Yesterday I had Mike to find the leaks in my irrigation and repair the nozzles and other landscaping works. Mike had done an excellent job. He’s very honest and professional. I really satisfied with his performance.

We started our project with Pool Time, who handled the pool and some concrete work, and were referred to Dad’s Backyard for the rest. Initially, we were hesitant about working with two different companies, but the process was seamless. Dad’s Backyard and Pool Time coordinated perfectly and kept the project on schedule.

Mike went above and beyond his scope of work, helping resolve issues left by other subcontractors and ensuring everything was completed properly. Nearly a year later, the yard still looks amazing—the turf looks as good as new, and we’ve enjoyed the space every day.

We’re happy to give Dad’s Backyard a five-star review. They’ve since completed projects for our neighbors and a cousin, all with excellent results. Their work is high quality and fairly priced—while you might find cheaper options, you truly get what you pay for.

I had high hopes. Communication started off great, very responsive and professional, until about 2/3 of the payment was made. After that, it all went downhill. I had two massive agaves that were destroyed because of bad instructions. Materials were bought and laid down without my approval before I received any design for the yard. Then landscape design plans took weeks to get after being promised multiple times they'd send them by end of day. They no showed several times without any notice, and the work that was promised was either incomplete, wrong, or not done at all. To make matters worse, they shut off my water for several hours in order to do a quick install of an outdoor spigot and never turned it back on when they left. Mind you it's peak summer. I paid for a drip system that took multiple days to be installed while my newly planted plants died. I was left on read, completely ghosted with no explanation for multiple days. Deadlines were missed by weeks, and whenever I did get a response, it came with an excuse that always involved some kind of catastrophic personal event. Overall, the lack of follow through, constant delays, and total drop in communication were incredibly disappointing. STAY AWAY! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!

UPDATE: 7 months have passed and there are weeds growing through the freshly laid weed barrier and decomposed granite. Mike assured that there would be at least a 3 years before the barrier would deteriorate. Also the decomposed granite was not sealed properly it's still soft as sand. Mike said he was going to come back to finish the reseal but there has been no communication from Mike since 7 months ago. Garbage and unreliable work. 0/5 stars.
