Tree reviews in Rancho Santa Fe, California

One of a homeowner’s greatest reliefs is knowing that the people caring for their property are not only competent, but deeply invested in getting every detail right. There simply aren’t enough stars to give Fran and Bill and their team at Mariposa. From the moment we began working with them, it was clear we were in the hands of true professionals, thoughtful, meticulous, and genuinely committed to excellence. Their ability to assess, plan, and execute across multiple aspects of the property, irrigation, lighting, trees, and overall aesthetics, is nothing short of remarkable, and they somehow make it all look effortless, which I’m fairly certain it isn’t.

What sets them apart is not just their expertise, but their wisdom and care. They treat the property as if it were their own, anticipating issues before they arise and solving problems before you even know they exist. At this point, I’m convinced they can see underground pipes, future root systems, and possibly into the next decade. Their team is skilled, respectful, and a pleasure to have on site. Working with Mariposa has been a complete joy, and we feel incredibly fortunate to have found them. If you want your property in the best possible hands, this is the team you want, just be prepared for your expectations to be permanently raised.

Fran and crew do a professional tree trimming job and are great to work with! I recommend them to anyone needing tree service, landscape work, or help with their irrigation systems/drainage.

I know over a dozen landscapers, tree trimmers, irrigation work specialists, and at least arborists. I have known Fran Lambert at Mariposa as an arborist for over 20 years. Her husband is an excellent tree trimmer. They specialize in high end landscape work and very technical multi-station and multi-area irrigation work.

At my commercial building I had a tree that was approximately 80 years old and over 100 feet tall that Mariposa “laced” every 10 years. They did an absolutely wonderful job on this tree for approximately 30 years. Eventually, the tree roots were destroying an alleyway, the parking lot, and literally rots had gone under the building foundation, threatening to raise the walls of the commercial building. We retained Mariposa to remove the tree and grind the stump.

This was the largest tree I have ever seen removed, in a very cramped commercial area, and the rope work by the Mariposa tree trimmers was absolutely stunning. All day long people in multi-story structures were watching the tree trimming. All day long people were on the sidewalk across the street were watching the tree trimming.

Thank you Mariposa Landscape and Tree Service.

Very professional and efficient service. The landscape technicians are very knowledgeable about and provide spectacular service.

Finding Mariposa Landscape & Tree Service has been the best contact I have made! My drip irrigation was a mess and I had very costly water bills. Fran and her professional team had a new approach that has improved my landscape with appropriate watering, lowered my water bills and given me peace of mind. In addition, everyone with the company is a true pleasure to work with.

We’ve been working with Fran and the Mariposa team over the past few months on a complex, evolving landscaping project at our home. From irrigation planning and water flow analysis to slope restoration, rosemary mass planting, and thoughtful tree selection — Fran has guided every step with deep expertise, creativity, and care.

She has an amazing eye for aesthetics while being pragmatic and resourceful. Her crew is hardworking, and she brings out the best in them with her clear direction and collaborative spirit. We’ve particularly appreciated how detail-oriented she is and how much she truly cares — whether it’s adjusting irrigation schedules, identifying subtle leaks, or sending last-minute ideas to elevate a space.

Fran is a rare find — knowledgeable, reliable, and genuinely invested in the long-term success of your landscape. Highly recommended.

Recently did a major remodel of my 40 year old Rancho Santa Fe garden involving “zone zero” compliance, walkways, trellis, raised beds and lots of planting and upgraded irrigation. Fran and Bill Lambert were here every day over several weeks ensuring that everything was perfect, ably aided by their outstanding and long-serving crew. What a pleasure they all are to work with!

Fran and Bill are such wonderful people and they truly offer the best services. Their crew's work is amazing, and they are very proficient in all the work that they do! The transformations they can perform are amazing!

I have been using Mariposa Landscape and Tree Service for close to 20 years for tree trimming, maintenance, irrigation and drainage, and new plantings from landscape designs.

They have an excellent crew with expertise and experience. The crew is efficient, on-time and pay attention to details regardless of the size of any specific project. Their tree trimming has been exceptional and instrumental in maintaining the health of my trees and landscape. They have expertise as an arborist and in diagnosing pests issues with both trees and landscape.

They removed a massive Aleppo pine tree in my backyard within a tight space. It was a marvel to watch the process and the expertise of their tree crew in taking down this tree and not damaging anything. I wouldn't have had anyone else do it.

They re-designed my drainage system which is improved things dramatically - especially give all the rain this year.

I highly recommend them.
