Highly recommend David. He is beyond professional, kind and honest. The other heater repair on the mountain didn’t fix the heater properly that almost caused a fire and not heat during a storm. David saved the day. He is a real gem and recommend to all in the mountain area. Good honest people are hard to find.

So disappointed. In addition to the mini splits this company installed, I also had a furnace installed fall 2023. The filter cage on my new furnace was not done according to the manual which may void my warranty. After much discussion with the owner to correct the filter placement at no cost due to his negligence , the owner wants to add the filter cage at an additional $650 cost to me and the owner will not give me the part information for the filter Cage holder. Mind you, the furnace has been running a full season with the filter placed inside the motor area unsecured, just flopping around in there Not providing protection to my new unit. The owner called me a difficult person when I asked questions about the filter cage be placed according to the manual and again refused to give me the part to correct it. The owner refused to work with me, calling me names, because I ask valid questions that he does not want to answer. The owner will not provide the info requested for a rebate he used as bait so I would purchased a more expensive unit. He refused to give me the a signed rebate form with mandatory information to get the rebate stating he can't give me the cost of the equipment stating it is “privileged “ information (but the state is asking for it, not me in order to get the rebate). That’s 1k I’m out on that deal.

The owner states, which I never witnessed, that he provided the promised free yearly maintenance on my mini split system and refuses to provide any documentation stating the date and work done—unbelievable as I need this for warranty compliance !

May be going to small claims on this one if my warranty is not valid due to this company not giving me maintenance documentation and NOT following the installation instructions.

Upfront and early on David was seemingly calm, trust worthy and polite, I gave him the benefit of any doubt based on this seemingly professional demeanor, but wow, that professional behavior quickly changed when problems arose as mentioned above—How could I be so wrong as you read my original review. I had to ask him to leave my home when he was not polite, that’s a first for me. I have not had him back in my home nor will I ever again to do any work. Stay Away from this company.

Mark the owner, and crew, far exceeded my expectations when installing a 2 zone ductless mini split system and for an extremely fair price. Mark is knowledgeable/licensed, honest, polite/dependable, and organized in his craft (this combination is often a rarity on the mountain). Mark will include free labor for the life of the equipment because he knows his work is done correctly on installation—a worry free install in my opinion. I strongly recommend Higher Ground HAVC. Awesome service! I called and David called back immediately. I explained that I needed to have my heater in the attic serviced and we scheduled an appointment for the next day. The guys showed up on time and were very polite and helpful, they performed the service and even took photos for me to see the condition of the heater before and after cleaning, that was very helpful as I can’t crawl up there anymore.

It’s so nice to have a local company with local employees that care and are honest, show up on time and do what they said they would do for the price quoted. I couldn’t be happier with Higher Ground and highly recommend them.

Look no further! David the owner is top notch. 2 years ago he set us up with a brand new HVAC system (heat and AC), and it's still going strong. His workers Noah and Jack are also top notch guys with excellent worksmanship. Definitely a company you can trust to get the job done right on the mountain.

David and his team have gone above and beyond on expectations! His staff is professional, well mannered and dedicated to the job. I called for a yearly service because my heating unit was not heating my house anymore. I was given an appointment the next day. Jack took his time cleaning my unit, and making sure everything was working properly. My house is back to being my warm and cozy haven. Thanks David and Jack for all that you do! I’m very fortunate to have David worked on My house heater, it stopped suddenly working and i had guest coming the next day. I called David to help me and 3 hours later he showed up and fixed it. Higher Ground is the absolute best heating and air conditioning company I have ever dealt with. No BS and they were able to fix my heater for a very fair price. I definitely recommend them!

David came to my house to troubleshoot my furnace after it stopped working. He mentioned it was "too old" to repair, claiming it was 32 years old, and recommended replacing the entire unit. When I asked if he could fix the existing unit, he refused, stating he doesn’t like to repair older equipment. Despite this, he asked me to pay a $150 diagnostic fee, even though he couldn’t provide a diagnosis.

For reference, my home was built in 2006, and the furnace is only 18 years old. I had Obe and Sons come out the same day, and they had no trouble diagnosing and repairing the unit. It’s working perfectly now.

I can’t speak to David’s skills when it comes to HVAC work because he refused to work on mine. However, if you’re someone looking for a quick suggestion to replace your system, he might be a good fit. But if you want someone who will explore repair options, I’d suggest looking elsewhere.

I have several houses in Lake Arrowhead Lake Gregory and Crestline and these are the only people I trust to do honest work on my property. David and all the guys at higher ground or on the job with a fair estimate as soon as you call with a great disposition every single time. After 10 years of dealing with this company these are the go-to people on the mountain for your heating and air conditioning needs. I have been so happy to work with David the owner of Higher Ground Heating and Air Conditioning. Our system was installed by a very nice man who was new to minisplit systems. David was able to help us get our system working, help us to understand how to properly operate our system, and plan for routine maintenance. David is knowledgeable, responsive, patient, and professional. We are so grateful to have a reliable professional to care for our system.

Good honest workers are hard to find on the mountain, so I truly appreciate the reliability and professionalism of the team at Higher Ground Heating and Air Conditioning. They completed a full system install in just two days, working in a very small crawlspace. Needless to say, this team can get any HVAC job done. Highly recommend them.

I have used Higher Ground Heating and Air Conditioning 3 times already. They installed a new A/C unit in my upstairs, a new Furnace in my upstairs, and repaired a problem with my condenser for my lower AC unit. All three times...the service was excellent, the technicians were respectful and knowledgeable...They also responded so quickly to my calls...which I really do appreciate...I also felt the costs were fair and I won't hesitate to recommend them, or call them again should the need arise....and I like that they are local....

I contacted Higher Ground based on some recommendations from the local community Facebook pages. I’m definitely glad I went with David and his team. My entire ACA system had issues: too small of an air intake, dirty condenser system, dirty blower, and a compressor that was going out. David and his team went above and beyond in their diagnosis and repairs. They came to my house multiple times to get my AC working properly and I’m happy with the results. I will definitely be calling David again for future HVAC needs.

These guys told me they replaced all the ducts and the entire system was cleaned and safe and ready to use for my newborn and toddler. We found only a day later that there were still holes in the ducts, as well as rodent feces and debris throughout. Then the owner of the company tried to intimidate me by claiming defamation.

Unfortunately, the case was closed with CSLB because I did not hold the contract with Higher Ground. No other reason. They gave me other avenues to pursue my issues with David and his company.

In response: David, you and your company were let in every single time you came. You came multiple times and your crew did as well. My family and I never had anything at all in your way, we gave you and the crew all the time and room to work necessary.

Furthermore, Terminix and I are in great standing and they told me no work was done at the property once I left, so I guess you are lying AGAIN. IN FACT the owner was blacklisted from Terminix and can not ever call them for work at that property.

As per me threatening to sue, you threatened to sue me for defamation. We never threatened any sort of lawsuit with any vendors.

You lied about the state and work done, you knew the system was contaminated and as a licensed professional you are aware that an HVAC system with rodents living in it is unsafe for children and especially newborns. Still you told me to go ahead and use the system, lying that all ducts had been replaced... it doesnt matter that I did not sign the contract with you, it does not change the fact that the HVAC system was not safe to use and the work you told me was done was not actually done. You have no issues lying, putting others at risk and defaming people to further your agenda.

Even your response shows how unprofessional you are. Claiming we were squatting. I was not aware that Higher Ground HVAC was a property management company. But you colluded with the owner of the property about the safety of the HVAC system so I am not surprised by your slanderous statements. Clearly, your lies know no ends.

You have no moral compass and are full of lies. Your lies put my family's health at risk, including a 2 month old baby. You should be ashamed of yourself and people should be wary dealing with you.

David and his team were a rare find on the mountains in that they were reliable, prompt, courteous, trustin, had excellent communication, and professional. They replaced our ancient furnace, installation looked up-to-code, and David explained some of the functionality of the appliance along with some tips. Pricing was a bit higher than other quotes we had received, but Higher Ground is licensed, insured, and bonded, and that gives some extra piece of mind should something go wrong down the line. The furnace unit itself carries a 20+ year warranty, and labor is free for its lifetime. David, thank you for not just being excellent for the mountain, but for small businesses in general!

David and his team are wonderful to work with. I have used Higher Ground twice now for our home. The first was last October when our downstairs heater quit working. When others told us we needed a new unit, David told us we really did not need two units as our main one was large enough to heat the entire house and it would save us money not only on the repair but on energy costs. We knew eventually we would need to replace the larger unit as both units were very old. Easter weekend the old girl decided she had enough and quit on us. I sent a text to David on Monday morning and he responded promptly. He was out at our home within two hours. Within a day he had the unit completely replaced. In addition, he also took a look at our ac unit and serviced it for us. David is reliable, prompt, honest and very reasonably priced. They work hard and quickly to ensure your needs are met and in our case having heat when the weather wants to be fickle. We will continue to use David for any of our HVAC needs and will have home regularly service both our new heating and AC unit. I highly recommend Higher Ground!
