Alto Bartlett was great! Juan Larios is always courteous, professional and easy to work with. We have had a history of working with S.P. McClenahan Tree Service, now Bartlett Tree Experts, for over a decade and we are still happy customers.

This is the 2nd year we've had Bartlett tree service trim our trees. Jason Ash is really knowledgeable and conscientious. The crew was nice, efficient and knew what they were doing. My trees look great! l

Sometimes you come across a person/business that restores your faith in humanity! We had a really large tree branch come crashing down onto our house in the latest storm associated with the CA atmospheric river. We asked a couple of arborists to come by to look at the situation. After talking about the situation with me and viewing pictures, Jason (Bartlett, Portola Valley) said the job could probably be done by a skilled gardener, offered instructions as to how to take the branch down safely, and added that it would probably cost a lot if we hired an arborist (including his company). He then offered to come by in the late afternoon/early evening to see it in person. When he arrived, he quickly took the branch down himself with his chain saw and left it in smaller, disposable pieces. He said there was no charge! Needless to say, we will use this company in the future for any tree needs we have and recommend that any one reading this review do likewise.
