I brought in my family’s Persian rug to be cleaned and refringed. The owner invoiced me $190 for the cleaning and $150 for the fringe work and said that it would be ready in 7-10 days. After following up multiple times, I was called in to pick up the rug 3 weeks later.

The owner intentionally (and badly) mismatched the fringe on each side of the rug and told me I would need to pay $150 extra (“a steak and a nice bottle of wine” as he put it in his attempt to coerce me) to fix it. Now I need to go pay someone else to do the work I already paid for or be stuck with a destroyed family heirloom.

The thing is, I wouldn’t have written this review had he simply made things right and fixed the rug after I confronted him. Also, he only accepts cash or Zelle/Venmo, likely to avoid disputed credit card payments.

Please don’t make the same mistake I did and avoid this place at all costs.

EDIT - The owner has since responded to my review with absolute nonsense. It's odd that he continues to lie about the situation despite me having photos of the rug before dropping it off showing the fringe was the same on both sides

Also beware - a factual, negative review may result in the owner slandering you online (he asked if I was Persian and I never asked for free service).

Within a few hours of my negative review, the Owner magically received a 5 star review and then another the next day - bringing his Google rating back up after my review. When I posted my original review, it was one of only two reviews at that time (the first was posted 7+ months ago). Make of that what you will.

Tom went above and beyond to repair a beautiful, modern hand-loomed wool rug. I highly recommend him and Restoration Rugs for any and all rug repairs and restoration. He was very reasonably priced as well.

I had a great experience with Restoration Rugs. I wanted to have a large rug (with a couple of pet-related stains) cleaned, and they were friendly, quick, and affordable. My rug looks brand new! This will be my go-to spot for any rugs that need cleaning or repair in the future.

Great customer service and reasonable prices! I had two area rugs cleaned and they were flexible with drop off and pickup and finished the job in a very timely manner. I will be a repeat customer for sure!

I brought a rug here for repairs and to remove some glue that had been there since I spilled it when I was a kid. The repairs are excellent including patching a large hole in an area with a highly complicated pattern. The glue is also gone. Excellent work, great family owned business. Thanks Tom!

I had an exceptional experience with Restoration Rugs— I brought in this gorgeous handmade Moroccan rug that I bought secondhand but was in very rough shape and not only did Tom do a thorough cleaning and repaired many holes, some of which I hadn’t even seen before, he also added a backing and I suspect did a lot more labor on it that he didn’t charge me for. This rug is truly a beautiful piece that I get a lot of compliments on and I’m very grateful to Restoration Rugs for the care and attention to detail they put into it— Tom truly takes pride in his work and I would recommend him to anyone.
