Let him do his job, and your yard will look immaculate. I've been working with him for nearly three years - and my yard looks as good as it did the moment he finished landscaping it. Also, I've gained in him a contact that can be relied upon for good references, and someone who is always available when I call!

After many years the backyard was looking pretty bad. I started the process of looking for a contractor. I narrowed it down to 3 after looking at yelp and google reviews. Lyle Lavietes was the one we selected after getting bids from all 3. To be honest, Lyle wasn't the lowest bid but he was so easy to talk to, very professional and not pushy. I had a general idea about what we wanted including water wise plants, drip watering, deck drainage, future electrical runs and a gas line for a future BBQ or fire pit. Lyle made some suggestions that made great sense. It gave me a feeling he knew what he was doing and was the contractor for the job. Together we came up with a plan and proceeded. We even were lucky that a homeowner nearby in Simi Valley allowed us to visit and see some work done by the Lavietes crew. I had no idea what type of plants to use. Lyle met us at a nursery where we selected plants based on his suggestions and our selection from those. Next we visited a masonry yard where we selected the paving stones. Based on our selections and the plan of attack we got a reasonable final bid from Lyle in a few days. In about two weeks time from initial contact the job was started. The work crew "went to town" on the backyard. They arrived on time, put in a hard day of work and cleaned up before leaving every day. Lyle was there most every day to see the work progress. The job was completed in about a month and a half from starting. This included wait time for materials because I selected a tumbled paver that needed additional processing at the manufacturer. All in all I would recommend Lyle Lavietes for landscape and pavers. The job was completed slightly less than 2 years ago (9/22) and the plants have grown especially well with the virtually invisible drip system only watering once a week! Recently had MCLM design placement of boulders in backyard, courtyard and front landscape. Brooke gave the initial estimate and followed-up with photos before ordering and delivering desired quantity. His team was exceptional! The boulders enhanced the look of our home and I am very pleased with the outcome. Brooke was very responsive and timely during the process and also very kind and understanding when I had questions. His team also replaced and installed ground cover in a planter section and did a remarkable job! I highly recommend MCLM for any landscape service and would certainly contact Brooke and his team for additional projects ahead!

I paid $550 for MCLM to plant a 24 inch box tree in my front yard. One year later santa ana winds blew the tree over. They didn't give the tree any support besides the one small stake the tree came with taped to its trunk. I called when the tree blew over and was told they could come look at it in a couple of weeks an give me an estimate to fix it. I voiced my concern over them charging more money to fix something they did incorrectly the first time. I never heard from them again!

Malibu maintenance does a farely good job of maintenance if cost isn’t a consideration, but you can find others that will do as good a job for half the price. However, their installation branch was gravely disappointing. For instance, it cost us two hundred thirty dollars to have four Five gallon lanatas planted! One of their workers, Pedro, did such a terrible job of fashioning a trellis that we took it down ourselves. We should’ve learned our lesson, for the same man did our drip system on our hill for sixteen hundred dollars that looked like a drunkard threw spaghetti everywhere. We hired another company to redo it. The manager of the installation team, John Flairty promised plants and trees that afterward ‘he couldn’t find’ so, without our consent he replaced them with whatever he could get, all at unrealistic prices. Getting him to come out to discuss his work took several emails and calls until we finally gave up. The experience literally brought my wife to tears. Finally, she was so distraught that I was left to pick up the pieces. Fortunately, we’ve found another company that does high quality work for a fraction of the price so before hiring Malibu, do yourself a favor and see what else is out there, I think you’ll be surprised at what you can find for a fraction of the price!

After reading through the reviews of this company I definitely no I am not alone in my opinion. It seems if you hire this company to do hard scaping you will be happy and if you are an out of state landlord you will be completely scammed. We are local landlords so our experience is a little different. This company was maintaining a house we purchased as a rental. Their maintenance monthly fee was more than double market rate so we cancelled service. My husband and I somehow both paid the same invoice for the last month of service at this property. The company cashed two checks from the same bank account with the same names on them for the same amount on the same day. Any honest, detail oriented person would’ve noticed our mistake and called us. The woman in the office cashed both checks. When I saw both checks clear our account I figured it out and called her. She basically told me that my husband and I writing to checks for the same invoice was not her problem. She didn’t even think she needed to refund us! She said her company‘s policy was no refunds! I told her that

Scott, Roberto and their crew have a reputation about town for being a fabulous landscapers. We decided that our frontyard could use a nice facelift. The design included sod, colorful flower beds, an assortment of trees and some beautiful malibu lighting and what a change it has made to the front of my home. The MCLM crew arrived on time, created a design that we could maintain, and we were most impressed by how quickly and thorough they completed their work each day.

MCLM did extensive new home landscaping work for us in 2004 and they were fantastic. Their design was creative, the work was reasonably priced, they completed the job on time, and we highly recommend them. They also did work for our HOA that continues to be a highlight of the development.
