Stiliyan/ATC Mechanical did an excellent job in installating two heat pumps at our home. We're very happy with the project quality, pricing, speed, and the level of communication that Stiliyan provided.

After looking at the site for the project needs, installation feasibility, and any potenyial issues, Stiliyan quickly provided a proposal with alternatives, suggestions, and a very competitive pricing. Once agreed, Stiliyan and his people moved quickly to complete the project- even working on weekends! They also tidied up the work area after each work day.

Stiliyan arranged for all necessary permit, tests, and inspections to make sure the project meet all technical and legal requrements. He frequently informed us of the ATC work progress and schedule.

Overall, we're quite satisfied with ATC Mechnical and highly recommend them to anyone who needs HVAC services.

I was honestly dreading having to get my ducts and vents cleaned. I imagined dust and dirt flying around everywhere and that I’d be left cleaning up after. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case at all! Stilyan and the team from ATC Mechanical took care of everything quickly and left my home spotless—no extra cleaning needed on my part.

Stilyan was professional, efficient, and very detail‑oriented. He explained the process, worked carefully, and made sure everything was done right. The whole job was completed faster than I expected, and my air feels so much fresher already.

If you’re hesitant about duct and vent cleaning because you’re worried about the mess, don’t be. With Stilyan and ATC Mechanical, it’s truly stress‑free. I couldn’t be happier with the service and highly recommend them!

ATC Mechanical did an excellent job installing my new heat pump. I had the compressor location changed from one end of the house to the other and Stiliyan made sure I was getting what I wanted. His bid for the installation was very reasonable and there were no hidden costs. His crew was very careful, all floors they used were protected and they did a good job of cleaning up after. DEFINITELY A 5 STAR JOB.

ATC did an amazing job getting my furnace up and running on a same day call when it was very cold outside and my heater wasnt working. They were very responsive, professional and courteous. Great job, 10 out 10 I highly recommend!!

Eco was recommended to me and after working with them in January 2026, I, too, can recommend this local business - competent, customer services oriented and most of all, superb teamwork end to end.

While the technology and the hardwares used are employed by many HVAC providers, the operation touches the attic to the crawl space and will take several consecutive days to complete, and the cost is not inexpensive, so organization, time management and customer care are critical to a desired outcome; and these are ECO's fortes.

From the initial call to the project end with a sign off from the city inspector, everyone including ECO's outside contractors worked with me; they thought of things that I did not even notice.

I could not have asked for a better construction/improvement outfit. I wish all my home projects can be done in such an effective and efficient way.

Knowledgeable and professional folks whose aim is to make your home comfortable and energy efficient while delivering healthy indoor air quality.

We received a terrific 83- gallon heat pump hot water heater, leaving gas-fired water heater behind. Reliable! Sustainable! PGE granted us a higher baseline electric allowance for changing this heat source.

Communication, Punctuality, Professionalism and Courtesy, Customer care and satisfaction: 5/5 stars on all of it!

    * Project: Home air sealing, Crawlspace Vapor Barrier; Attic clean up and blow-in cellulose insulation; Replace old gas furnace with electric Heat Pump system; installed new air vents and duct work; absestos removal.

We first got in touch with Kyle B., who came to the house for an initial assessment. Then we started exchanging emails about game plan, we went back and forth for a while. I am very hands-on and involved, so I wanted to research every single item, he would send me to be fully informed of all of our options. He was very knowledgeable of every possible scenarios, gas, electric, he even gave us detailed information on product they wouldn't have been involved in (radiant heating systems on ceilings for example). In other words, Kyle was not pushy at all, he cared more about our home comfort than making his sale.

We felt bad that we dragged the process for so many months before committing (probably around 6 months), but we didn't want to jump into any decision before knowing all of the possibilities and the best option for us. We wanted it to be our decision. Kyle was very understanding and never showed any sign of frustration or impatience. He was very professional and always wrote detailed emails with pros and cons of different systems. We worked together to come up with the most ideal one for our home. We are very pleased with the process involved before the actual work was done.

ON-SITE WORK AND TEAM: Bill N.was our project manager. Keith F., Cody J.; Jorge, Tommy and Ryan were some of the guys who came to the work site. Every single team member was courteous and friendly. They seem to all be working well together, I could ask questions to anyone and they all has answers. On day 1, they told us their start and end work hours to make sure we were ok with them.

They had trucks and vans with material deliveries, but the team was very considerate and made sure they weren't in any of the neighbor's way.

They laid out floor protection and taped out each time they had to do something in our living space. They picked up, cleaned up and vacuumed at the end of each day, like they weren't there.

I asked a lot of questions each day to see what they were doing, I went in the crawslpace, in the attic during the week to see. They are serious about the quality of their work and were excited to show me their progress.

There was some material shipment delay, they were very apologetic about it (even though it was out of their control), it really didn't bother us. Even with that, they didn't just sit around waiting for the delivery, Keith was actually training the other guys how to use some equipment they didn't know, so they were able to make a productive afternoon out of it. [That's a message for their boss! :)]

We got progress status update at the beginning and end of each day, which was very nice. We trusted them with the house and would just go to work during the day, they knew how to lock on the way out. Bill was awesome, at the end of each day he'd call or text me with the progress as well, and sometimes I would ask him questions in the evenings and he'd respond right away.

Kristy is very nice over the phone, and prompt with email communication.

The whole project took a little over 2 full weeks to complete, as scheduled by Kyle. We are extremely happy with the end result. Before their work, we had to open all doors and windows each evening to let air in to cool down the house, but now the temperature stays consistent throughout the day even when it's over 90 outside. The system they've engineered is so perfect for our home that we can't even tell when it's on! They promised a quiet system, they guaranteed a comfortable home, and they delivered!

We only wish every contractor would be as professional, and effective as EPB. Can't thank the EPB team enough for this amazing experience!

Great service from project planning, design,. permitting and delivery. Highly detail oriented crew that gets the job done well and on time.

    5

So glad I went with EPB! Kyle and Bill are great project managers, communicate clearly and consistently, and respond quickly and thoroughly. (When ever I had a question I knew I could call or email one of them and get things addressed immediately. Even though EPB schedule was full, they made me feel like my project was important and still done with the best efforts and maximum attention and quality.

The rest of the team on my project - Jorje, Tom, Kevin, and a few others from EPB whose names I did not catch, the tapers and rockers Brad and his crew, and the EPB office staff are also fantastic - pleasant and professional, quick to respond, and knowledgeable.

I also was super security conscious because I have two indoor cats; everyone was very respectful, making sure that the furries did not escape, and that doors and gates were locked at the end of the day. And everything was really cleaned up pretty thoroughly during stages and at the end of the job.

My spaces look gorgeous, my house is cozy (the true test will be summer, of course; I will try to do an update), the air smells/feels better if I do have the house closed up, and my Fujitsu units are so quiet!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to Eco Performance Builders and their contractors. You helped make my house into more of my dream house!

I moved into a 100-year old home a couple months ago and wanted insulation in my sub area. I called around and looked at recommendations and had a long conversation with Eco performance builders one evening. Since I knew this relatively drafty house would fail a blower test I wanted to just cut to the chase and install insulation.

The guys came today to do the work and did a beautiful job. It was superquick, very well-managed, the bill came very quickly afterwards, I can pay electronically, they totally understand that this is about energy savings, protecting the environment, and a more comfortable home. As an extensively trained real estate broker with eco-broker certification, I really appreciate working with a team that understands the concepts and, for instance, and won't put insulation right up against knob and tube wiring!

We have been doing a big remodel on a fixer-upper in south Berkeley and we feel really lucky to have found EPB. Kyle, who was in charge of our project, was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and competent. Bill, the on-site point person, was also a pleasure to work with.

Clear communication, high quality work, fair prices.
They also did all of the paperwork for the energy evaluation and PGE Home Upgrade rebates, which came through even slightly higher than estimated.

The work they did for us: tankless water heater, air sealing, attic insulation, floor insulation, cathedral ceiling insulation, and some wall insulation.

    Highly recommended!

Amazing experience with Keith and Erik. We're in a newer home with a fujitsu AC that just stopped working. None of the codes made any sense and none of the simple trouble shooting tricks gave results that made sense. Our AC and it's troubles were a mystery. Keith and Erik worked tirelessly to find the issue. Their customer support, good humor and product knowledge was simply the best. If we could give them 10 stars we would. I would recommend them to anyone, even my elderly parents. Eco Performance Builders are the best!

    5

If I could put more stars, I would! Doing an energy upgrade is an expensive decision, and most people wonder if the energy savings is going to be worth the upfront investment into the project. (It will take so many years, but eventually it will) Finally decided to go for it anyways to live comfortably. So glad we did! The comfort is pretty much immediately noticeable, even when it's 100 degrees outside it's cool inside. Also, feels good inside to know that we are being responsible citizens by using less energy and leaving less carbon footprint. Two months into the summer, we are already seeing significant reduction in energy consumption.

The crew work so hard! Arrived daily at 7am, and always respectful and meticulously covers involved areas and clean up after themselves. There's one person assigned to manage your particular project (for us, it was Bill) and he kept in communication daily on the progress. Everyone very patiently answers questions -- from the audit and consultation by Kyle to daily progress by Bill and other members of the team. Highly recommend! Very professional.

Eco Performance Builders are The Best in HVAC and energy improvements. Customer service is top notch. We are extremely pleased with choosing them and would hire them again for any service they provide without question or comparison shopping.

This company is beyond any other hvac company out there in terms of application of the latest in heating, cooling, insulation and energy efficiency.

An independent inspector told me they are the best in the industry and inspecting their work is a formality.

I asked a number of other hvac companies about my duct work, air sealing, a/c options and insulation. Almost all of them just wanted to replace my existing a/c or heater, most without even looking at my ducts or insulation, never mind alternative options.

EPB performed air sealing, replacement of existing traditional heating cooling system to a highly efficient ducted mini split system (no this is not with large room cassettes) performed air sealing, installed a heat recovery ventilation system with separate ducting, replaced my gas water heater with a high efficiency electric water heater (enabling me to get off gas completely and switch to a more friendly electric pg&e billing plan) and finally did wall and attic insulation. They performed extensive testing before and after and presented me with a plan of improvements. They also handled all the rebate documentation for us.

The work took them just over 3 weeks to complete, this over Christmas and New Years!

Their customer service was top notch with every employee I came in contact with. I could not recommend these guys more highly. These guys set a major standard in construction in so many ways.

Some of what my wife really liked about them was how clean, polite, considerate and efficient they were. They were always within their time frame (when we booked them months in advance they told us the date and time they would start work and they made it exactly on that date and time!) and they worked within their stated hours with consistency. They kept good communication about their work and we still managed to have a nice Christmas and New Years at home during this time.

I had to book them months in advance waiting for them specifically without a/c and heat and it was worth the wait.

This was an investment that will pay for itself now and long term in lower maintenance costs, lower future replacement costs, intangible safety improvements and air quality improvements and generalized improvement in home comfort and aesthetics.

Kyle and the team at Eco Performance were responsive, professional, knowledgeable, and patient (with our expanding timeline). They conducted a thorough energy audit, installed our heating/cooling system, and insulated both underfloor and in the attic space. Most helpfully, Kyle helped us navigate the PGE rebate program. Of all the work we have been doing, they have been at the top of our list for quality work and business practices.

TLDR: I would go a winter without heat just to have Eco Performance replace my system over another contractor.

It almost doesn't feel right to compare Eco Performance with the other Bay Area HVAC companies because Eco is operating at such a higher level. Earlier this year we completed a pretty large scope of work with Eco. This included 2 new ducted mini split systems with all new ducting, crawl space encapsulation, attic air sealing, insulation, and a heat pump water heater. I spent about a year researching options and getting quotes before signing a contract with ECO and there isn't anyone else in the Bay Area doing the level of work they are. I had ~10 companies provide a bid including all of the highest rate shops on Yelp. The majority of them spent less than 20 minutes in my house, did not run any sort of a load calculation, and promptly provided a mid 5 digit bid wanting to start right away. They size their HVAC systems based on "square footage and experience" and don't do any real ducting design. All of these quotes came in +/- 20% of one another, and all of these companies said they could start within a month.

It was clear from the first meeting with Eco that their process is completely different. The first on-site assessment was over an hour and it was immediately apparent that Kyle was the domain expert I had been looking for. Eco followed up with a detailed quote explaining the process which included a room by room load calculation. This means they measure and draw a floor plan for your entire house including windows and insulation, run a blower door test to determine air leakage, and then run a computer model to determine how much air flow each room needs to maintain an even temperature across the house. This is just one example of the dozens of differences between what ECO does vs. the competition.

To my surprise ECOs quote was competitive with the others I received when comparing similar systems and equipment. We also waited almost 6 months from contract signing to work start.

Once the work started everything was top notch. We've had a lot of work done on our house this year and ECOs crew was among the best. Every person who came was prompt, respectful, and clean. I was prodding the city inspector with questions and he even mentioned that ECO is the best in the bay area. We're super happy with the end product and would enthusiastically hire ECO again.

Thank you to the whole Eco team for the outstanding job you did on our home! We're so glad we found your company and had the pleasure of working with your team. Thank you Jorge/Alberto and your guy's team and subcontractors. Everyone was very helpful throughout the entire project, answered all our questions, accommodated all of our requests, cleaned up the house nicely everyday, and displayed high quality workmanship. We very much appreciated the communication from all members of the team as well. As far as the work itself, we have felt a measurable difference since the insulation and HVAC work was installed! We've noticed the house can stay in the low 70s during the recent hotter days (ie. 90s) without even turning the heat pump on!! And the entire system, from heat pump to air handler, is deathly quiet; what a difference from the previous equipment. We've already been telling friends, family and co-workers of Eco and the wonderful job you all did. Thanks again

After a comprehensive review and extensive consultation, EPB addressed the inadequate insulation and ductwork, installing a Fujitsu heat pump. Kyle, Nick, and their entire team approached every aspect of the planning and installation with exceptional care and consideration. They made the process seamless for us, and we are incredibly grateful for their expert recommendations. EPB took care of the entire permitting process and product registration. I would wholeheartedly recommend their work to anyone seeking a company that excels in their craft and genuinely prioritizes the details. Thanks to them, we now have a comfortable home, and that is truly invaluable!

Eco Performance Builders did an excellent job of assisting me to replace my old heater in Livermore, Calif and add air conditioning. They conducted an energy assessment which provided the information required to correctly size units and infrastructure required to heat and cool the home. Using the information from the audit they recommended several options I could choose from and spent time discussing the pros and cons of each choice. Once I made my choices Eco Performance Builders obtained all the permits and facilitated the rebates I was eligible for. I lived in the home for 30 years with two heater replacements. It was never comfortable despite putting in double paned windows. The Eco Performance Builders solution to heating and cooling my home has greatly increased the comfort level and we are all very pleased. The work was done quickly and efficiently and all work areas were left clean and in order.

Eco Performance was thorough, competent and responsive throughout the project. Kyle Bosworth carefully evaluated our home, including ductwork and insulation, to determine an appropriate heat pump solution. He provided a detailed bid, which, when all elements were taken into account, was in line with other bids, and answered all my questions. We were happy to have an expert who thought through what was needed. We were very impressed with Kyle Bosworth's knowledge and expertise, the care he took to evaluate the house with testing, and willingness to answer a lot of questions--which continued long after we signed the contract.

Eco was able to schedule the work when it worked for us. The work was performed competently, quickly and cleanly. The Eco insulation team, headed by Paul, was efficient and courteous, despite working in hot, tight spaces. Ryan Bosworth and the installation team were all polite, hard-working, and competent, and the work moved quickly. If asked, they took the time to explain what they were doing and how the system worked. Ryan followed up with respect to the Fujitsu control panel that did not work properly, and replaced it. We are very happy with our new heat pump for heating, and look forward to having it next summer for cooling.

When replacing a gas furnace with a heat pump, please be aware that costs on the Internet for heat pump equipment alone are not representative of the true cost. The actual cost will depend on your home. For example, our old asbetos-wrapped ducts needed to be replaced. Our 1920 walls had no insulation, which is needed to really improve how it feels inside, and the attic insulation was old and thin. In our home, we had to replace knob & tube wiring to allow insulation to be pumped in the walls. Some HVAC companies will give a bid to install a heat pump, perhaps with ducts, but will not assess your home's other needs. Eco Performance provided a comprehensive analysis from which we could make an informed decision.
