I have been a Schmitt Heating & Air Conditioning customer for over a decade now and they have never let me down. Their entire staff, from their customer service department to their technicians are very knowledgable and professional. Their heating and air technicians have years of experience and are the best that I have come across in the industry. If you are looking for a new heating and air system or even wanting to maintain your existing system, I would definitely not look any further than Schmitt Heating & Air Conditioning. They will do a fantastic job for a very reasonable price. I give them 5 out of 5 stars! Please don't change a thing at Schmitt Heating & Air Conditioning. Thank you again for your help, expertise and service.

I can’t be more grateful to Saul for getting my heating system up and running.

Saul was friendly, professional, skilled and efficient. He diagnosed the problems and fixed them, keeping me informed and presenting alternatives. I believe that we have a like-new furnace at a fraction of the full-replacement cost.

Amazing service visit today to address 30 rooftop top fans for all 20-units in the building. Great conversation with Bryant Gannon (service technician). I've requested an annual maintenance agreement following this visit today.

Called Schmitt Heating and Cooling during the February 2024 cold snap when our condo's ancient furnace died. The Customer Service Department responded immediately and sent Saul to our rescue. Saul's professionalism was evident from the start. He not only diagnosed the issue with our 85-year-old furnace but also patiently explained our options for repair or replacement. He provided a clear and competitive quote the next day, which was so good that our upstairs neighbor decided to replace their unit as well! Saul, Tom, and their team worked tirelessly to get both units up and running quickly. They were respectful of our space and made sure everything was clean afterwards. We're so grateful for their hard work and absolutely love our new furnace!

I have been using Schmitt for many years, and they installed my latest furnace about 8 years ago. All the service technicians have been excellent — friendly, informative, efficient, and knowledgeable. They will continue to be my HVAC provider and service company.

Hey, so I've had really good experiences with Schmitt. They installed my HVAC 15 years ago (Carrier Infinity 3-zone system), and when issues came up recently they sent Bryant out and he set things right. And, when an issue reoccurred, he came out again, determined that it was an issue with a thermostat that he had just replaced, and re-replaced the dud thermostat for free. That's great service!

They scheduled a service with our client a week out, I explained we are on a deadline, they said it wasn’t a problem. We scheduled someone to meet them on site. I followed up to confirm service the night before- no response. An hour after they were supposed to be on site they called and decided they didn’t want to do the work any longer, I asked to speak with a manger and the lady hung up on me.

Schmitt installed the original HVAC in my condo and the building.

However they screwed up the job for my unit. The condensation could not be drained as the drain pipe was not properly installed. As a result, the internal coil rusted and knocked out the entire block of units A/C on my side.

When they came in to inspect, they blamed the entire issue on me saying I hadn't cleaned the dust filters. I have proof that I have indeed maintained and cleaned the dust jackets (photographs I have taken regularly to show others how to do it. Basically they were finding an excuse to shirk their original responsibility and avoid blame. They were trying to charge me $3000 for their faulty install.

After getting another A/C engineer in from a more reputable company, they found the problem and fixed it. It cost me the same but at least they explained to me what was wrong and how badly Schmitt had done the job.

All in all, these guys are horrible. They tried to get out of their responsibility and put blame for their own screw ups on others. Do NOT expect them to stand behind their work. They'll take your money and leave you hanging if there are problems. Worst company I have ever dealt with.

My experience with Schmitt started off great with excellent service, but their quality of communication, reliability showing up at the job site and getting the work done has really suffered recently. I'd like to revise this review upwards and truly hope this is lapse in quality is temporary and improves soon.

    Update as of 2/7/2022:

After several months, Schmitt had no response to us and left our HVAC unfixed with $0 charges. Today, we had a technician from United Mechanical to take a look at our HVAC. It seems that technicians from Schmitt made our HVAC even worse! The best way is to change the whole HVAC. Although I prob not in the position to judge what went wrong, leaving customers with unfixed HVAC is not professional.

My experience with Schmitt was not good. Our HAVC has broken 2 months ago, I had Schmitt find the issue and waited for the parts coming.

Staff from Schmitt came to our unit (always 1, 2 hours late on schedule) and spent 5,6 hours repair. Nothing fixed. We had to wait another week for them to repair it again. On the day of second try, they came an hour and a half late and told us that they called our HVAC manufacture tech support and figured that they had to order the parts again and re-do the repair process and left??? !!!! This is NOT professional. You can have the call with tech folks anytime during the week before you arrange the time to come to our unit. With the pandemic, we have to arrange our meetings, calls from work for this type of arrangement.

In this case, I have no idea when our HVAC can be fixed.

I left Schmitt after I became suspicious of being ripped off. Our electric bill was rising over the past 3 years. Within the last 3 years it started failing to cool down the house completely. Keep in mind I had paid the enormous price of $350 for their annual maintenance contract each year since I owned the house (2013) for 2 visits per year. The contract covered end to end testing and cleaning. Never did they check the outside heat pump condenser coil to see if debris was preventing air flow. Never did they tell me that there was a refrigerant leak in the evaporator coil. They pretended to do work and left but I could not prove it. The straw that broke my camels back was calling them 4 months ago about the house not cooling properly during the day. They came out on my second maintenance contract call to troubleshoot. They said there was no leak and everything looked great. But the refrigerant charge was a bit low. So they added 3 lbs of refrigerant. The charge did not last 2 weeks. I then called them back. They tried to find a leak and said it was the refrigerant valved outside on the heat pump that was leaking. They replaced that and recharged the system. For that it cost me $170 for 30 minutes. It did not last 1 week. So I called them back requesting a more experienced mechanic to troubleshoot and find the problem. They never called me back so I call them again. They finally talked to me and I requested the more experience mechanic again at which time they hung up on me, so to speak. I was transferred somewhere and put on hold for a long time. I smelled a rat and decided to take the group recommendation to call Mosley. Mosley found the leak within 5 minutes on-sight in the evaporator coil, a known defect as determined by a class action lawsuit. They did what Schmitt could not or would not do after years of visits.

The people who work here are crooks. We requested service on our AC unit 6 months ago and they "fixed" the issue, only for the problem to return last week. We paid $600+ for that first visit. Then, we called them back and instead of fixing the issue that they did not initially fix, they charged us another $700. The tech intentionally worked as slow as possible during the visit, knowing full well they charge by the hour and spent a FULL HOUR waiting for someone else to bring him a part we specifically said was broken when making the appointment. This is incredibly unethical and we will never be using this company again. I'm going to report them to the BBB as well.

Response: You failed to mention the part where the first visit was for the same exact problem (A/C would not turn on even when thermostat was working) and your technician did not correctly diagnose the problem, simply only replacing the a thermostat instead of looking for the root cause, which occurred again with this second visit. The low voltage wire shorting out was the original problem and if your technician did a good job the first time and correctly fixed the problem, the same issue would not have occurred 5 months later. Thus, this is a matter that should have just been fixed for free, or at least at a much lower rate. We decided to accept the high price you charged for this second visit because our time is more valuable than pursuing getting our money back. You would not work with us and did not budge on your quote. This is poor customer service. I stand by my review and do not accept your reply.
