Angela did a beautiful (dare I say magical) job of designing our front and back yard. She listened to my vision for both areas and exceeded my high expectations. Her artistry and love for nature is apparent in her work!

I think I’ve worked with Angela for more than six years! Most recently, after having a new garage built and an all new driveway and custom concrete patios installed, I knew she was the one who could work magic and make it all blend together. It was a BIG project and she did an amazing job, keeping me updated on progress, including me in her thought process, giving me options, and being thoughtful of my budget.

A few years earlier, she completely redid my backyard spending the time needed to understand the complexities of sunlight and shade areas as well as dealing with a significant slope. I’ve also asked her periodically to come in and spruce up the backyard with color and design updates.

I keep coming back to Angela because she makes garden dreams come true. She’s also an excellent listener, recognizing that while I’m not the expert she is, I do have ideas. She is always willing to collaborate with me, and gently tell me when my ideas might not live up to my expectations. She’s also impressively professional, responsive, and adaptable to change.

A challenge for me, is my lack of ability to visualize, and this is an area that is also worth calling out on Angela‘s behalf because she is uniquely able to quickly sketch design ideas that help develop an inspiring and exciting shared vision. I will definitely work with Angela again!

Wow! We were so VERY impressed with Angela and her work! Beginning with meeting and gauging our budget and interests, to designing a beautiful layout, to implementing our project, every step was taken with care and expertise. Angela created a new front yard design for us which included demolishing existing concrete and a full makeover of irrigation and planting. We met to review design and adjustments at our home, shopped for plants together at a local nursery, and then sat back and watched the amazing transformation! Angela worked within our budget, was reliable and prompt with communication, and very hands-on from start to finish. The landscaper she suggested was dependable, efficient and very organized in every aspect of the process. She continues to be available to monitor plant care and maintenance of other new components of the design. It is clear that she takes great joy in her work, which is reflected in her attention to detail and the beauty of the results. Angela is terrifc. From our very first meeting, she used her ample people-skills and experience to take in all of my dreams, hopes and fears for a much-needed back yard renovation. Ours was a dynamic process: She would offer a proposal based on what I told her, and I would review and refine it (or change it) until we both had come up with a final version that was the blueprint for the team.

The crew she worked with were excellent: Polite, professional, considerate, energetic and hard-working. It was done in a matter of days, and she came over many times during the process to check in and make sure things were going ahead as planned. As such, we were able to overcome a very few unexpected issues quickly and painlessly.

Perhaps best of all, Angela was sensitive to my desire not to create more waste on the consumer side of this project. We were able to reuse much of what was in the way (building materials) and repurpose it for our own projects (e.g. planter boxes made from both salvaged timber and concrete scraps). The result is not only aesthetically pleasing but also gives me a sense of pride every time I look at the new garden.

Angela with Utopic Gardens, has exceeded our expectation on every level. I met with her in October and shared my thoughts. She had a well thought out layout that incorporated other trees from our property, so the new addition would blend well. Her team started on schedule and installed all the plants within two months, to take advantage of the rainy season. She also gave thorough watering guidelines and sent pictures every step of the way. This was critical, as we are out of state for the three months after install. Additionally, she visited our house several times to follow thru to ensure the plantings were doing well. We will definitely use her again to continue improving our property. A shout out to Orchard’s Nursery for their recommendation. Six stars all the way!!!

Angela transformed what had been a stark, gravel and rock birch grove into a soothing, delightful cottage garden. Her vision turned a flat, empty landscape into soft knolls planted with year-round color and variety, a calming fountain, and flowers that attract hummingbirds, enhancing this restorative oasis.

My husband and I hadn’t made many changes or improvements to our landscaping since first buying the house and having the yard done over 30 years ago. We had lots of opinions … but not much expertise about what might flourish where. Angela was patient, listened carefully, provided ideas and information when needed but never tried to force her taste and Ideas on us. We love the result!
We will be bringing her back for additional work in the spring when some transplanting and pruning will be needed.

We used Utopic Gardens on two occasions to make extensive revisions first to our front yard and then the backyard. Angela provided very detailed design plans including the addition of rock walls, a flagstone patio and a plant list identifying each plant type and its location. Both her design creativity and plant knowledge are amazing.
She worked with the contractor from start to finish overseeing the installation in accordance with her plans as well as addressing irrigation and lighting issues. She kept us informed throughout the process and when appropriate accommodated our suggestions and wishes.
Most important, we were very pleased with the results. If it’s time to install, revise or upgrade your garden, you will not regret using Utopic Gardens.

We invested heavily in our rose garden. We have 56 rose bushes or rose trees. We could never get professional help who could take care of our garden either because regular gardeners often don’t have the expertise or they lack concern. Angela and her crew came in, engaged in deadheading, pruning and shaping, and spraying for bugs, and now we have an abundance of beautiful roses.

Angela and Utopic Gardens renovated our entire landscape, which had apparently been only minimally tended for almost twenty years. It is now fabulous! Angela listened to our wishes and desires and made them happen. She was quickly responsive during the whole process. She and J’s Modern Landscaping transformed our barren unkempt property into what one neighbor has called a “peaceful oasis”. We will definitely be calling on Utopic Gardens in the future to add an another patio to the lower part of our backyard. This was a seamless project lead by an incredibly talented designer!

Angela was a delight to work with. She helped design our front yard remodel which included replacing our lawn with shrubs, plants, trees, and a new irrigation system. The ground sloping and retaining wall transformed our space into an elegant garden paradise. We are very happy with the outcome and Angela’s expertise, experience, and love of gardening is very apparent and appreciated!

We had one of the best experiences with Don and his team. They are very responsive (return the call quickly), professional (work is done to the very fine detail), and knowledgeable (gave a lot of good suggestions); highly recommend, and happy to be the reference.

Don and his team have done an amazing job on my entire landscape overhaul. I added all new pavers and updated the wooden deck area to and existing deck, removed an old outdated hot tub and turned that area into another deck area, resurfaced an existing pool, and redid the entire front landscaping. Their work is exceptional. They respond quickly to any questions/concerns/requests I had. Everyday when they left for the day, they clean up and left my yard neat and tidy. We finished a thorough landscaping design and construction project with Alderland in San Leandro, CA, six months ago that exceeded all expectations!
